I was trying to work out if it was staged or not!

That was sick. Proper hero dirt conditions too.

Right? Can we all agree that looks like the best dirt in the world.

@tbubier: Agreed from me. I've forgotten what dirt looks like, our trails would suit a fishing rod more than a bike lately.

Man, when i hit a tree it's me that falls into two pieces

Jess has such a good form on the bike - very light on the bike and awesome weight distribution. A real joy to watch

@Dogl0rd: Why does she need gloves to ride fast? I know tons of fast guys that don't wear gloves. Gloves don't make you faster, I also feel like skin to grip contact when its not really cold is the best form of grip. The fabric on gloves moves around your hand when you are gripping.

@Snowsed341: For me, no gloves is awesome in like a 10 degree temperature window, outside of which it's either too cold, or maaaaad sweaty.
  • 8 1
@N-60: Yup. The sweat in heat is downright scary. No matter how many times you rub dirt on your palms.

Have a feeling riders like Jess don't get sweaty palms the way the rest of us do...

It’s a kiwi thing, no one wears gloves here. Don’t know why you would tbh

@fiftypercentsure: @N-60: grip selection is crucial for going gloveless in the heat. I’ll agree that some grips get scary slippery, but with the right grip, it’s no sweat. Really been digging the ODI Reflex, but there are other good ones. And worn out grips are the worst.

I’ve been a big fan of Jess ever since she came on to the international scene, partly because she rides gloveless like Blenki and myself. But also because she’s awesome on the bike.

@nastynate711: worn out ruffians are my favourite! They go so tacky that my gloves stick to them. I'm very particular about gloves though - got to be thin and no bunching on the palm. Kiwis are hard AF riding no gloves

@Tambo: Yes! Still have a whole drawer full of worn down Ruffians because couldn't throw out that tacky gloriousness.
  • 1 0
@Tambo: I was always more of a rouge guy myself for the larger diameter and cushion, same thing with the the tacky rubber though. Only when you ride gloveless some stays on your hands, so had to change them often.

-not an ODI employee

@nastynate711: maybe with no gloves I'd size up too... My current grips are an old pair of ruffians a mate gave me - they must be about 15 years old

Gangsta!! I can't wait till she put's it all together and is a consistent threat for the win. She's had the speed for a longtime now. Go Jess!

Wish they would stop adding fake foley noises on these speed of sound videos. It's so blatantly obvious and takes away from the video.
  • 2 0
For those of us that are dumb....What's a foley noise?
  • 5 0
@fiftypercentsure: foley is creating sound effects after shooting to try and simulate what's on-screen
  • 4 0
@fiftypercentsure: Man made sound effects added in post production. You can sometimes notice they aren't always lined up with the video in this edit.

Great riding! Camera operators need to chill the f*ck out! Riders are the ones doing the sports, stop doing camera sports and ruining the shots.

Who's responsible for this style of filming? They must be brought to justice. Also my head hurts.
  • 8 1
How else would you want this filmed. Helmet GoPro 1st-person footage gets old and you can't see how steep the terrain is. I thought this was cool with a mix of shots.

@AndrewFleming: I just can't stand overly active camera action. The fake shakey stuff annoys me. Hyper close in shots are off putting. Go watch any of the Earthed videos, that's how you shoot bikes.

They are showing "speed" and sound.... its just the series of the video. I personally love this style for these short and sweet videos of the top riders.

Say it louder lol I hate when filmers shake the camera following the rider to add a speed effect @Froday:

@thustlewhumber: they don't need to flap the camera around to show speed - she's fast enough! For this series, surely it makes even more sense than usual to show what is actually happening, not trying to augment it? +1 for Earthed/Rankin getting it right

The shaky images are just awful, but the riding and location are superb.

100% legit talent. So stoked to see how this season goes for you. Rip it.
