PRESS RELEASE: akta MTB

Following the success of our inaugural line, we are stoked to launch our second collection to the MTB community. The goals remain the same for our Trail Collection; to be a highly versatile kit with a focus on fit, function and durability. These attributes are built around our foundation of using premium, recycled bluesign approved materials.

This product offering was all about our continued journey of designing and developing the best MTB specific apparel.

All-day-pedal protection, our Trail Knee pad has quickly become our flagship item. Featuring a D3O LP1 for all the big impacts, and surrounded by perforated EVA foam for an additional level of protection. All of this is covered in a highly durable aramid stretch fabric. You won’t need to worry about adjusting this pad after a big pedal or crash.

Our gloves have gained a solid reputation of their own. These minimalist slide-on style gloves blend durability and incredible grip thanks to the fully recycled AX suede palm and 3 way stretch nylon back of hand material.

Our Trail Short and Pant continue to be built around a recycled 4 way stretch nylon that is light enough for all day pedals, but durable enough for bike park laps. A partially elasticated waistband with silicone prints plus a ratchet closure keep things secure at the waist. We’ve reduced the bulk of our phone protecting pocket that features D3O’s recycled protective foam. Increased articulation and laser perforated venting help take comfort to the next level. A PFAS / PFC free DWR treatment keeps light rain at bay.

To round out your kit, our Trail Jersey features post-consumer recycled polyester that is light, breathable, quick drying plus UPF50+ sun rating and an antimicrobial treatment. Dialed fit and ready for long days on the bike.

Nobody can convince me 90% of MTB apparel isn’t all the same thing with different logos. Why does everything look the same!?!?

@eldenring: This is why I read the comment section about mtb clothing. Someone always provides suggestions for similar but much cheaper options.

I guess you can go two ways, ie big distinctive logos in loud colours (eg Fox, TLD) or a more toned-down subtle approach like we have here. I usually buy the toned down stuff.

I ride in Pisgah almost exclusively, variety of conditions but typically humid, wet, & in the summers it is fairly hot. Have had major issues with kneepads from other brands, especially at the back of the knees. Got the set from Akta per a friend's recommendation (he talked a couple of us into them) and easily the best piece of kit I own. I can ride all day epics and keep them up the entire time, no issues sliding down, and they've performed well when I've went down - great protection. If this gear is as good as their knee pads it'll be fantastic.

Yo! Stoked to hear that. Cheers! We think you'll enjoy the rest of our gear if you're liking the knee pads.

do you think the cutouts in the d30 could be an issue if you were riding in an area with more irregularly shaped rocks? They look great, but I'm imagining going down and having one of the point of the rock sliding into the gap in the d30.

Akta Knee pads are seriously the best. The way they cup your knee makes them stay in place better than any other pad. Now I've got the shorts, pants and long sleeve jersey. Great brand and people.

 Cheers to that!

Been using the knee pads, pants, and shorts since the brand launched. The pants and shorts are no worse for wear after 2 muddy winters, and the pads fit so nicely and breathe decently well that they stay on for the climbs, rather than stashing them somewhere on myself or on the bike. The Akta stuff has proven itself so I have 0 issues recommending it to others.

What's your USP in this saturated marketplace?

Our US Wha?

I bought Akta pants and shorts last year. I never wore anything else (for riding) from the moment I got them.

 Righteous! Love hearing that!

150€ for pants, great can’t wait to not buy them.

Decided to run an Akta kit in 2023 and couldn't be happier. The quality, fit, and breathability are 100%. Love it.

 Stoked you made that decision.

7IDP Sam Hill knee pads with D3O, why not =) but still hard to beat the Sam hill with level2 protection and similar weight or less is my guess.
  • 1 0
I own both, the Sam hills are amazing but def run a little hotter.

Amazing I'm getting downvoted for promoting actual Canadian made riding gear on a Canadian mtb forum. Would think i was rep'in Rapha riding singlets or something. Wasn't trying to take the piss but where is AKTA stuff actually made? If it was made made in Canada i imagine they would be proud of it? Hard to ride in anything else after wearing NFs stuff. Pricey sure but i know my money is supporting my fellow N. Americans. Also there stuff lasts.

did you see the reply your down voted comment...

rad looking stuff, but still a tad too expensive for my sensibilities. I'm not willing to pay more than $100 for pants or $80 for shorts or $40 for a jersey. Any suggestions?

With that name I was hoping for a Swedish dealer...

 $157 for pants is crazy

It took me WAY too many times for my brain to stop processing that as Akita. Need more sleep!!

Best gloves I’ve used, stoked to try out the new pads soon.

Stuff looks solid, but hate to see plastic parts on my clothing.
