The latest product release from Shimano isn't a wireless drivetrain or fancy new brakes. Instead, it's sunglasses, three different styles to be exact. That's might not be as exciting as fresh bike bits, but the new models do look like a solid entries into the eyewear world.
The Technium and Technium L models are available in a wide range of lens tins to cover everything from road riding to mountain biking in the darkest forests. The main difference between the two models is the frame design – the Techium uses a full frame around the lens, while the Technium L has a half frame design.

ride.shimano.com The lack of a lower frame on the Technium L does saves 1.4 grams, something to keep in mind in the unlikely event that you've exhausted every other possible place to save weight and are now obsessing over glasses grams.
Both Technium models come with a spare clear lens, a welcome addition for riders in perpetually cloudy riding zones. The Technium L glasses are also available with a photochromatic lens option, which lightens or darkens depending on the amount of UV light it's exposed to.
The prices are pretty reasonable, at least when compared to other high-end sunglasses on the market – the Technium models go for $100 USD, and the Twinspark, which doesn't have an interchangeable lens, is priced at $65 USD.

No…Wait…
I'm sorry... Im going now
No hate - I own a pair of oakley sunglass and ski goggles and they are perfectly great. But that is the business model - its a marketing engine!
I love how people crap on using cheaper glasses. The people downvoting my comment must have enough money to waste on subsidizing marketing manager salaries.
Shimano: We have something better!!!!
Me: Something better? What is it? I need to know NOW!!!
Shimano: sunglasses!!!!
A perfect example of this is the pedals. The original has a bearing cap that has a hex to tighten it, but it has a closed-back design to prevent dirt from getting in. The stolen IP copy has the same cap, but it's open because it would have cost more to seal the back and because they don't know/don't care. This allows dirt to get into bearing area that should be sealed.
You're in MTB, you can obviously afford to spend a bit more to support the original makers. It's not like we're talking Yeti vs other brands that cost 1/3 the price. It's like a $20-40 difference. If people keep spending money and don't support the IP holders, when they close their doors you're only left with crap copies and brands that are actually out of your budget.
I’m not saying this is ethical or the right way to spend one’s money, but innovation will continue for sure.
Yes, you purchased $300 dollar sunglasses that realistically should have been sold for $40. Get over it.
But photochromatic lens technologies have been around since the 60s. Companies like Luxottica (and subsidiary brands like Oakley), just repackage these technologies with new, fancy sounding names and other PR buzz, and act like they've done a ton of research and design. They haven't.
C'moon Shimano, you can do better than being a copycat.
Shimano has a respectable name and experience with selling sports clothing and accessories.
Have you ever started a glasses reseller?
Not objecting, just wondering
