The Intense Tazer e-machine isn't shocking news, since we've seen those Shimano-powered offerings around for a while now, but Intense is back in the news for deciding to create an alloy version. In fact, it's the only alloy production bike Intense has made in over six years, but the hydroformed 6061 T6 aluminum is a nod at the brand's roots.

The bike has 155 mm of rear travel, uses a 160 mm fork, and rolls on mixed-size wheels. It'll be powered by a Shimano Steps motor that offers up 630 Wh of assistance for the Pro model and 504 Wh for the Expert version.

Mixed wheel sizes.

It has some other modern details too: the reach for the four sizes ranges from 417-497 mm, the head angle is 64.8 degrees, the effective seat tube angle is 75.2 degrees, and the bike uses a UDH.

Intense says "the Tazer is all about getting out there and enjoying the mountain bike experience, helping you climb faster, ride further, and do more of the 'good stuff.'

bigquotesIt’s been fun working on an aluminum project again after many years of focusing solely on carbon fiber, and I really like how the Tazer Alloy has turned out. We spec’d it with the latest and greatest Shimano STEPS, which has been a proven platform for us, and combined it with the tried-and-true kinematics and geo of our carbon Tazer. It also got a smart industrial design, sleeker look and extended range. It was fun to create and it’s even more fun to ride.Jeff Steber, Intense Founder & CEO

The Intense Tazer Alloy is available now in the US. The UK and Europe will gain access to the Pro model for $7499/€5999/£5499 in August and the Expert model for $6499/€4999/£4499 in September.

they finally got rid of that god awful battery belly bulge..talk about horrible line choices.
  • 4 3
No storage box in the downtube im sure they could borrow the design from someone like orange

iJak, what!? you don't want your mountain bike to look like a pregnant praying mantis?
  • 13 6
@Compositepro: it's eBike... why would you need a storage? You can carry your 65L backpacking bag on you and not brake a sweat Big Grin

Yep, the old model did have that beer belly and frame was designed kinda ugly. This looks much better. Still waiting for a lightweight ebike with the TQ or Fazua motor from Intense.
  • 4 0
Agreed. That old bike was terrible looking, even for an ebike, which are usually terrible looking.
  • 2 0
@valrock: you missed the otherone which was bulbous right there where you could get a suitcase ….. dont worry you had to be there at the time
  • 2 1
they've done away with the god awful beer belly and replaced it with the god awful top tube
  • 1 0
Is the seat tube in front of the bottom bracket?
  • 1 0
@valrock: you'd break your ass, though
  • 2 0
i agree this is an improvement, but the cable routing leaves something to be desired.

I get that it’s PB kool to hate on Intense, but I think this bike is a solid looking effort. Well done, Intense.

You can get their carbon Tazer for $4300 direct. Even cheaper thru our website too! They seem... lost, Intense. They have been trying every 1990s sales tactic in the book for the last 12 months to get dealers to take on even more inventory. Now they are undercutting the dealers they sold bikes to less than a year ago. The $4300 direct price is less than what we paid intense for these bikes. Meanwhile I noticed they joined up w/ AMA Motocross after Thundervalley as a main sponsor of the series/tv coverage. Surprising how they didn't have cash to offer dealers credits on recent purchases when they dropped prices direct. This could have fostered future sales. However, they did have cash for some questionable advertising, at best.

I think the AMA Motocross deal was a partnership with Parts Unlimited. That is what put them in motorcycle dealers as well.

@Tallboy97: they've been available at moto dealers for a few years now. Same as Spesh's e-bikes. A moto shop in South Florida managed to pickup a massive order of bikes that were supposed to be for my local shop, the biggest S dealer in Florida. They magically got the order even though spesh said they were out of stock and unable to fullfil the bike shop order. Money talks, and motorsports shop's have way more purchasing power then bike shops. This really burned my buddy who purchases for the bike shop. Spesh has sold out, they are willing to screw over decades old dealers who are considered some of their biggest shops for spesh. All a money grab at this point. Behind the scenes of purchasing for a major shop like this is really interesting, my friends been doing it for over a decade and before that a salesman for 10+. He's got a hell of an insite into the industry most will never know about.

But the bike is $5300 on their website and $4749 on your website?
  • 1 0
@nickgarrison: both sites require a discount code.
  • 12 3
Already dated before it's release. Best get the Pro model becuase the Shimano batt SUUUUCKS compared to others. The 630 WH is like other brand's 500.

its more about the Motor being power hungry & rubbish
  • 13 3
Can I buy it at Costco?
  • 4 0
 Soon!!!
  • 5 1
The 5 year no questions asked return policy could come in handy for this thing to be honest
  • 1 0
Welcome to Costco, I love you.

The carbon Tazer may not have been the most aesthetically pleasing bike, but it rode incredibly well. Coming from a moto background it felt a LOT like my dirtbike and handled extremely well. My Turbo Levo I have now is ok, but doesn't handle near as well as the Tazer did. One of my friends rode the new alloy Tazer and was surprised at how well it rode.
  • 3 0
It's about as heavy as your dirtbike as well
  • 8 2
If only it had more power and an automatic transmission- then I could get even MORE done!
  • 6 0
 AI toaster/kettle says no
  • 1 0
I thought you all love big engines and automatic transmission in North America, talk about hypocrisy.
  • 6 1
 60 lbs for the XL.
  • 5 1
I don't like this cable routing
  • 13 0
You will if you have to run a new shifter or brake cable though an ebike that routes the cables through the motor. It definitely not the prettiest but it is definitely more functional for a mechanic.
  • 2 0
@bedell99: Why even go internal then? They could've left it fully external if they're going for serviceability in their design.
  • 1 0
@dantecusolito: Your absolutely right. I would love to keep brake line run externally but aesthetics mean a lot to many people.
  • 1 0
@bedell99: It's only one small step from what they did to go full external. The cables are floating in the middle of the frame as it is.
  • 4 0
Love to see intense raw aluminium back in action
  • 1 0
Agree! It's a good looking bike.
  • 3 0
Just bring back the Tazer slalom/4X frame, the last veriosn, Tazer VP FRO in long, thanks
  • 4 0
It looks ok, but I’m not touching any ebike with a Shimano motor
  • 1 0
I agree the carbon ones are funky looking, But I just picked up a DVO expert carbon version for $3900, which is cheaper than the alloy. I'll take the ugly discount!
  • 2 0
They were selling carbon models on sale in Canada for less than these USD msrps. I almost bought one.
  • 3 0
Imagine getting a wiring short on that , it will be shocking
  • 4 1
Tazer... potentially favorite french police's bike.
  • 1 2
I still don't get why they didn't tazer the dude if they had to do something crazy.
  • 1 1
@BenPea: more is more, less is less for them I guess.
  • 3 0
 "Don't tase me, bro".

Famous last words
  • 1 0
It's okay, I suppose, but why go for such a tiny shock? 185x55, I'd have expected the now-industry-standard for the category 205x60-65
  • 3 0
 Don't get tazered.
  • 3 1
Really like that, but 51mm offset fork, why Intense?
  • 1 2
i run a 37 heh heh heh and a 37mm stem to match. combo made in heaven
  • 1 2
WAIT! WTF release an alloy frame and not give it more travel. It’s still using shock lengths from the 90’s. I mean I rode an intense M1 yeah, Long time ago. But what happened to the vision of that company.
  • 3 0
 Don't taze me bro
  • 1 0
Does riding a 60lb E-Bike ride like a 35lb "regular" bike? asking for a friend.
  • 1 0
It does not. Answer from a friend.
  • 2 0
You have to ride a 60 pound bike to fully appreciate how much you don’t want to own any 60 pound bike.
  • 5 3
2017 called, they want their eMTB back.
  • 2 1
Wow I saw the spec sheet and really for over $7500 you get intense hubs and performance elite stuff? Cmon intense.
  • 4 2
Intense is still around huh? That’s cool.
  • 1 2
I mean the only good thing they make is the m29. That bike is really really good
  • 4 0
New Tracer 29 is amazing as well.....
  • 1 0
@Marky771: it’s over weight and the test showed it wasn’t great
  • 1 0
@Marky771: Hell yeah! Loving my Tracer 29
