In the second episode of 'Just Ride' Season Two, Rachel Atherton provides a raw and unfiltered portrayal of the challenges that temporarily sidelined her racing career, and discusses her unwavering determination to return to the sport, making her the ultimate comeback athlete.
Seems to be the ultimate snotty nosed adult brat.
He doesn't come off too well when he is featured in other people's blogs.
Often caught candidly being a bit of a diva and seems to be ripped for it by other riders
@Ironchefjon: I mean, staying in a tent, I'm the rain, for a week leading up what is marketed as 'too gnarly for a world cup' RACE, who the f*ck wants to do that?
They are world class athletes being treated like vagabonds who should be happy for the opportunity to wreck themselves and potentially f*ck their careers up.
Why should they be happy to stick it out in a campsite? How many if them rely in vlogs, Instagram posts to generate meaningful income? Is that easy to do from a tent, download, edit, upload content? In the few days if practice if they have a wipe out or hard fall, is staying ina tent the ideal recovery space?
I think the story she tells absolutely gives reason to rag on BK for being a bit of a diva, in that moment, but him staying it's not great they have to sleep in tents for a week is not.
He is one of the only outspoken guys that gives transparency on how absolutely brutal the UCI treat the riders and I will always have time for him to share that with us in his vlogs
That was so good and time just flew by. Love this,Rach is such an interesting and confident talker. Would love to see Gee and Dan too. Well done both Rob and Elliot for letting it all happen naturally without constant interruptions. Very good interview.
The last part she mentioned about "the meaning" behind a win...Man. That was sg else, I find it super fascinating that she got to this conclusion, I commend her for that. (as if she needed it..)
The comment at @41 minutes about "staying in your own lane and ride your own race" really hit home for me. I always thought its something I did as someone with less skills to try to keep progressing. To hear a great athlete say that was refreshing!
Rach is the best. Could have easily listened to 3 hours of this, feels like they only scratched the surface on so many things. Loved her answer at the end about equaling ACs record lol.
Easier said than done but it makes the whole thing much easier. Sleep train them at 4-5 months. Until then switch off on baby duty with your spouse every other night, baby-free person sleeps in a different room. For toddlers, no screen time while the sun is down, it f*cks their circadian rhythm and melatonin production. Dim the lights and only use warm lighting (no white lights) closer to bedtime.
Last sleep hack, my wife and I now sleep in separate rooms. I snore and she tosses and turns, and we were never getting proper amounts of deep sleep with that combination. After separating beds/rooms, our relationship has never been healthier.
