Split Stance Exercises for Faster Cornering Split Stance Exercises for Faster Cornering
One of the things I've realized is that being able to ride switch-foot is not an option, it is a must for good trail riding. Besides it being good for when you do find your feet switched for some reason on the trail it also helps to fight imbalances - you'd be amazed at how bad riding with the same foot forward all the time is for your hips and lower back. However, the most important thing in my book is how it helps you corner better.

Read on and become a better rider,

Cardio vs. Endurance Training Cardio vs. Endurance Training
Let me ask you a question - Do you want better cardio? Or do you want to be able to ride harder, faster and longer on the trail? Think these two goals are the same thing? Perhaps not…

The problem lies in the confusion caused by the terms "cardio training" and "endurance training" being used interchangeably. The truth is that they mean entirely different things. Understanding this difference is important in order to know what you really need to get to the next level.

5 Exercises to Help You Rip Corners Faster 5 Exercises to Help You Rip Corners Faster
Few things separate great riders from average ones like the ability to corner. Being able to glide into a turn, avoid overcooking it and sail out with maximum speed is a thing of beauty to watch. For a lot of riders it seems like voodoo black magic and it seems impossible for them to figure out how to go that fast in a corner without washing out or wrecking.

The good news is that cornering ability isn't magical and you can significantly improve your speed with a few pointers and some training.

What are some exercises you can start using today to improve your core strength and riding?

One of the biggest concerns I get from mountain bikers about adding strength training into their regimen is that they do not have time for it. Family, work, personal lives and (most importantly) riding all add up leaving some of us with less than 2 hours per week for any other type of training. Because most programs (including my Ultimate MTB Workout Program) require 2-3 hours per week to complete, these riders end up doing nothing.

Mountain biking is an extremely technical sport so even if you are the fittest person in the world, it doesn’t mean you’ll be winning world cups. But, it will play a huge role in helping you ride longer, faster, stronger and most importantly, recover quicker.
