Kona has just uploaded a great video of their World Cup team rider Joe Smith tearing Whistler a new one on his 2011 Operator. The video includes some crazy slow motion footage of the bike working over the terrain, as well as Smith getting completely sideways on the senders.

Kona Fantasy Slopestyle Results
The second annual Kona Fantasy Slopestyle Contest is wrapped up and with over 13,000 entries, was a huge success! With the top of the field this year coming as a bit of a surprise, nobody had the max score. But one user did have the highest score with no ties; congrats to kooper.pinkbike.com for picking up the Kona Bass custom build.

Kona has clearly gone for a more simplistic graphic design for 2010, moving away from the multi-colored bikes and started looking more and more at visual aesthetics.

After months of tracking the production progress - from start to finish - of the Kona Bicycle Company's One Millionth Bike, Shelly Girlatz of Balzac, Alberta, Canada is the winner and proud new owner of a 2009 Cinder Cone mountain bike. The celebratory contest tracked the day-to-day life of Kona's millionth bike from its production overseas to its random shipment to Calgary, Alberta. The bike was tracked using GPS inserted into the seat tube of the Cinder Cone, among other ways.

Three Dutch riders were asked to give a dirt demo during the 6/24 hour mtb race at the baggelhuizerplassen (That’s in Assen in province Drenthe, The Netherlands). It was the best thing!

The injury, which Bas sustained while riding and jumping in Australia, is the first major set-back of the young riders’ career and will sideline him for 6-8 weeks, according to physicians.

Kona Bikes and Kingdom Trails Association unite, again
In efforts to continue their outreach to the biking world and grassroots projects, Kona Bicycle Company and Kingdom Trail Association (KTA) in East Burke, Vermont, have, again, joined forces to unveil an exciting program on and off the dirt. Looking to assist in the maintenance and preservation of the non-motorized, multi-use trail system in the area, Kona will be working closely with KTA members and trail crew to increase environmental awareness and trail sustainability. As the official bike of Kingdom Trails’ Trail Crew/Bike Patrol, Kona will also outfit the crew.

Kona to donate 1,000 bikes to "AfricaBikes" foundation
From its inception in 2005, the Kona AfricaBike program has had a simple, primary focus: provide durable, easy-to-maintain AfricaBikes to healthcare workers to assist in the treatment of HIV/AIDS patients. To date, Kona has donated roughly 500 bikes and will double their output this year by generating 1,000 AfricaBikes for the project.

There was the Bellingham stop on the New World Disorder Video Premier world tour, a wet and slimy night ride and a visit to the local dirt jumps. Amidst it all Paul Bas inked the deal for another two years as one of the marquee riders for the Kona Clump Team.

The Kona/IMBA grant program provides financial assistance in creating technically challenging riding facilities that are completed in partnership with progressive local land managers.

From June 7th-10th, the Out of Bounds weekend will take place at the Bikepark Leogang for the fourth time since 2004, which can only mean one thing: tons of bike action!
