With the 2024 team rumours season reaching its conclusion it's finally time we get to see the fresh bikes of those switching teams ahead of the upcoming race season. Following the news that Vali Höll has made her way back to YT in one of the biggest team moves of the silly season, we have grabbed the details to find out how the current World Champion and 2023 World Cup overall winner is speccing her bike for 2024.

bigquotesWith Tues, our engineers pulled out all the stops. Known for its formidable speed, it's a race-ready rig that's seen the lion's share of podium finishes, few more so than when under the control of returning YT athlete Valentina Höll. The Uncaged approach gives riders a choice. Free from the confines of sponsorship, they can set their bike up however they desire. Vali's race setup is proven and sees her team up with some familiar favorites for the year ahead. YT

bigquotesThe Tues was definitely easy to get used to again. It’s the bike I learned my basics on and made some great memories with in my junior career with YT.Vali Höll

bigquotesIt’s great to welcome Vali back to YT, and have her part of our MOB DH program. The character and spirit she brings is a perfect fit for our current team. For 2024 Vali will ride the same products as she is confident with - Rockshox / SRAM / DT Swiss / Ergon. I’m happy to welcome these brands into our DH program supporting the Live Uncaged philosophy that we established with our enduro team.Gunnar Franke, MOB Team Manager

Swapping to a new team and bike can be a big change for a rider, but apart from the swap from a Trek Session frame to the YT Tues, Vali's setup is very similar to last year's.

photo
While the rest of the team is running Fox suspension Vali has been able to bring over the RockShox Boxxer and Super Deluxe coil setup she was running on her Trek Session last year.

The addition of an Ochain device is perhaps the biggest departure on Vali's Tues for the start of 2024.

Vali is no stranger to the YT Tues so we expect her to be straight back to her winning speed in 2024.

It’s crazy how they nailed a time less design on that one. Not looking outdated at all after all those years

 Mullets are so 2023 Smile

Just built a full 29er raaw yalla so I’m glad to hear this.

Probably has something to do with the fact that the mullet Tues runs an imperial shock so she'd be stuck with a Vivid Coil, and I doubt Rockshox would want it to look like one of their top sponsored riders had chosen a decade-old product over the newer one that is supposedly loads better. I'd imagine the new Tues prototype will allow for either full 29 or mullet on the same frame to get around this issue.

@samdaman1: Or she likes the full size wheels

Apart from the skunkworks suspension guts, it's a WC winning bike set up that anyone could source and many can afford. Still a value.
  • 19 3
you could probably get similar performance with custom tuned suspension.

@konadan: Have Avalanche do your suspension and it'll far exceed what Vali's currently running.
  • 2 0
@Bad-Mechanic: Awesome that Avalanche is still around. I had no idea.

@Bad-Mechanic: I am a devoted follower of Craig. He is an artist with shims. I currently have a shock (CR) in his hands for one of my customers. Unfortunately, his way of selling his services is the biggest hurdle to his success. He is almost unbearable on the phone and you should see his estimates. They go on for days and even as a professional in the trade I have a tough time deciphering what is needed, and what it will cost. Just about every customer I've sent his way goes on his website and can't make a next move under the information paralysis. Like all great artists, he can be an outright PITA to deal with. I wish I could take a course from him or otherwise learn the Jedi "Chooner" ways but as with most things that are mysteriously incredible, the art of his work will cease to exist once he retires which will be soon. I will forever be a devoted fan of his. Just need to pony up at some point and get a full setup from him so I can have the ultimate suspension time capsule.

 What them calipers?????

 Code Red

 @suspended-flesh: not code
Proto
  • 4 0
 A new model from Sram.
  • 2 0
@suspended-flesh: that’s the brake fluid not the caliper
  • 4 0
Vital's been talking about them for a while. Maven, supposedly a complete break from the modulation offered on the codes. They bite hard and fast, and the bite point doesn't wander.
  • 1 0
@noodlewitnosteeze: Where have you heard about the performance of them? I am really intrigued by the prospect of a SRAM brake with the power that of something like a Dominion A4 or a Cura 4
  • 1 0
@samdaman1: That I cannot say. Sorry.
  • 4 2
Seems very telling of what she thought of the Trek High Pivot bike that she would add the OChain to the Tues. I really just need to bit the bullet and try one out this season Frown
  • 3 1
They probably give her some $$ to run it.
  • 9 0
What does running an O-Chain on the non-HP bike tell you about what she thought of the HP bike?
  • 1 1
@BrambleLee: That pedal kickback is real on HL bikes.
  • 5 0
@Leethal-1: Look at the WC DH paddock, a lot of riders are running the O-chain. No way a small company like that is paying all those riders other than giving them to pros for free. Listen to the podcast YT is fully open components team, Moir said the same thing.

It makes the rear suspension just work better, been running one for two seasons. Price is hard to swallow, but I def think it was worth it.
  • 5 1
Wishing Vali all the best this year. Bike is sexy AF.
  • 5 1
Who said short riders need to run a mullet setup?
  • 5 2
Don’t worry it’s coming really soon.
  • 20 1
 My butt crack.
  • 2 3
@BenPea: Size up and ride centered and that won't be a problem
  • 5 1
Oh YT...why you don't show us the new Proto?
  • 1 0
Photos are of the existing (4 year old) model Tues. Surely she has been riding the same prototype bike that Oisin and Sian have been riding
  • 1 0
what is this prototype tues you speak of? i dont see that anywhere on the net
  • 3 0
The metallic boxxer red is effing beautiful
  • 4 2
That looks stunning, so glad it’s not in a black and YT colour way
  • 2 1
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it I know these bikes are pretty outdated but it’s like that for a reason because it works
  • 4 0
they still look great. the Fun Dip spoon of that rocker link part is visually appealing...

also: YEAHHH MUUUUUUUSH

@owl-X: fun dip spoon! The best part of fun dip

Looking back on it, the best thing about Van Halen was Sammy Hagar's autobiography. and it's MoiMoiTV cmonbro

How do they not have a new Tues yet

 Such a good looking bike.

155 psi in a dual crown seems pretty high. I would run 90 psi in a 40; why is the Boxxer so much higher, even with the bigger legs?
  • 16 8
 She's heavy?
  • 4 0
If I had to assume it would probably be for the same reason the 38 needs so much more pressure than the zeb. The 38 uses a smaller air spring piston (and a larger negative spring relative to the piston size but that’s not super relevant here for this comparison) so it needs more pressure to achieve the same force on the piston. I’d assume the same is true for the boxxer and the 40, just reversed.
  • 6 0
i run 130-140 psi with 2 tokens in the former version of the Boxxer....huge negative air spring.....I'm guessing the updated version continued on this trend.....plus she rides harder/faster/ bigger than most dudes you'll see on the serious trails at any bike park, so probably needs the support and lily has custom tuned damper for exact feel she wants...i run only a 400# spring on my coil too on My YT, but she's at 425......btw Im 200-215lb guy who's reasonably quick at the park on both black/double black tech and the biggest jump lines....just not world cup fast, eh?
  • 9 0
She is also a super strong pro-racer hammering down brutally harsh tracks. If the average rider (even if an amateur racer) hops on a pro's set up, its probably going to feel harsh and shitty. That's going to contribute a few PSI to the difference me thinks.
  • 3 0
@ShawMac: Sometimes pros even say their setups feel harsh and shitty until they're up to speed. I ride my 40 at like 70 psi which is laughable.
  • 1 2
@dotman: definitely getting into bbw territory
