Police were reportedly called to Scott Sports Headquarters on Wednesday afternoon after a dispute between managers following ongoing issues after a new CEO was appointed last week.
The corporate drama at Scott Sports continues this week as
DayFR Euro reports that several vehicles belonging to Fribourg police were spotted parked outside the Scott Sports headquarters in Givisiez on Wednesday Afternoon. Fribourg police spokesperson Bertrand Ruffieux told DayFR Euro:
"Nothing serious happened. We intervened in a civil matter, a dispute between managers. In this type of case, the police are called to the scene to find a way to open a discussion, and for people to understand each other. But there are no injured or anyone arrested."This is happening against the backdrop of an ongoing rift between (previous?) CEO Beat Zaugg and the
new appointment by majority shareholder Youngone Corp. After a press release announcing Juwon Kim as the new CEO,
Beat Zaugg told Bicycle Retailer on Tuesday:
"This announcement was made to destabilize the company and its employees." In a response to Zaugg's statement, the Youngone Corp said:
"We understand that it may be difficult for Mr. Zaugg to accept his termination (given his long-standing role as CEO). But this is ultimately irrelevant as a matter of law: the ultimate decision body of a company is the board of directors and the board is clearly entitled to terminate the employment with the CEO."The report from DayFR Euro connects the police presence to the CEO replacement affair, but we have not been able to independently verify that.
We have contacted relevant parties at Scott Sports and Youngone for comment and will provide an update when we have more information.

US police: A tactical team was dispatched to the scene, fearing for their lives, officers neutralized all on site. All body cameras were not functioning, but we're totally telling the truth. Back the blue.
@shapethings : Sounds mellow. I'm getting the impression that some certain country has taken the stance that if there might be some indication that there might be something wrong somewhere, just bomb the building. Better be safe than sorry.
@matyk: Shooting dogs sounds bad. Police officers have dogs too, don't they? A dog behind that blown door seems like a clear indication that all is fine.
@dthomp325 : Of course. Bikes are important hence careless ownership is being fined. Same goes for not performing your regular lower leg maintenance, let alone not lubing your chain. People are getting belt drives for a reason over here.
FYI being a police officer isn't even considered a dangerous profession if you look at the fatalities per 100,000 employees (standard report). The guy that mows your lawn has a higher chance of an on-the-job death than a cop. Or the guy that takes out your trash. Or the immigrants that harvest your food.
However, I would assume that having one of the biggest guns per capita ratios in the world and not having to go through a metal detector in school is pretty civilized.
I laughed hard when working for a US company in Switzerland years ago and we had to go through a mandatory yearly course about an "active shooter".
No golden parachute?
But still somehow they burn 50% of our entire city budget.
In Clackamas County, OR (rural / suburban near Portland) you have cops clearing 200k!

Don’t they have to send a cleaning crew through Pike Place Market every early morning to clean out all the needles so the vendors can come in and sell their food? Who would want to be a cop in that shit hole of a woke junkie encampment anyway?
The defund campaign was absolutely idiotic. Yes, get some justice reform and change some laws but take away cops when we need them most? Good luck with that.
Hardly. Law enforcement is typically the #1 spend in a city budget. American cities are literally police departments that also fund roads, education, etc. Statistically spending more on law enforcement compared to social programs doesn't actually make a city safer. Social programming that lifts people out of poverty is proven time and time again to reduce crime unlike violent tactics from militarized police.
Defund the Police wasn't about abolishing police, it was about moving some of their exorbitant budget to programs that can improve public safety and streamling police operations to violent crime.
They're constantly taught that their life is in danger every time they step out of a vehicle and they act accordingly despite the fact that no statistics actually support this attitude. As such, you end up with cops taking justice into their own hands.
Then you look into the fact that many individuals that are deemed too unstable for enlisted military service are welcomed into police forces . . . it's a recipe for psychotic individuals with God complexes to terrorize the streets.
What does prevent crime, and that has been proven out for at least a century in most societies and tons of studies, is social security and income equality.
So, police lose funding, which provides them less resources for training, education, hiring, etc. That, combined with no one Kiku by police in those areas, resulted in a small police force; either because they could hire, or because police left because it sucked to be a cop there because no one liked you.
Then, those same areas (see Seattle, Portland, parts of CA) saw an increase in crime, but they don’t have the capacity to address those crimes, so it creates a situation where there’s less consequence to commit a crime. In Seattle, you can steal a vehicle, and as long as you drive away fast, they are not allowed to pursue you. The backlog on unsolved murders in those areas is so long, that you’ve realistically got a solid 5 years between the time that you commit the crime and when you get caught. They only recently made it illegal to smoke crack in public in Washington.
They’re left having to hire more police to handle the increase in crime, but no one wants to do it, so you have to keep increasing salaries until it’s high enough that someone is willing to apply. So now you’ve got fewer police who get paid way more money each, which is probably why someone here commented that Portland cops can make $200k. If you’re interested in being a cop, you’re likely more right-leaning, so why in the world would you want to move to and work in Portland? $200k is why.
If the police departments had the funding to not be stretched thin, and to provide the education and training that people want to obtain by “defunding police to fund this other thing”, and if there wasn’t this generalized “police suck” outlook, I think things would be much different here.
To a lot of people’s point here, I don’t personally understand why our police drive in unmarked cars. The other side of the world makes it obvious where the police are, because they’re there to help. Perhaps if the states simply had enough police officers to cover the basis and address the pressing issues (actual crimes), then maybe we’d be able to start adopting some of those European practices and the whole system would be right sided? Idk.
The funding side is especially interesting to me, as I always view things from the financial sustainability/“business” lens. Loads of straight politics in that world.
I bet you are one of the first if robbed or a car accident you call the cops, pathetic hypocrites.
This has been proven time and time again. You can spend more on policing but it does not change public behavior. American prisons are designed to punish, not rehabilitate. American criminal justice policy is designed to punish criminal activity rather than prevent the need for criminal activity.
At a high level, reducing income inequality and lifting folks out of poverty through social programs does more to reduce crime. Increasing funding for education supports this goal. Increasing funding for nonviolent response programs, mental health, addiction, and healthcare also alleviates economic stresses that can cause individuals to turn to crime. Spending 50% of a city's budget on police doesn't help any of this.

The Sick debacle is hilarious, ridiculous and terrible in equal measures.

More jostling of sweater vests.
When Zaugg took over the company in 2005 he must have taken out a ton of loans and what did he do? He let Scott Mongomery talk him into starting ScottUSA. Lets remember that Mongomery helped his Dad lose Cannondale to investors. Very ironic actually. Zaugg big mistake was listenning to Montgomery who talked him into spending a ton of money. Brand new 15,000sq/ft headquarters in Sun Valley, big rig for events and of course all the people needed to sell, distribute and support scott bikes in the US. Also Mongomery talked him into focusing on niche markets like Triathalon and womens bikes. In short, he over extended himself to buy the company and to expand it into the USA. If he had just kept the majority share and the bikes simple, he would still be the CEO.
Wonderful :-)
Karma's a bitch.
Soundtrack: bow chicka bow wow....
But, can we stop comparing the US with a population of 341,814,420 to countries like Switzerland with a population of 8,851,431?
We are a collection of states and commonwealths that each have their own unique characteristics.
Karma's a bitch, and it follows you around...
Yeah it's not highly visible or distinguishable when it's trying to get through traffic in an emergency situation and you glance at it in your rear view is it? Neither does it look threatening like you might get carried off in handcuffs, looks more like they might give you skittles.
I notice scrolling through the comments that I'm not the only one with this opinion
