Whatever happened to learning how to ride off a curb, then progressing to a 1 foot drop, then a 2 foot drop, etc.
A lot of the riders here have no skill/technique , Learn the basics before trying a bigger drop or jump.
The same mistakes over and over again.
Unless your goal is Friday Fails.

Instagram is what happened no time to wait until your good need attention now

Then again, I watch Friday Fails specifically to see no-talent a$$ clowns roll up on lines they have no business being on.

That sort of recklessness/stupidity has always been part of mountain biking.

Their goal is probably Friday fails...

There were some exceptionally bad riders in this one! The amount of OTBs was off the charts. Learning the basics is definitely key!!!
  • 3 1
no kidding-I watch these as a reminder that every penny I've spent on coaching (and will spend) was worth it

@PB4UGO - totally agree, that’s why I call these riders Friday Fools.
  • 2 0
There are more riders than ever, more places to ride, and easier access to good trails with bigger features. I have to say this Friday Fails made me wince way more than usual! Some brutal crashes. My favourites will always be people hitting the deck after bouncing down an airbag though!

I would like to thank PB for finally editing the ending properly....well done. Two thumbs up.
  • 18 0
 Hey, I made it! 0:52
  • 4 0
....congratulations?? [that was one of the more painfully looking crashes this week...were you okay?]
  • 7 0
@SATN-XC: haha, thanks. Grade 3 AC Joint separation. Still on the mend, and crashed the same way again last week ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • 7 0
Well stop doing that! lol Glad you're not more hurt tho!
  • 1 0
@deonvg: therapy bands are your best friend. Enjoy that slow tug...
  • 2 1
 more speed needed homie Smile
  • 1 0
@blowmyfuse: Thanks man. Been in PT, helps a lot.
  • 2 0
@NorCalNomad: That might've helped, but what I really should have done is taken the correct line Wink
  • 1 0
@deonvg: yep. they got my 3rd degree under control pretty quickly, but at the same time all 3rd degree's aren't the same.

I've seen some gnarly ones
  • 1 0
Have you done the charlie rock before and wanted to go off the top lip as a challenge? Normal line is definitely to drop off the lower part given how short the landing is

1:20 should be in Sundays vid
  • 3 0
Was coming here to make the same comment.
  • 15 0
That is more dead sailors i've seen since the Titanic
  • 9 0
Damn, some weeks I almost want a Disney FF where it’s just crashing into bushes and tipping over into water. The MTB gods must be angry what with this and all the riders getting hurt at Rampage.
  • 5 0
last week was somewhat tame...this week not so much
  • 3 0
I was thinking the same, some painful looking crashes in this one.

What I learned: Don't follow the guy in the tank top
  • 3 0
I learned to invest in wheelchair manufacturers.
  • 4 0
@number44: Strangely enough there is a local fella who fabricates wheelchairs that's just started building steel HT frames on the side.... coincidence I'm sure.

 Entrails strikes again.
  • 2 0
 Thought I recognized that.
  • 4 0
@CircusMaximus: Ha ha! Yes, the whaleback claims another!
  • 2 0
Oof yes! They should have watched Matt from Ride Hub explain it, this was an oddly perfect explanation of one of the problem aspects he describes. I rolled up on this on Sunday to see someone limping off the trail. I was feeling good about myself up to that point, but that little reminder instilled enough doubt into me to nope right out of the whale's back that day. Watching this will probably make me preemptively nope right out of it next time too!

Third crash on that feature I've seen in three weeks (1st in person and 2 vids)
  • 1 0
@Thisisscott: LOL. After watching that video, I get the heebie jeebies on that feature all the time. Before Matt 'explained' the feature, I had no issues.
  • 1 0
I've lost more skin to the whaleback than any other feature, by far
  • 7 0
I don't think the guy at 1:21 can be called a fail. It was sketchy as hell but he rode it out.
  • 3 0
I consider myself okay at riding and about a mid-level intelligence, maybe a little lower. But I can't figure out why these guys' go so nose heavy on the drops, I assume they're riding their brakes for the drop? It's like there's a sniper in the woods, friggin wild to me.
  • 2 0
cause they lean back to much
  • 8 0
Arse meets back tyre when front when has left the lip. End of story...
  • 5 0
Moment of silence for an entire crew of sailors lost today. Just before Rampage.
  • 3 0
Friday Fails #192 was made possible by the generous donation from the specialists at The Clavicle, and Coccyx Surgical repair Center. Who in turn, would like to thank these riders for making their generous donation possible.

As always, but especially this week, so many people extend their hands to break their fall. Guessing lots of broken wrists. The guy at 1:45 especially. Before I broke mine riding in July, I never noticed the pattern on Friday Fails.
  • 4 0
I thought 'now come on, air bag crashes don't count', but then he rode off the end!!
  • 1 0
From my days riding dirt bikes, I learned to never grab the rear brakes while airborne unless you want the nose to DIVE hard. At least on a dirt bike you can gas it in the air to drop the rear wheel. Haven't any of these people learned about the gyroscopic effect of the rear wheel? Hands off the back brakes while airborne!
  • 4 0
0:57, all that comes to mind is what Marsellus Wallace responds with when Butch asks him if he's okay.
  • 4 0
Whole lotta meat crayons in the footage today
  • 5 0
 Yeah! Blrblbrlrrlbl!
  • 1 0
Aka the sound you made when you eat dirt
  • 2 0
what the heck happened on the charlie dont surf drop????? grabbed a rear brake when he pulled??
  • 1 0
not sure which one you are referring to...but based on how you describe it....sounds like a classic case of taint braking the rear wheel
  • 4 0
That was me. I was off line, and there's a large divot in the rock. Rear wheel got stuck in it while my front wheel was already in the air.
  • 2 0
@deonvg: Are you sure it was a divot in the rock? The video makes it look like your ass hit the rear wheel right before the front end went down. AKA the old "taint-brake".
  • 3 1
@srjacobs: Yes, I'm sure Smile I was there, I think. Watch the video again in 0.25 speed.

Friday Fails - Drops to Death Edition PART 1
  • 3 0
Should’ve just posted the Rampage preride fails.
  • 3 0
Yall sure this isnt the Rampage practice highlights??
  • 3 0
Best opener ever, that was hilarious!
  • 2 0
Wow, a lot of people who don't know how to ride drops this week!! "But my friend said just lean back on the bike...." LOL
  • 2 0
Lots of leg tingles in this weeks addition.
  • 2 0
 That crash at :55....dang....
  • 1 0
That's why you should know how to ride a bike off a curb before trying the 5 ft drop. Also maybe he shouldn't be on a 29er if he throws his body that far back off drops like a dingus.
  • 5 3
@Jvhowube: trust me, I know how to hit drops Smile you hit enough of them and you're bound to crash at some point.
  • 2 0
That video doesn’t do that drop any justice. I’ve spent a lot of time standing on that one and didn’t even recognize it in the vid. Nobody would ever try to hit that that wasn’t legit.
  • 1 0
I'd hope for the crashing technique at :34.

Otherwise many hard slams today, hope the masses are healing well.
  • 1 0
It look like everyone had a dropper and were riding 29ers and also riding with flats. I guess they really don't help much!!
  • 2 0
 Love me some dead sailors...
  • 2 1
2:08 reminded me of an animal that gets hit by a car and crawls off into the bushes to die

2:19 ha ha just digging a trench
  • 1 0
Okay, I think PB cleared out the storage bins of Over the Bars crashes. Next week, nothing but UNDER the bars.
  • 2 0
 Good vintage.
  • 1 0
Pressure police will find the first fail well deserved
  • 10 11
Great news, gents. We're going to start doing Roadie Fails on PB soon as well! Those will be free, MTB content behind the paywall. Be safe and be well, Robin
  • 3 0
As someone who spends a lot of time on both, road fails are often brutal. I’d watch.
  • 1 0
 Through the front door friday!
  • 1 0
1:58 Did he just reload his shotgun to take another rider out?
  • 5 0
Something snapped off his bike and went clanging down the trail. Sounded like a freaking rotor, but my guess is a pedal?

I wanted to give the guy in the video immediately following him two thumbs way up for crawling out of the course to save the rest of the race from postponement. Femur be damned, he wasn't gonna slow a soul down that day. Beer
  • 1 0
Well spotted. Definitely a shotgun right there
  • 1 0
 Fitting last post before Rampage....
