Newmen Launches New Lightweight Trail & XC Wheels

When it comes to cross-country racing or sprinting uphill against your buddies, the best equipment is just good enough. It is precisely for these days that racers and trail bikers can now rely on our new NEWMEN Phase 30 VONOA. Thanks to the combination of the Phase 30 Light carbon rim and the VONOA carbon spokes, the XC wheels weigh in at a sensational 1160 grams (29“). The trail version with a more stable rear wheel is also only 90 grams heavier. This makes the Phase 30 VONOA one of the lightest carbon sets in the 30 mm class.

Easy to service, 40 percent less weight and 30 percent more rigid: With the newly developed VONOA carbon spokes, NEWMEN brings a real game changer to mountain bikes. The new MTB carbon wheels deliver weight savings without compromise. At just 1160 grams, they accelerate more explosively than any other MTB wheel, offer perfect support for wide MTB tires thanks to the 30 mm rim and are strong enough for the toughest XC courses. The Phase 30 VONOA Trail also catapults trail bikes over climbs without shying away from rough alpine trails.



Fewer & lighter spokes - just as easy to service

The stiff VONOA carbon spokes have a weight of just 2.8 grams each. The aero version of the VONOA spokes has been impressing in Newmen road bike sets for over two years and has proven itself with the WorldTour team Intermarché-Wanty. For the tough MTB requirements, we are using round VONOA spokes in the classic straight-pull design for the new Phase 30 VONOA. As the carbon spokes are significantly more tear-resistant and stiffer than conventional steel spokes, 24 spokes per wheel are sufficient cient for a perfect balance of stiffness and comfort. The hub body has also been further optimized and reduced in weight for the Phase 30 VONOA. Inside the FADE CS hub, however, is the same proven technology that has characterized our FADE MTB hubs for years: Low weight, convincing durability and quiet freewheel noise.


In the event of a service or damage, handling is exactly the same as with classic steel spokes. The VONOA carbon spokes can also be aligned or replaced individually in the case of a broken spoke. As with all NEWMEN carbon rims, we also offer a lifetime crash replacement (50%).
