License structure
The FMBA has made it even easier to be a member and get to know what it is like to be part of the FMB World Tour:

1. FMB World Tour License
The FMB World Tour License makes it possible for athletes to compete at all FMB World Tour Events if they are qualified for the respective event level. Every athlete with this license will be listed in the FMB World Ranking. The FMBA has also reduced the cost by 50 Euros, offering the ticket to the FMB World Tour Ranking for 100 Euros this season. If you want to compete at Gold and Silver Events this season and get your hands on vital points in order to climb the ladder, then this is the license you will need to reach your goals.

1. FMB Free Amateur License
For athletes, who just want to compete at Bronze Level Events this year, the FMB is offering a free sign-up. Coming with no cost whatsoever, an athlete who registers for this license will be listed in the global amateur ranking. The best amateur at the end of the season will receive his FMB World Tour License for the following year so he can take the next step to compete and collect points for the FMB World Ranking.

Points Structure
From this year onwards there will be 14 riders qualifying for SWC events. To ensure that young and proven talent still has a fair chance of moving up the FMB World Ranking, the FMBA has adjusted the points breakdown at FMB Gold and Silver Events. Gold Events will play an even bigger role in the future, as riders will be able to shake up rankings considerably by competing at these contests and taking away more points than previously. From this season onwards a win at Gold events will be rewarded with 100 points more than in the past and will be the equivalent of a sixth place at an SWC Event. The FMB World Tour Ranking already reflects these changes for the past 52 weeks. We are sure that young and talented athletes will take advantage of this and are super excited to see who will be the next to break into the elite of Slopestyle mountain biking.

@adrennan: Looks like construction at trestle is why CFF was cancelled this year
  • 1 0
It's so frustrating, because even if someone had the skill to compete and challenge for podium, they'd never be able to do it. Even if the CFF was still on, thats only one event for the entire country. SO much pressure on only one event to make or break your entire career.

 Rampage? ._.

Rampage is a big mountain event, I’m glad it isn’t part of the FMB. It would be unfair to the guys who don’t want to do rampage, because it would hurt there overall score.

@MTBingSpartan: oooh ok... that makes sense to me. Thx for the explanation.

I remember though when it was part of the FMB tour. You would have full on slopestyle athletes competing in the event like Martin Soderstrom and Anthony Messere. That was definitely fun to watch.

nothing in USA. dirt jumping must be dead. sad

There's a massive DJ scene in the U.S. It's sad that up and coming dirt jump riders really only have a few options for FMB contests other than Colorado Freeride Fest

@lindblomxc: Colorado is canceled now too

It's a pretty dangerous activity, basically our whole city removes anything that looks like a jump. I always envision, "that's unsafe" municipal dweeb committees walking around, "that's unsafe, that's unsafe, THAT'S unsafe, that's unsafe, that is unsafe mister!"

@ccccc: ? Who says CFF is canceled I have heard nothing about this?!???
  • 2 0
@Keystone08: it's on their website. Construction work going on, so they cancelled for event safety reasons

 @catweasel: Damn that sucks.

@Kramz: Yeah exactly, then wonder why kids are so depressed nowadays.. Everything that comes with a little risk and thrill is percieved as bad, and for people like us nothing is fun without risk an thrill!!

Dirt Jumping is far from dead, it is just moving in a different direction than the organization and essentially the taxation that is the FMB; and why wouldn't it? For anyone other than the top 10 riders the FMB is not worth even trying for. Anyone in North America without huge financial support might as well move overseas if they want to attend more than a couple contests per year. Concepts like Fest Series and independent films will be where a ton of riders gravitate to in the future. If the FMB wants to evolve they need to have separate divisions; North American and European with ideally an equal amount of gold and silver events. Then a finals series where the top ranked athletes from each division ride against each other. Sort of like a play offs sort of set up. Idk I'm just rambling. But seriously for such a large organization this shit is scattered as hell.

Living in Colorado, Dirt Jump is far from dead, I have a dirt jump specific bike park 10 minutes from my house. There's a major dirt jump bike park about 30 minutes away. And even after that, there are 2 more bike parks within a 1-1.5 hour drive from my house. Keep in mind that 3 out of 4 of those also have slopestyle features on them.
