My Homemade Kinematic Optimization Software

Feb 21, 2024 at 10:10
by Matt Morrison

Instead of spending twenty bucks on Linkage, I decided to spend hundreds of hours programming my own kinematic optimization software. What is really cool about this project is that instead of dragging points around in some CAD program, I can hit run and my code will iterate through tens of thousands of potential layouts and return the ones that get closest to my design targets. In the video above, I run through the details of the optimizer and show a trivial example. I plan to make more videos with cooler examples in the future when I find the time. Enjoy!
