Press Release: 4X ProTour

The 4X Pro Tour has announced a four-round series for 2024. Visiting three countries and a variety of tracks, the 2024 4X ProTour will showcase the talents of the world's best 4X riders to determine who the fastest riders are:

Round 1: Val Di Sole, Italy - June 14th
Round 2: Jablonec, Czech Republic - July 13th
Round 3: Dobrany, Czech Republic - August 3rd
Round 4: Szczawno Zdroj, Poland - September 7th

The series will begin on June 14th, when we return to the incredible Val Di Sole in Italy. This track has it all and the racing always delivers. Under floodlights this perfect 4X track will light up the valley of the sun once more.

There is no doubt that JBC 4X Revelations, will continue to prove itself as one of the wildest events on not only the 4X calendar, but on the international MTB calendar. Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic will host the legendary event and round 2 of the series on July 13th. Built by three-time World Champion, Tomas Slavik, both riders and bikes will be tested to their limit.

Dobřany, Czech Republic, will take the riders back over to the east of Europe on August 3rd. Another flat-out track that has proved itself as a great spectacle when hosting two rounds of the European 4X Series in 2018 and 2019, as well as 4X ProTour events in the last 3 years. If you want big jumps and high speed, this is the race for you.

The series finals will take place at the high-speed track in Poland. Szczawno Zdroj, has been a regular on the circuit since 2012 where it hosted the European Championships. The floodlit track will no doubt provide an amazing end to the season.

Series organiser, Scott Beaumont:

“2024 looks like being our best-ever season of 4X before the gate even drops. We return to venues that have always supported the 4X ProTour, who provide perfect organisation and immaculate race tracks. We look forward to welcoming riders and fans back to our amazing sport once again with no politics, frustration or rights issues. Good times guaranteed. See you in the gate”.

4X is infinitely better than any type of e-bike racing. Given Warner Brother's enthusiasm to turn MTB into a TV show I'm surprised they're not all over it.

Who wouldn't want to see Rob Warner doing XXX(x) videos though?

100%. Four Cross is more MTB than ebikes will ever be. Any schlep off the couch with $15k can show up and race an ebike enduro, but you have to have some real gravitas to line up for a 4X event.

@chriskneeland: This schlepp is in need of an eeb....

@jokermtb: Don't give up on yourself yet man. Start slow, measure your progress, stay consistent, and before you know it you'll be a real mountain biker again.

I think riders would be better served stepping away from the two narratives of hoping that corporate tastemakers invest in the right mtb discipline or international sports bodies lend legitimacy to the right mtb discipline. Build more tracks and people will show up. Get people together and someone will direct marketing resources to advertise to them. On any Saturday I see all the stuff people say they want — youth participation, approaching gender parity, sick riding — at a county park where people did the work to establish the right public-private partnership. Maybe think about how much mtb media celebrates some nonsense like sea otter where they bulldoze the track once the show is over and how that could be different.

A bike checks articles would be nice for these events. I wonder what they use these days with so many options of wheel diameter, frames, suspension travel, etc.

looking at the photos, the classic specialized sx 4x bike seems to have aged well

Slavik races on a Ghost DJ bike, called the Nirvana. He’s also last years champ.

There is a massive industry and viewership in all of these overlooked events. Redbull could really usurp the UCI on these events that people would actually watch. They should do a criterium series for roadies. I'd watch that for free. And the advertising opportunities could make lots of revenue. But I'm just an idiot. Redbull should keep doing what they are doing.

 Heck yes!

They need to make more courses like the Champery World Champs in 2011. Yes, the same event as Danny Hart's run. The 4x was so much fun to watch. The top of the course had a little mayhem through the woods, before exiting to a more traditional 4x course.

Long live 4x! Waiting for the UCI to realize how much they're missing the spectability of this sport.

Could even be an Olympic event

That's still a lot fewer rounds than they had the past few seasons. Scott needs to bring it back to the UK too. Or maybe run it together with the iXS events. Just like back in the days, I think there are quite some racers who could have a go at both DH and 4X.

The crowds in those pics look awesome. Too bad this isn’t a world wide event. Some North American stops would be cool.

If you’re in Europe racing 4X, who owns and operates the tracks? Not just these four listed here, but the whole learning-practice-regional racing-pro infrastructure? Are they open often? Are there kids and their amateur racing parents coming out?

Most UK 4X tracks are at bike parks, so run as pay your way in the park an ride. Not as big as BMX, any where near as big as BMX's inferstucture with regional clubs training an coaching. But most 4Xers are BMX'ers too if not, they'll use a BMX club nights for gate practice etc. It's is a shame as 4X deserves to be WAY bigger than it is....

I know the danger rating would be off the charts, but I would love to see 4x on a downhill track.

There used to be a race like this at Snow Summit in Ca back in the late 90’s.
