PRESS RELEASE: Alpinestars

We have engineered an all-new range of innovative and sustainable Nucleon PLASMA protection for the SPR24 MTB Collection, which includes chest/back and limb protectors. Developed from years of extensive research and testing in the company’s renowned R&D lab, and in close collaboration with professional athletes, our PLASMA protection technology features a new generation viscoelastic, thermoset compound, that has the ability to absorb an impact while at the same time remain elastic and forgiving with the slow and natural movement of the rider’s body. PLASMA’s unique, 3D “M-shaped” structural design maximizes the area of protection while also providing superior adaptivity and flexibility. With its slim profile and highly perforated design, the new PLASMA technology provides riders with the ultimate in terms of breathability and comfort.

How about a little shin protection too?

I'm with you, I'm not putting knee pads on unless they're protecting my shins too. Currently riding leatt knee/shin hardshell protectors.

@dsciulli19: Alpinestars makes the Paragon Plus Shin/Knee but they don't offer much protection.

Just waiting for a protector that has actual protection for the lower ribs! Just put the plasma parts on the whole front and especially sides so it actually protects our ribs!

There are some from other brands like the FOX Airframe Pro or the Leatt CHEST PROTECTOR 6.5 PRO which have massive rib-prtection, but I personally find that too uncompfortable and I had only once crashed on my ribs is now 10 years of downhill and motocross... so no need for me. Also I got the old Alpinestars A10 which hast a little bit of Protection for the ribs.

Alpinestars A10 V2 does protect your lower ribs. I own and like it.

great products but wow someone needs better photography...

Anyone use these? If it hardens upon impact is there still shock absorption or it is like an unpadded hardshell?

Yea there is. This is the break and butter for G form. I strictly use G form because it’s light weight and I can use the protective gear under the jersey / pants.

D3O is nothing more than a non Newtonian fluid. Same principle for quick sand. You absorb the shock under high impact rapid motion. D3O has been a thing for years. G Form, Fox, TLD, etc all use that material. Alpinestar isn’t explicitly saying it on their website, but it’s D3O. It’s a patented material.

I have the previous version of this chest protector. Has saved me a few times. I would definitely trust this.
