That much brake-squeak before a drop is generally the fail klaxon sounding.
  • 9 1
These are my favorite.. This is how I crash most often, when I am too afraid to let it rip and brake too much.. and boom...
  • 3 1
@saladdodger: That’s me too. It’s my biggest downfall at times. Sometimes you just have to have a little faith in yourself.

 speed is your friend
  • 5 1
@gtill9000: Last month, speed was not my friend.
  • 1 0
@gtill9000: I have a broken leg that begs to differ. :-)
  • 1 0
@gtill9000: but only until you start smoking
  • 1 0
@dj100procentenduro: oh yes, broke my collar bone that way...

That drop/build at 2:46. I respect the send.
  • 8 0
That thing was gnarly as fuck
  • 3 0
looked like a make to me
  • 1 0
@mbosko7: yup. Points for uniqueness too....don’t see many actual drops from a tree!
  • 7 0
Witches Finger was the original builders name for it. Took a few people out, including me.

so much balls and so little skills
  • 15 0
Begging a deeper discussion about the tightrope-walk relationship between ‘size of balls’ and ‘available skills’. The balance of the two is the driver of talent, but the imbalance you mention is the producer of Friday fails!
  • 9 0
@tobiusmaximum: very well framed. There is a rather large gap (by my standards) at one of my local trails that I know I could clear if I just had the balls to commit to the line. Then I come here and watch Friday Fails and realize that I'm 40 and I have no business just starting to hit gap jumps.

Interesting question, how many injuries does posting these fails on Friday vs. Monday save? Without these cautionary tales I'd be charging into every weekend hopped up on gusto. Thank you Friday Fails.

Can’t agree. Some are indeed big ballers, but big portion of folks here are a kind that show up for an adventure but then want to call mommy as soon as ship leaves the harbor.
  • 2 0
 @tobiusmaximum: That was deep, man.
  • 4 0
@jaytdubs: Lmao, you make a good point about learning when you're 40+.
I'm incredibly happy I learned how to ride hard in my early 20's. I'm introducing a 45 y/o buddy to DH, and we're really easing him in slowly. The body doesn't heal like it used to.

 @WAKIdesigns
How do you know your statement is true ?

Global survey ? Boots on the ground anecdotes or just pure generalisation and speculation ?
  • 1 0
@jaytdubs: work your way up gradually, if that's the kind of riding you want to do. Progression is really fun, and if you follow a friend in who knows the right speed it could very well be in your skill set.

That massive tree drop is pure win just for building and sending that stuff, I don't care if he crashed after.
  • 21 0
"Aww every time" - no quit in him apparently
  • 3 0
Gotta get up to get down
  • 15 1
We've seen these before, haven't we?
  • 9 0
I thought it was my post concussion symptoms but I think you are on to something here
  • 1 0
I don’t know. Maybe they’re recycling them due to the pandemic.

But... I think I’d remember that one at 0:53. That dude deserves to fall after that ridiculous move he pulled getting over the first roller.
  • 16 2
Are we fresh out of clips.. or am i getting de ja vu?

Sir, puleeeeeeeze, we have all read the warnings on this site and dogmatically followed them for a few months now.....

I felt that chainstay in my soul
  • 4 0
Probably told the warranty rep he was JRA
  • 4 0
@JXN1: having warrantied many of these, can confirm.
  • 8 0
Let my Kona do the job
  • 4 0
@ssteve: This is why we can't warranty nice things, ssteve.

 Huck to failure
  • 2 0
For a catastrophic frame failure, he made out alright
  • 12 0
More notchy endos on the way with the covid mtb explosion of new riders
  • 4 0
Walmart is completely sold out of bikes for months now. Shame we won't get to see all those beauties.
  • 13 2
I'm going to take some time out from watching police brutality videos on Reddit and watch Friday Fails for eyebleach.
  • 7 0
I love the fails...but what I don't get is how virtually no one loses their cool and starts swearing. I fail half as hard as any of these and I'm cursing at the top of my lungs. Cursing myself, my bike, the obstacle, the surrounding trees any small forest creatures that might be watching, etc. etc. there are saints among us.
  • 2 0
Like Ralphy in the movie A Christmas Story, kicking that kid ass and cussing up a storm, hilarious !!!
  • 2 0
I think you might be the odd one out here, not the other way around Smile
  • 10 0
Never fails: 84 degree head angle + 80mm travel / hardtail + gym shorts and t-shirt = OTB header to the dirt
  • 2 0
 dont' forget 110mm stem
  • 2 0
 @hamncheez: 110?
More like 140
  • 8 0
0:35 - “Paint me like one of your French girls.”
  • 2 0
I've definitely fallen like that probably every year I've ridden a bike ha

 You posted #116, not 121

 This is Friday fails....
  • 4 0
With all the crap going on in the world, this brought me some comfort today. A good reminder that we're all a bunch of failures trying our pathetic best!
  • 3 0
I love those gimbal chest mount clips. The world goes to shit, limbs and bikes tumbling every which way but the gimbal sits there with the camera dead steady and level saying "I got this!"
  • 2 0
...and you always get a great shot of someone double chin. I know, I have a few shots of my own. The gimbal really adds a HOLY SHIT WHAT IS HAPPENING vibe to a crash vid.

Came here expecting another Ibis to do their work.

Whenever i watch friday fails and somebody stacks it almost immediately after the start moving/rolling, i always think of Alan Partridge doing his sports commentary:

[Olympic diving] "Greg Louganis... Down, Double back twister, bangs his head and in. Textbook. Lovely."
  • 3 0
The guy at 3:24. We see this all the time. Dude lands after a jump and immediately goes over the bars? Are they holding their brakes mid air? What gives?
  • 2 0
Coming down with most of your weight on just one foot causes the dreaded front wheel jackknife ender. Check out the end of last week's fails to see the world champ one foot lander in action and watch his front wheel just go totally perpendicular in a split second.
  • 1 0
@JXN1: Interesting. That makes sense. I’d be the worst MTB coach. I can’t explain how to do anything on a bike. You just ride and figure it out.
  • 3 0
Every Friday I start my weekend with a beer and the latest edition of this, first order of business when I get home.
  • 2 0
The slo-mo at 1:32 is such a nail biter. At first I had hope that he would make it but then I remembered what I was watching.
  • 4 0
 Now THAT is rearward travel!
  • 3 0
This week's fail is why I hate doubles. Even when I know I'm going to clear them... I clench every time.
  • 2 0
A lot of those made me cringe. 2 takeaways from this week are... Trees dont move and helmets definitely save lives!
  • 4 0
Sometimes trees will actually jump out at you out of nowhere!
  • 3 0
@59 seconds - the awkward backwards waddle. We've all been there.
  • 3 0
This video must be sponsored by front wheel cases!
  • 1 0
 That was slick.

@1:16 ... when you think it's your friend filming behind the camera but it's actually a goat ! Meh heh heh heh!
  • 2 0
3:11, best cinematography ever on FF!
  • 1 0
“Every time!” Actually has to stop the video due to laughter at that line.
  • 1 0

  • 1 0
