@LukeDKlassen: I don't think the first place winner should be allowed to win the people's choice award, they already get 150k plus a Polaris that's worth 20k, while most of the others leave with 5k. Pretty unfair considering what kind of runs Bizet and Andreu threw down.
I think doing a 360 off a cliff would be way more horrifying then a double back on a pretty controlled booter/landing (just look what happened to aggy). But I can't even barspin so take anything I have to say with a grain of salt.
@pigit77: 150k is the total price purse. Which means it is spilt unevenly between the top riders. Sadly I couldn't find any hints or pictures with cheques showing how much the winner and runner up took.
"This year each athlete will receive a $5,000 appearance fee, with the prize purse increasing from $100,000 last year to $150,000 for 2016. As with last year, a Polaris RZR XP 1000 Turbo is also up for grabs for the rider lucky enough to win the People's Choice Award."
@badpotato: Not sure you realise that even these guys are shit scared of the risks, it's not really an exaggeration that you could die up there, why go twice ?
Also Brandon won the award before the even was over so the fan bois kinda f*cked it up.
@badpotato: the problem that a "just for fun run" has the potential to be a career ender when you factor in the terrain and conditions. A lot of guys just waved off the second run all together.. Did Brandon even know he got the fan's choice? Heck, Andreu was a in front for a while before he even did a run...
That course is so crazy, especially this year's. The first section looks like you just have to get by and survive it by the skin of your teeth, and then the second part is like 'ok, now you can actually start your run'.
Wonder if he would have place higher had he done a 3 or something instead of a backflip on that upper hit.
Number 2 and number 3 both did essentially the same thing.... one did flips on their run... one did 3's. But both did variations of the same trick. I think that's why the 1 slot was so solid... mad variation.
Rhis is a good run, definitely top 3 run, but Antoine didnt got robbed at all.. to be honest for me the one that got robbed was Carson Storch.. Storch's run was definitely a run for second position.. Antoine only has the double back flip pretty much
A perfectly executed double back flip, and still 3 points short of Semenuk. I really thought Bizet put down the best run.... Not taking anything away from Semenuk, he's a phenomenal rider, but I don't think it was a winning run.
Best trick by a long mile. Greatest impact on everyone, balls to do a second run, and a much better attitude than the winner, who I respect, but there is something not right (although perfectly within the rules) about declining doing a second run in a contest like Rampage; it is like losing time at the end of a football/basketball/soccer game: legal but not too clean/ethic by FairPlay standards...
you must be too young to realize how dangerous this competition is. there is no comparison whatsoever to declining a second run and killing time in a direct opposition sport like football. not like it needs an explanation, but when you kill time in football, you keep the opponent from improving their score against your score. by not taking a second run, it does nothing to affect the ability of your opposition to improve their score, and in fact, it helps your opponents by establishing that this is the only score that they need to beat. by semenuk declining a second run, it means that he was content with the run that he had completed, and is willing to win or lose with it. perhaps he did not feel it could be improved, perhaps the competitors crashes affected him, it got windy, whatever it was, it was his decision to roll with his score. the expectation that you have for him to take another run is ludicrous, and in my opinion your view is usually held by a spectatiing vulture- you know, the person who is there only to see the carnage. perhaps the "attitude" of the winner is focused on realizing his goals, and self preservation- how selfish.
@obee1: No offense taken in stating your opinion, and I find internet insults/fights useless, but no "spectating vulture" here. Like I said, I respect him and I know that it is within the rules not to do a second run, but I think Rampage is not like any other slope style/freeride competition where points of tricks/runs are perfectly prepared, measured and programmed. I think it is more of an "adventurous" (if such a word exists) competition.... and yes: with a lot more risk. In any case BS won, he was also the people´s choice (people even voting before the competition started...), but it is fair to say that he left a colder impression than some of the other riders, Bizet included.
@MrEtnie: I will not take the risk, I will repeat myself: I respect him. But that does not mean I don´t prefer riders´ attitudes like Bizet´s or MacFarlane´s who just did not quit. I am sure my point is clear from the beginning (and there is no reason to keep on going) although obviously not shared by Obee1, you and others; no problem with that.
@Davichin: fwiw lacondeguy was the people's choice leader before the riding even took place. But your targeting semenuks "attitude" is boring and redundant. Every competition he enters/ wins has people lament his " colder impression" or other ridiculousness. The fact is, semenuks on another level that very very few riders can match, and we are lucky to have him choose this sport to participate in. He approaches the game with a cerebral and calculated attitude, and that's part of why he's so much better than the rest. His lack of goofiness for e camera reflects the concentration and focus he works at. Appreciate his riding, and realize his approach is determined and professional.

My guess is something like 50k for the winner, 25k second, 15k third, and so on towards the 10th place... don't know... adding up to 150k.
Also Brandon won the award before the even was over so the fan bois kinda f*cked it up.
