@vemegen: That was such a priceless reaction! I laughed more at the use of "ty mendo" then the actual crash. Without a doubt Polish is a much funnier language than English.
I like the ones where you get the helmet cam & the wide angel shot of the same crash. Thought their shit was going to be so tight they had to film it with multiple camera angles.
Jesse is a friend, yeah.
I know he's been a good friend of mine.
But lately something's changed that ain't hard to define
Jesse's got himself a jump and I want to make it mine.
Great r editing! 2:20 a rider that can't stay back, immediately followed by one that wont move forward. Slomo lookout too, superb. By commenting we all acknowledge our past mistakes, right?
dead sailor is when you compress improperly into a jump and your rear wheel gets kicked up as you take off from the jump. This makes you roll forward mid-air, usually in a stiff, head down position much like a dead sailor floating in the ocean.
@arrowheadrush: nah nah nah, dead sailor is when you are sailing through the air on a bad course cause of bad body language off the lip, poorly shaped jump, a wierd rock you get a piece of or whatever, the point is you do nothing to recover so you can land it or exit gracefully. instead a dead sailor just stays idle as they head for disaster.
Any drowned corpse will do. The emphasis is on stiff and head-down, as stated above. A longer explanation (medium.com/@Duffsam/mountain-biking-the-dead-sailor-a-physics-perspective-8ed023d7a85a) still doesn't do physics justice, but it's close enough. Suspension compounds the subtleties of normal force. For best results, close rebound and open pedaling platform as much as possible.
IME, it's a result of arms and legs being too stiff off the lip, so the bike doesn't come up under you. This results in not being able to move the bike in the air because your arms and legs are already extended. And that results in having no control of the bike, at that point you're just going for a ride (like a dead sailor) and maybe, if you're lucky, the bike will come down straight and on 2 wheels.
Poles be like: you f*cking scumbag! (laughs maniacally)
Edit - I just noticed PTown's XXX trail at 1:26 ! Coastside repping - U see it!
Nothing to be ashamed of! Those are full commitment jumps
