 @YakuT: what an ass backwards statement. "the photos are not too dark, that is why you must set your brightness higher to compensate". It's definitely possible to see that its a tailgate pad but usually product photos are well lit so you can see the details fully. Sincerely - a desktop user

 To add some additional clarity - pads include 4 strap threaders with the Mid and Full size pads, 2 with the 2 Bike Half-Stack - this is a cost for the replacement in case you lose them! The Mid Size has 5 downtube straps, and Full Size includes 6 downtube straps. The 2 bike has, well, 2.

 @raceface I need one for my ram 2500 with ram boxes. Is either one compatible? The only dominations I’ve found suggest the mid size and full size is the same width and that doesn’t seem right.

 Sorry for the confusion, we do include 4 strap threaders with the Mid and Full size pads, 2 with the 2 Bike Half-Stack - this is a cost for the replacement in case you lose them!

 Step 1. Buy a Ridgeline.

Step 2. Open the MagicTailgate(tm) sideways like a car door.

Step 3. Slide your tailgate pad on in about 20 seconds.

Step 4. Throw strap tool in trash.

 @sfarnum: Takes me about 1 min 20 seconds to install mine on my Tacoma, but the rest of the time I spend owning a Tacoma.

 It's made by RaceFace, so it probably comes with sand paper fitted to the part that touches the paint work.

 Meanwhile in Europe we have vans.Roll em in, ride em out. Locked inside not hanging off the back like a guy who cant fit the 2.4m Kingspan sheet he just bought, in his car.

Seriously with space at the back of your vehicle why not just lie the bike down in there? Fits in a hatch no prob like that. I've had 2 mtbs in my mates Golf and looking at the size of some of these trucks youd get the whole Golf in the back of the truck never mind a mtb.

Is it some kind of caravan-club-esque signalling to the world?

 You could do that with 1, maybe 2 (if you don't care about your paint) lying in the bed. You can't lay 5 or 6 bikes in the back of a pickup bed while shuttling without doing some serious damage to the resale value of those bikes. Unless of course you remove the wheels and flat pack them, but ain't nobody got time fo dat

 Vans definitely have their advantages but trucks do too, I drive a tacoma and I've had a solid amount of days hauling 6 bikes and 6 people for shuttling, with them generally being a lot more capable offroad than a unibody van. Decent amount of tradeoffs for daily use, but having an open cargo area comes in handy when hauling something tall / long. Nothing wrong with having overhand as long as it's secured properly, and has a caution flag attached.

 I live in the US and roll my XL Ripmo right into the back of my Transit Connect (passenger version), despite the foot print being much smaller than any truck on the US market.

Of course Ford never made any effort to sell those to non-fleets and the wagon version had a pretty half-assed interior. Now they're discontinued completely. The US market loves their trucks.

 So no more dimpled tailgates from badly placed seams like on the T2 version? Needed a cut up yoga mat under it to properly protect the tailgate.

 I got that T2 as well and had the same issue, definitely not an ideal design. But good to see they seem to have fixed it with the new version.

 I thought I was the only one experiencing this. Didn't realize this was a thing. Top of my tailgate looks like a golf ball from using my @raceface T2.
Looks like the T3 does have better all around padding.

 @trm18: Can you guys explain further what you mean by this? I have a T2 but only used it a few times so far. I havent seen any damage but want to know what to look out for.

 @sino428: My buddy has one, there is basically no padding where the downtube sits, so if you have a metal tailgate it gets dented by the bike bouncing.

 @sino428: Just make sure it's installed correctly. Lots of people install pads incredibly wrong and then blame the manufacturer for damage to the bikes and vehicles.

Saying that... my bike got scratched to shit from tailgate pads so hopefully the new one addresses that. One off paint job on my frame and it's scratched. But hey... I guess I shoulda wrapped it.

 @sino428: Rubbing on the rough material and the straps.

The straps in my opinion are a flaw on all of those tailgate pads regardless of the manufacturer. The buckles are likely to smack against your frame. Things move around, rub. You got dirt on everything. Rubs the paint off. You run frame protection it's a non issue. For me... I think these straps should all be encased in something soft and washable.

But that was the old version. This new version looks really well thought out. They took the time to give you installation tools to make sure installation is easy and correct. THey've got protection for the smaller racks with things moving around. Everything. They spent some time developing this. I can't wait to try one. Thing looks dialed. Both versions.

 @onemanarmy: I can see how that could happen. I have a small downtube protector on the spot where my bikes sit on the pad to protect against that. Never thought the straps could be an issue. Might put some clear protection in that area now.

 Why sell the same exact pad as the Fox Mission, with just RACEFACE on it? Same pictures even on both websites for the features example pics.

 they are part of the same company, with raceface being the developing brand and the fox one existing for those that want a different logo on it. Raceface is definitely the core brand who has been making tailgate pads for longer, just they share resources for co-branding opportunities
