In a chat that felt like it could go on for twice as long, Jesse really lifts the veil to talk about so much of what goes into being a pro enduro racer, the risk of moving away from a successful team as well as breaking down some of his highest moments and discussing where enduro sits when compared to other disciplines. Plus, Christina, Sarah, Matt and I tune in with the latest news.

Featuring a rotating cast of the editorial team and other guests, the Pinkbike podcast is a weekly update on all the latest stories from around the world of mountain biking, as well as some frank discussion about tech, racing, and everything in between.

 Canyon -> Roadbike -> Bottas -> F1

@JesseMelamed: I haven't listened yet but I really hope you can ride with Bottas in some capacity since you're both riding on Canyon!

Great interview. First PB podcast I've listened to and was pleasantly surprised. Henry is a fantastic interviewer.

Finally some musical picks I can relate to!

Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots was on regular rotation for me in college (University for the rest of the world) and poolside harvest moon is currently in the mix.

Great podcast. On the point @henryquinney made about watering the tracks in F1 - I've noticed the same thing in downhill. When you get a wet or weird track, the results sheet gets a fantastic shakeup and new talents emerge (Snowshoe this year is a perfect example, much flatter and more slippery than your standard European track). You see the same thing in Enduro to a lesser extent as well. To me, this means more new and weird venues (which a lot of people have said), but also changing the time of year to allow for different weather conditions, would make for more exciting racing.

I have to laugh when Henry said something about Redbull running away with things in F1. The sport seems to go through periods of dominance from one manufacturer, and we’re just in the latest era of that. Stick around and I’mm sure the tides will change. 2014-2020 was Mercedes dominance, 2010-2013 Redbull, 2000-2004 was Ferrari, 1984-1991 was Mclaren (although I think Williams had one in that period?). Anyways… BRING BACK SCREAMING V-10s!!

I remember those 2011 XC nationals, I was on some kid in a Team Whistler kit's wheel, he had baggies, a dropper post (in 2011!) and of course he opened up a couple of bike lengths immediately...until he got caught stuck behind another rider.

I miss the old style of the PB Podcasts where you would discuss fun topics and ideas. These interviews just don't do it for me.
  • 1 1
I like both the old style pods and the interviews. Just don't really like the intro/outro (with news/music etc) meshed into the interviews.
Personally would prefer to have them separated.

I liked the old style too, however after awhile they seemed to run out of bike related topics to shoot the shit about. I like how the podcast has evolved, and hearing everyone’s take/questions following the interview in the outro. I’m happy that Sarah is back. I love how happiness/positivity just seems to ooze out of her voice (Sarah I bet you are smile in your sleep as well).

WHAT???? I'm stuck on my S3 Stumpjumper Evo with a 150mm dropper. I looked at other posts and found that nothing will get me more drop given the bike's insertion limits. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get more drop out of my post. I'll crunch the numbers on this V3 1Up post.

Going to be That Guy™️ but Matt has the band and album names reversed. Enslaved is the band, Heimdal is the album. Killer pick though.

Props to Matt for the Enslaved pick. He's now an 11/10 for cool-guy factor.

I rode the trail his Dad built in Whistler last year and have a name suggestion: Marion Barry

Sharing new music is great. I'm stoked that this is a regular thing. Lately I've enjoyed Amyl And The Sniffers.

Yep. I'm stuck with my 150 dropper. Wolf tooth has a 155, but is 5mm more travel worth $350?

Jesse asking Henry to understand his desire for no drama in EDR is a hell of an ask.
