In its early years, Pinkbike.com was run from the basement of a house in British Columbia, Canada. The name Pinkbike.com was originally thought up as a joke, the antithesis of names like "extremebiking.com" and "hardcorebiking.com". As time passed, word spread, and Pinkbike grew into the world-renowned source for mountain bike news it is today.

-
For best results when uploading video you would want it to be exported to a h.264 codec. We support most generic file types for video (.mov,.avi.flv) and most photo file types (.bmp,.jpeg,.gif).
-
In order to add a comment to a picture or video, you will have to be viewing it first. While you're viewing the picture or video, simply scroll down and type your comment in the empty text box and click the 'Submit' button, and it will submit your comment. In order to remove your comment from a picture or video, you have to be the owner of it (the person that submitted it to us). If that is true, you can click the red 'X' that is on the far right of the comment to remove it from your picture or video.
-
Scroll down until you can see a link labeled 'Disable comments' underneath your image. Once clicked, other users won't be allowed to add comments to your photos/videos.

The tag POD/VOD refers to Photo of the Day (POD) and Video of the Day (VOD). Both of these items are moderator selected, however if you are interested in getting your video or image a review to be a POD or VOD, you are able to send them to News who will review them, and possibly make them a POD or VOD. Note: We do not promote movies or photos that have been poached, or stolen from any other users. As well, we do not link to photos or videos off different sites. POD/VOD's are always chosen from Pinkbike.com. If you are going to submit an image or video for POD/VOD review, please ensure it is promoting the use of a helmet, because safety comes first.

Favorites is a system we implemented to aid users in finding a photo or a video that they really like. What does it mean? A user can add an image or video to their favorites list by clicking the "Add to Favorites" button, located on the right side, underneath the user's Headshot. Then, once added to your favorites, you can view your profile, click on your favorites, and your favorite photos and videos will be shown.
-
If you are having issues while playing a video on our website please contact bugs@pinkbike.com with your issue.
Buy & Sell Usage
-
Posting in the Buy & Sell should be a fairly straightforward process. What you want to do is visit the Buy & Sell page to start. On the left side of the main window you should see Post Ad. Click on that, and follow the steps that are shown. Note: When posting a Buy & Sell entry, try to include any information someone would like to know (i.e. price, weight, active phone number for day and night, email, color and/or size).
-
Pinkbike.com does incorporate a repost function. What this means is that after your ad has been active for 48 hours or more, you have the ability to go and repost the item. In order to do this, view your Buy and Sell ad, and a button labeled "Repost" should be visible. Once clicked, it will repost the add.
-
Once your product has been sold, or you have decided you would like to remove your ad, you can either delete the ad, or mark it as sold. Deleting the ad will remove it completely from the database, leaving no trace of the item. If you would like, you can mark your item as 'Sold', which will remove it from the listing, but keep it in your history. A benefit of marking an item as sold could be if you sell a lot of items, you can build up a history, so people can see that you have been an active seller and can be trusted.
-
Pinkbike.com uses a left side navigation on the Buy & Sell feature. You have the ability to narrow your search right down to your town using our "Browse for your location" function. If you look at the left side of the main Buy & Sell page you should see listings for Canada, the United States, and any other countries that have ads posted in them. Clicking on each item will narrow it down to Province or State, and then down to Town or County. To return to the Country listing, simply click the << shown beside the Country name.
-
Pinkbike.com is in no way responsible for transactions that take place through the Pinkbike Buy and Sell. The Buy and Sell is a fee-free classified community bulletin board and is not associated with our online secure store server. Pinkbike provides no guarantee or insurance for payment delivery, product quality or product shipping. Persons posting ads are legally responsible for what they post and Pinkbike.com will openly assist law enforcement in the criminal investigation of matters that take place through this website. Never send cash through the mail; postal money orders, and certified cheques are safer, as they can usually be traced and can only be cashed by the person named on the face of the document. Just remember that the postal money order / certified cheque is as good as cash to the person it's written to and doesn't provide you with a method of stopping payment once it's cashed. If you become the victim of a fraudulent transaction, immediately contact your local police, file a report, and have them contact Pinkbike.com for investigation assistance.
Forum Usage
-
Starting a forum topic is as simple as it is fun. To start a forum topic, click the category you'd like it filed under (e.g., Freeride, DH, Non-Bike-Related). Then, click the link labeled 'New Topic', which will bring you to a page where you can start your forum topic. Simply fill in all fields (correctly); once you have done so, you can click 'Preview' to preview what your topic will look like, or 'Create Thread' to submit the thread, creating it under the chosen category.
-
Pinkbike.com uses a cool notification system. A white username at the top left corner of the page means that you currently do not have any new notifications. If this username is yellow, it means that you have a new notification. Notifications show you everything from when a user has submitted a comment on your picture or video, to if one of your friends has uploaded a picture, and also if one of your forum topics has a new post. To turn this function off for forum posts, simply scroll to the top of your forum topic, and click 'Unsubscribe'.
-
Pinkbike's forum implements a few different abilities. When submitting a comment, or creating a new forum post you should see a number of available buttons to click. There will be a B for Bold, an I for italics, a direct URL Link button, a PB Image button, a PB Video button, Youtube Video link button, Google Video link button, a Quote button, and a smilies button. Each one of these will do different things.
-
Yes, you are able to edit your own posts. If you visit the forum entry you want to edit there should be an edit button on the right side of it. Click on that, and it will allow you to edit your post.
-
Simply put, moderators are the police of Pinkbike.com. They monitor our forums, our photo sections, and basically make sure nothing bad happens to the website in general. To view who the moderators are you can visit the About Us page.
-
First of all, one of the criteria is to be able to set a good example for the community. Moderators are hired if the administrators feel that they need more people to help keep the forum clean and working properly, people who are responsible and can be trusted, who are dedicated and who are willing to spend time to make Pinkbike an awesome community. We hire moderators on a need-be basis. That means, when it comes time that we require them, we hire them. So please, don't apply.
-
Pinkbike.com implements a content filter to ensure that all ages can look at our site and be pleased with what is shown. We do filter the words through a checking system that will censor out any profanity or racial words.
-
Pinkbike.com requests that any inappropriate content you find to be reported to a moderator immediately. We try our best to filter out any inappropriate content that the forums, photo section, or video section may receive in order to make our website ideal for most users.
