My name is Nico, I am 24 years old, and my favorite activity is riding my bike in the mountains. However, there's just one thing that makes it a bit more complicated. Since my childhood, I've had significant physical limitations due to an illness. These limitations affect many aspects of my life, including mountain biking. As I can only cover short distances on foot myself, I needed a balance bike as a child to move around more easily. Eventually, what started as a necessity turned into a hobby. Moreover, I felt increasingly drawn to the mountains, which soon exposed me to hiking trails and mountain biking trails. I developed my own techniques to overcome obstacles on the trails despite my impairment. Over the past few years, I intensified my training with the goal of being able to move independently in the mountains. Additionally, I simultaneously improved my biking skills. After countless hours of training and preparation tours in the snow, I was ready to start my dream project: climbing and riding a 4000-meter peak in the Alps with my bike!
Together with my team, we successfully executed the project last year! However, it required a considerable amount of perseverance and determination. Sub-zero temperatures, wind, and high altitudes made the endeavor even more challenging, but enduring the cold and spending a night in a tent on the glacier was necessary to encounter the toughest snow conditions. I had to push myself physically beyond my limits to climb the mountain and still have energy for the descent. Nevertheless, I will never forget the feeling of standing on a 4000-meter peak with my bike and riding across the glacier!
