HAH dude with the handlebar tape needs to scale it back a notch. 3 clips on here, common man!
  • 8 0
I was wondering about that, thought it could be some new handlebar brand...I think you're right though lol!
  • 105 1
It's not tape, those are sticky notes...he adds one every crash reminding him what not to do...or he's writing a book on how to fall off your bike.
  • 37 0
he's not a common man, this is a rare breed of man. but c'mon man!
  • 5 1
 @novajustin: 1:52, 2:37, 3:58 I thought I'd be the first to notice and post

"So young and so naive"

@novajustin: Grammar police, don't forget to add capitals to your sentences.
  • 18 0
 @James89: get butt hurt more.
  • 11 0
The king of PB-FF... By the BELL decal on his toptube, they should sponsor him lol 1 helmet by session xD
  • 1 0
I was thinking the same thing -- had to go back and watch to see if I saw it right. He was definitely having a very bad day.
  • 3 0
 are they not uplift tags?
  • 1 1
@Jimmymike: He should give up before he hurts himself.
  • 4 0
 The last one was brutal.
  • 5 0
Hahahagahaha i was laughing so hard at the start of clip 3 like "not again??!" lol
  • 20 0
It’s the same bike but we don’t know if it’s the same rider. Might just be a cursed bike that sold to a new hapless rider a couple times.
  • 3 2
 @DrPete: Great comment!
  • 2 0
 That kids got dreams!
  • 8 0
@DrPete: @DrPete: They each, in turn, sold the Fox gloves, red shorts (well, 2nd to 3rd), shoes, etc. with the rainbow bike, then.
  • 2 2
 go Denver haha Beer
  • 4 0
@DrPete: Its a cursed bike like the game of Jumanji. Jumanji 3 - A wild bike in the forest waits for you to jump on and engage in a life or death game of BIKE... Featuring Jack Black, The Rock and Kevin Hart.
  • 2 0
Dude crashes so much he has to use tape to hold his bike together.
  • 4 1
@James89: LOL. The *capitals* are what you decide to police? I think that’s the least of our grammar concerns here.
  • 1 0
All the clips are at the same bike park too, props for commitment haha
  • 1 0
Full send with handlebar tape guy!
  • 2 0
@tripleultrasuperboostplusplus: Oh, I thought I saw different clothes. Fine, ruin it. Haha.
  • 1 0
 @rockyj: friggin crack up eh!!!
  • 1 0
@wasea04: the tape on his handlebars is entry passes for Woodhill forest in Auckland... I ride with him a fair bit and he just sends it pretty hard.
  • 117 0
yikes I hope I didn't watch someone get paralyzed.
  • 23 0
 yeah my thoughts exactly
  • 42 2
Even the apparent loss of consciousness is not fun to see.
  • 32 1
I think being a kid probably saved him. You can tell his bones are made of rubber by how bendy he is.
  • 89 10
Absolutely. Pinkbike - we don't want to see people get life-altering injuries, please make sure there is some context.
  • 31 4
Surely this should be light-hearted fun not watching life altering injuries I'm not into that shit.
  • 8 1
@skerby: No kidding! I was like, did he just break his neck!
  • 14 3
@onterribleftw: +1 to this. I never like the little kid fails, or twisting necks.
  • 8 2
I hope he's OK, too. That is a scary looking fall.
  • 17 0
 The kid is ok, check the entire video here;
www.pinkbike.com/video/509593
  • 25 1
@NinetySixBikes: I'm not sure that rolling over once counts as being "ok"
  • 6 0
Yeah, that was some disturbing spinal cord durability testing right there. Ugh.
  • 2 0
@NinetySixBikes: definitely looks like a loss of consciousness... even to the people who were there asking him if he got knocked out...
  • 25 2
Flexibility like that belongs on Redtube, not Pink bike.
  • 10 0
 protect ya neck
  • 8 0
@tbmaddux: Yeah, but he's got the power of youth. He'll be hitting that kicker in no time. If it was me, my kids would now be fighting over who get's my collection of 80's Santa Cruz skateboards...
  • 7 0
I’m a medic and that made me cringe.
  • 4 1
Came here for the light hearted, gentle crashes myself.
  • 4 0
Usually it's fun to watch FF with my kids. But this time it's not suited to minors ... Hurts to watch.
  • 3 0
Surprised that’s the still they chose for the FF video. Pretty scary esp since it’s a few posts away from a guy featured on an adaptive bike because of a crash.

 @number44: I love them
  • 1 1
But its reality...not pretty but shit happens easily.....everybody should remember that Wink
  • 76 2
The real failures here are all the people filming vertical videos Wink
  • 22 1
 That's Insta's fault
  • 16 1
Damn instagram has ruined photos and videos, portrait mode is good for portraits, thats it.. landscape mode for everything else
  • 3 0
I commented the same a while ago and some fucker was trying to tell me that he didn't have black bars on his phone when he watched it. They need to put a colored tag on the front page so you can filtre those idiots out. One thing I don't understand is how people can seemingly land fine but crash seconds later. I'm not even talking squirrelly landings.
  • 8 1
Don't blame instagram, just turn your phone on its side ya f*ckin noob wankers. That's exactly why your mates crash. tup
  • 2 1
@chickenlassi: Or we can just have a dedicated Friday Fails every few weeks that has purely vertical clips and everyone can watch it on their phone. Would be much better than intermixing landscape and portrait
  • 1 0
I'm getting tired of seeing that shit on GMBNs FB account too... Frown
  • 1 0
@chickenlassi: thats actuall a real problem, like when you land something and your for example super stocked about that, you just forget for a millisecond how to handle your bike properly and that theres more gnar comimg up to you so your not concentrated, and boom, there you have your crash after perfectly landing your jump before...
  • 5 0
@timbud: Could you imagine? How funny would that be when you're about to hit a gap jump and you look over at your buddy and he starts to slowly turn his phone vertical and you're like, "nooooooooooooo!"
  • 1 5
flag K1maxX (Jan 25, 2020 at 3:46) (Below Threshold)
to be fair, most people watch their phone videos on phone screens. so for me it really doesn't matter if vertical or not.
  • 1 0
@K1maxX: I'll have to show you how to turn your phone sideways sometime, so you can see widescreen. It's a new thing....

Thanks for the link, judging by the number of comments I see there's a few of us who wondered if he came out of it alive.
  • 1 0
@Blackers: yeah need the comment upvoted a little so everyone can see (shameless plug)
  • 3 0
@JamesGTi: Don't worry too much--it's Friday so I'm sure everyone is reading the entire comments section of every article

Full marks to guy that features three times in one fail video.
  • 6 0
Even more props if its on the same way down
  • 1 0
Failed so much because he'd left all those uplift/bikepark passes on his bars
  • 1 0
Reminds of of the slogan: At first you don't succeed, fail, fail again.
  • 15 0
My little boy loves watching these videos, his reactions to the hard diggers are priceless. He said he felt sorry this week for the guy with the coloured tape on his handlebars.
  • 19 1
 did that kid die??
  • 8 1
 Srsly. That was awful.
  • 6 0
I have a friend who always posts trite motivational memes on Facebook, like "fail often, fail forward". . . So this is what that means?
  • 7 0
"Fail often, fail forward" as the caption of someone going OTB would make a great demotivational poster
  • 2 0
 @pinhead907

"Fail often, fail forward..."

"...and try to roll out of the fail as you fail to the floor to reduce the impact of the fail"
  • 1 0
@DidNotSendIt: “And probably keep your hands on the bars until you’re sure you’re free of the bike.”
  • 7 1
They are supposed to be lighthearted fun, not watching a kid die. For fuck's sake PB get rid of the kid snapping his neck in half.
  • 7 0
Same dude, 3 wrecks. Gotta love the identifying bar tape.
  • 3 0
That BMX kid.. Fuuuuuuukin eh he got broke off something fierce! As been said already, I'd care to find out he's ok and cheer, because that was 100% brutality..

Bar tape bro was for-sure playing that "So you had a bad day.." song.. Props for him keepin on shreddin' after what appeared to be multiple get-off's!!
  • 5 0
'kid vs bush vs reverse-scorpion' definitely has me pumped for friday fails again
  • 2 0
 Full extension on that was A W E S O M E !
  • 2 0
I love these. The first 2 minutes were kinda like... "yeah, ok, people crash because they don't know what their "safe speed" is," Then 2:15 came, and I thought: if that were me, I would have been a quadriplegic. Thank f*ck kids are flexible.
And remeber kids: if it looks easy on youtube, it probably is.
  • 2 0
I've laughed, too often at FF, been aghast a few times. Today is the first time the word poignant came to mind. Could be today, or the week after week of hopeful lemmings thinking they may be the one to survive the plunge off the cliff...without pulling up.
  • 5 0
Good heck that guy in the screen shot is getting an exorcism
  • 2 0
@3:48, I'm gonna make an awesome MTB vid of this bad ass trail...records nothing but top tube. Some people need to learn how to position the camera properly. Hell of a wreck though, hope you're okay.
  • 3 0
Ahhh, nothing like my weekly dose of "dang, I better slow down and take it easy!" We never do though, do we?!
  • 3 0
The dude with the rainbow tape on his bars says pish to that, man.
  • 5 4
Why don't we ever see any women in the Friday Fails videos? Are they just smarter than guys, or just more modest about sharing their fails? Either way, they are under-represented.
  • 8 3
i think this ties in to why they are considered 'better' drivers. they aren't natural risk-takers, on the whole.
  • 29 2
I think women realize that no one wants to watch videos of them riding or their dumb helmet cam footage. Lets be honest, without the crashes in them all these videos would just be unwatchable garbage that no one would want to see. Women realize this, while men actually think they look cool enough to film themselves.
  • 9 1
@sino428: that almost sounded like you said women are never narcissistic.
  • 2 2
@tobiusmaximum: I'm only speaking about mountain biking.
  • 4 0
@sino428: ah, okay. well i think we can agree that its a good job men do use their cameras. because the result every friday is brilliant!
  • 1 0
If women start sending in videos I'm sure PB would be happy to post them. These are just user submissions after all..
  • 2 0
Few are brave enough. My wife would kill me if I posted a video of her bailing.
  • 1 0
@tobiusmaximum: I get the impression that women ride within their skill level and progress in a more calculated way. I know they fall, but not as spectacular as we tend to do.
  • 2 0
there have definitely been women in friday fails vids
  • 4 0
That case at 4:16 can be measured at the Richter scale...
  • 4 1
2:28: dude really knew where to put his camera to capture his crash. excellent photography work!
  • 5 0
 That's called hitting your mark.
  • 4 0
People who film vertically deserve to be capped in the knees
  • 3 0
Guy at 1.10, good job he fell off, no way he'd do the oncoming ladder drop.
Great fails this week but is the Bmx kid ok ?
  • 1 0
Maybe if he was one of those Chinese child acrobats he'd be OK
  • 4 0
 this week was brutal. wow.
  • 1 1
Smile much better than last week!
  • 1 0
the first one after the opening animation is Spider Mountain in Texas! I went there last week on a work trip, significantly better riding than I thought possible in the Lone Star state.
  • 4 1
I love Friday Fails, but I have no desire to see a kid in slow mo like 2:13.
  • 3 0
That second video is my buddy on spider Mountain haha
  • 3 0
 1:47 Rogatkin... is that you?!
  • 3 0
 1:40 - how’s your chest?
  • 3 0
Hope the kid in BMX is ok… This one was nasty
  • 2 0
3:28 I thought, no, he can't be charging so recklessly into that heap of leaves.
I was wrong.
  • 2 0
The correct method for doing drops is apparently to immediately let go of the handlebars 1:41
  • 3 0
Half those guys need to wear a cup. The other half should consider tennis.
  • 3 0
2:03 did that kid survive? Eek
  • 1 0
1:02- kid falls off his bike, Dads like - I'll just give him some gentle encouragement to get up by whacking him with this branch.
  • 2 0
I swear half those crashes occurred because they were filmed in portrait mode.
  • 2 0
As someone who can't jump a bike for shit, my advice to the dude with tape on his bars...keep the bike on the deck man
  • 3 0
 Putain!

  • 2 0
When will people learn how awful vertical videos are.
  • 4 2
Holy crap is the dude on the BMX bike dead????
  • 2 0
Too many folks trying to live out the videos they see on the internet.
  • 2 0
The biggest fail is filming in portrait......
  • 2 0
First clip: "how are ya?" was hilarious!
  • 2 0
Very first guy: "Check it out, I saw Brendog do this once!"
  • 2 0
Nice to know I’m not the only one making funny sounds when crashing.
  • 2 0
3:48 jeez bro slow down a bit
  • 1 0
that's the first time i saw road gaps obliterated on pb that i was like.. "I'd send that sh*t"... and there was 2 of them.
  • 2 0
BMX kid got folded like a lawn chair! I’m sure he’s fine though.
  • 1 0
That kid jumping the Bush clearly has to learn when to take the eject route... IT hurts from looking 2:14...
  • 1 0
3:14 looks pretty painful to try to stand on that ankle.
  • 1 0
That Brutus gap bail was savage, well done to walk away from that one
  • 1 1
2:02 - spines don't bend that much without injury. there's no way he walked it off.
  • 1 0
I'd like to see more oscillation crashes please. aka speed wobbles.
  • 1 0
First one is how we should all react.
  • 1 0
pinkbike fail for all the vertical videos.
  • 1 0
 Two minutes in... textbook 'fold-to-flat'.
  • 4 2
 2:13 reste in peace
  • 1 0
(perfectly slideable, badass) Handrail neglect is apparently a real thing.

I don't watch them either, fail to see the fun in people potentially getting seriously injured (I really don't believe that the people walk away without life altering injuries from some of the clips I have seen). It also puts me right off riding on Saturdays as it brings the risks to the forefront of my mind.

I had a nasty injury 2 seasons ago (3 broken ribs, shoulder dislocation) that kept me off the bike for 6+ months, so pshychologically it already takes a lot for me to get out of my comfort zone now - these clips don't help.

flag MartyFluxMcFly (Jan 24, 2020 at 8:50) (Below Threshold)
@Marc2211: I'm 100% with you on this. The mind takes longer to heal, and more often than not it never does. I used to white water kayak and got into some serious trouble a few times, one stuck. I healed after a few months, but my head didn't and I started f*cking up lines like I was a noob all over again. It's around that time I started looking for other sports, and DH biking was the winner. Watching people nail something makes me want to try it, watching people hurt themselves.... I don't get stoked on that.
