What happens when a bike company shifts focus and folds its race team? In the case of GT Bicycles, it meant that more grassroots athletes received support including "Trailrippers" Nathan and Ruben de Vaux from Machynlleth, Mid-Wales in the United Kingdom. Aged 15 and 13, the boys have been racing downhill for a number of years both in the UK and Europe, and were signed by GT at the end of 2023.

They recently received their new GT Fury frames and all the parts to build up their race bikes for 2024. In order to build both bikes simultaneously, a village hall was hired for a day where the boys worked with the help of local mechanic Steve Beech (Wheelism). 15-year old Nathan completed his own bike whilst Ruben learned alongside Steve.

The boys are already up to speed on the new bikes and can be seen shredding the trails in the Dyfi forest as well as at Dyfi Bike Park on their instagram page https://www.instagram.com/trailrippers/
