Giro Coalition Spherical: New Lightweight Full-face Helmet Delivers Big Trail Protection With All-Day Comfort

Giro Sport Design, the cycling world’s design leader, today launched the Coalition Spherical, an impressively lightweight full-face helmet that still provides heavyweight protection. At a mere 800 grams in size medium, the ASTM-DH/ NTA-certified MTB helmet delivers the advanced protection of Spherical Technology™ powered by Mips®, sandwiching a low-friction slip-plane between independent EPP and EPS foam layers designed to optimize management of both high-speed and low-speed impacts. Coalition Spherical also debuts the new patent-pending Halo System chinbar, an innovative new technology to better manage chinbar impacts. Providing 11% more efficient cooling than the already category-leading Insurgent Spherical helmet, Coalition Spherical manages to rival the ventilation and cooling power of some competitors’ road helmets, with 25 vents pairing massive front intake ports with efficient rear exhaust vents via deep internal channeling. One of Coalition's most impressive innovations lies hidden inside: the patent-pending Halo System combines a chinbar with Pebax® (a material that is engineered to provide the perfect range of flex and rigidity) and elastomeric bushings that are integrated into the EPS to absorb and dissipate kinetic forces.The result is a helmet that exceeds standard chinbar deflection certification testing by almost 2x.

Beyond protection and cooling power, a host of features improve rider comfort, including the sweat management of the DryCore™ brow pad, odor control of Ionic+™ treatments, two different thickness sets of removable cheek pads to help fine-tune fit, and an intuitive Fidlock® buckle. The Coalition Spherical sets a new benchmark for lightweight full-face protection.


The Coalition Spherical lightweight full-face helmet is available in three sizes (XS/S, M/L, and XL/XXL) and four colorway options (Matte Dark Shark Dune, Matte Black, Matte Metallic Coal/Mineral, and Matte White/Ano Blue).
