You should have to pass some sort of test before being allowed to ride a bike , could be ; Person woman man camera , what was the last one ........... oh yeah TV !
Remember kids make sure you do at least 2 of these 3 things when you do a jump or drop 1. Go really slow 2. Turn your bars as soon as you land 3. Lean all the way back
every time i watch these videos, i wonder how someone can do such a bad job. then every time i crash and i am glad i didn't have a camera on me to document the embarrassment!
@mark2203: Many of the trails around Austin, Texas were height-cleared by my 6'6" body. The numerous closed head injuries may explain a lot of my behavior.
@mark2203: Ive been knocked off my bike a few times by low branches/fallen branches .
Also had a tree jump out in front of me after landing a drop. Hit it so hard sheered off my brake lines and shift cables. I dodged to the side a bit but leg took a massive hit. Bruised from groin to knee so bad that i had a pool of blood under the skin that had to grow out over several months.
Then met this amazing Mt. bike woman with the matching bruise on other leg. Figured it was a sign so i married her.
Looking at how you are going to justify spending money on a bike and not that vasectomy? May I introduce to you the new freeride move called "huck to sterility"
@tbmaddux My first thought was "Holy Ball Crushing Huck to Flat Batman".... Ouch. The face plant at 0:33 was pretty nasty too. The one I can't figure out is at 2:43 where the guy rides off the trail and just keeps going straight into the tree.
@lagranger: Man, you need to put a warning on your post. Most of us have seen that video, but it's not something you just click on without a warning. It's traumatizing.
@lagranger: oh god that's chilling. like, hairs standing up on the back of my neck, have bad dreams that wake me up from that feeling of falling toward imminent death. So glad to hear that guy survived.
@mybaben: if he had a pedal strike he may have been trying to get a few last second pedal stokes in. Not sure if that would be normal or not for that spot.
I saw a kid on my street eat shit super bad on a wooden jump yesterday in his driveway, and one of my first thoughts was "that would have been great for Friday Fails!" I am an a*shole apparently.
That one big gap was an epic send at least! But for everyone else... please spend a year riding a BMX bike and learn some bike control, you have to be precise on a BMX because little wheels and rigid frame/fork leave very little room for error! I remember chalking up a few big saves on my DH bike to what I learned from riding a BMX on jumps and skatepark.
F'real. A winter at the skatepark does so much for trail riding. Some of these folks should try it brakeless and maybe they'd quit stabbing front brake when they are landing.
WEAK. That’s shut down?! Ugh we’re making a cross country trip next year (covid f*cked us this year) and that was a plan to hit that. LAME @chriskneeland:
Can confirm that both the ground and rocks are hard. Haven't tried the trees yet but they don't seem to move much. Had a good bail yesterday where I hit a pile of basically beach sand and slammed into the completely packed ground right beside it. Elbow pad and full face took the brunt of the fall so apart from a bunch of bruising on my right side life is good.
Good reminder to ride within my limits. Every week, seems like more than half of these are people wearing xc lids, wearing basketball shorts and riding hardtails who clearly appear new to the sport. I don't really enjoy watching those, but I guess watching the enduro bro's fails kind of makes up for it.
No trees were hurt in the making of this compilation of Friday Fails!
Nice. Also good representation from East and West. The only complaint - people - learn to film in Landscape mode.
2:45, I'm still trying to figure out what this guy was thinking! He looked like he went off the trail on purpose. He didn't touch the brakes or even try and get back on...then BAM, right into the tree!!
well that was pleasantly surprising. usually on fridays i end up saying, "gotta go faster. speed's your buddy dude!" but today, today this might have been the speed collection of things gone wrong. good stuff. 2:45 is the best.
I broke my collarbone about a month ago and seeing these Friday Fails just takes me back to that exact moment and I swear I clench a little inside thinking about that pain.
@getonyourbike: i was checking out your IG, and damn, I'm blown away by your accident and recovery. Props to you for picking yourself back up. It's truly inspiring.
haha, someone's trying to stir up the shitstorm from last week. i think it's funny, other people are sensitive about "fat-shaming". i think that was aunt nicole!
Person woman man camera , what was the last one ........... oh yeah TV !
It was over 20yrs ago , bring em on !
1. Go really slow
2. Turn your bars as soon as you land
3. Lean all the way back
(I was luckily uninjured)

BTW he failed cos he hit a rock with pedal just b4 take off
And walked away haha
Which reminds me that I'd really like to know how that poor soul's recovery is coming along.
Mistake was hitting it that day in the wind, but I’d hit it again without the wind. It’s not a bad jump.
Yours truly,
Tree
Suggestion: leave a couple of successful attempts to amp up the anxiety if they are going to make it or not!
Overall, 10/10 would watch other people prove trees don't move again.
