That last bike...I don't think I have seen a bike with more cables in my life.
  • 37 0
And a narrower handle bar Smile
  • 27 0
 ...and a longer stem.
  • 30 0
I saw the long stem and a jump in the distance...nuff said!
  • 9 0
That's obviously why he fell. All those cables obscuring the view of the trail
  • 1 0
I count 6. FD, RD, Dropper, front lockout, rear lockout, front brake rear brake. which one DOENS'T he have then?
  • 2 0
Good old Scott TwinLoc set up. Should be 7 cables on these
  • 1 0
Whats that 3rd one on the right for???
  • 3 0
@Ferdi-Rax: Should be the right handed dropper
  • 3 0
@Lanebobane: I'm thinking there's no dropper on there.
  • 2 0
 @Lanebobane: The anti-fail control?
  • 1 0
@Lanebobane: I’m gonna go with no dropper.
  • 2 2
@Lanebobane: you can’t count then as that makes 7! ????????‍♂️
  • 1 0
 hahahah
  • 1 0
 @HF3: you can't read properly!

1:36 - Grabs rear brake to order loam sandwich.
1:43 - Receives said loam sandwich.

Five stars on yelp for amazing customer service.
  • 1 1
That right there is why you don't put all your weight over your rear tire on a drop.
  • 4 0
"I don't get it, I spent a TON of this bike- how am I still crashing?!" lolol man that was an ugly one.
  • 3 0
My read on it is he had bad timing, no preload, no speed, and the bike dropped out from under him. The root pushing up the rear wheel was a extra bonus. And the goggles were a nice touch.
  • 2 0
He had a mask on so he was safe.
  • 4 0
I think he doesnt grab a brake, he uses his butt to stop the rear wheel - its simple and classic.
  • 1 0
@paulskibum: yup wouldn't be Friday fails without at least one 29er bum touch
  • 37 0
Guy playing music from a speaker out loud while on the trail at 0:21 kinda deserved it.
  • 3 0
Worse than that I swear it was porn star dancing.
  • 2 0
I didn't even notice the music the first time just the shitty video quality. I had to click the settings button to make sure I was in 1080.
  • 2 0
@shotouthoods: Dude you nailed it, it is Porn Star Dancing! That's hilarious.
  • 31 0
Man... That dude at 1.30 went deeeeeep lol
  • 7 0
Respect for holding on til the bitter end. Could have been worse for sure.
  • 2 0
big effort that one, he's prob faster than most of us ha!
  • 27 1
I don't really get the mentality of 'Full face helmet, no other crash protection'. If I'm going to be doing something dumb/brave/reckless/awesome (delete as you see fit) and think I need my full face, I'm sure as hell going to throw on at least some knee protection and not wear my shortest shorts.
  • 7 3
to be honest I see it as much the other way around. I've worked at a lift-accessed bike park for 2 years and the amount of people who think they're above wearing full face helmets astounds me. Rock up with expensive bikes and all the gear but only a half-shell.... I've got no sympathy for them whatsoever when they take a hit to the face
  • 5 0
It's about what you are comfortable wearing/comfort of equipment/skill level/trails you are riding/etc. Why stop at knee protection and not also throw on arm/elbow/shin/wrist/neck/chest and back protection?

If I'm riding gnarly rocky stuff I'll wear knee protection. If I'm practicing tricks and worried about shinning myself with a pedal, I'll use shin protection. If it's only dirt and my biggest concern is clipping a tree, I'll stick to the full face.

My partner is a physiotherapist, often works with people with head injuries as well as other types of injuries (from being run over by a bus to the results of hand to hand with a grizzly using a folding knife this year). She says the most important injury to avoid as far as future quality of life - brain injury.
  • 1 0
 this comment is gold.
  • 4 0
Full face helmets protect the head and face. Two of the most fragile and important parts of DH the body. Serious injury there could be life changing or deadly. In most cases body padding prevents mainly bumps and bruises. It will save some pain but that’s generally about it.
  • 5 0
@acrowe: my wife works at a physio clinic as well. she sees tonnes of brain injuries, mostly you'd never know by looking or speaking to them. but they are hella f*cked. most can't hold down a job. ends your life.
  • 35 0
@acrowe: As if fighting a grizzly wasn't scary enough, but it's got a knife? Unreal.

A couple of those sends where scary big
  • 3 0
Interesting juxposition this week of massive sends with ridiculous noob fails. Not my favorite style but props to the editors for trying something different!
  • 8 0
I'm starting to appreciate the crashes for their categories, or merits. Instead of immediately focusing on the rider, I find that those crashes that create an enormous dust cloud, from which the bike emerges, seemingly following its own trajectory and spins, are actually kind of artistic in their own spontaneous way. Like performance art.

As usual, the majority of these folks have absolutely no business attempting what they are doing. Ya gotta learn the basics before trying risky stuff. Or don't, at least is makes for some funny, if embarrassing entertainment.
  • 4 0
I think this week actually has less of that. There are quite a few legit sends where the riders are decent but typically going really deep! Of course there's still lots of what you describe in there as well - it IS Friday fails after all...
  • 1 0
Right?! All these people still recording in portrait mode... sheesh.
  • 10 0
Dad sending it for the kids!!!
  • 10 0
@3:30. “You good?” Hold on, let me finish wrecking first.
  • 8 0
It amazing how you can make a 4 minute video last almost an hour by pausing at key moments!!!
  • 5 0
This edition gave me a serious case of OTB anxiety. I know I'm not going to accidentally overcommit on a huge step down (can't do that if you don't do big features) but some of these folks seemed to just hit the ejector button out of nowhere..
  • 7 0
as a bonus, here goes one of Peter Verdone eating it.

“Mechanic owned, never crashed” is all I can think when these videos come out
  • 9 0
I only buy "Dentist owned, never crashed" bikes. I've known too many bike mechanics.
  • 7 0
Guy at 0:51 is wearing a full face and hot pants?
  • 2 0
He does nail a smooth dismount, though.
  • 7 0
Why control the bike with your feet when you can use your taint?
  • 6 0
Now ever since I can remember I been poppin' my collar..... bone.
  • 6 0
Ratio of "are you ok?" per fail was at an all-time low this week.
  • 5 0
I'm actually quite impressed that most of these people were able to get right back up given some of the sends this week.
  • 3 0
Not sure what's worse. Vertical filming or clips with the sound removed??

Nontheless, that were some heavy hitters in this ep, respect
  • 2 0
that drop to flat at the end was epic. he actually hit it perfectly but fuck, you need at least 200mm travel for that kinda impact WTF. i'm surprised he didn't break his legs.
  • 3 0
72h immunity from crashes started (as the urban legend says) I just watched Friday Fails! Big Grin Bring it on weekend!
  • 3 0
But now you have committed it to text, you're due a smasher. Camera

Is it me, or does the first dude at 2:59 get the most airtime ever and sort of float over the gap?
  • 1 0
I like it when my buddies use slow-mo so I can feel like a superhero. Actually the superhero is the dude behind me that crashed. Guy sends everything first time. Sometimes we pay. Big Grin
  • 1 0
 slow-mo mate
  • 1 0
2;16, that guy wrecked the little gap takeoff on my trail. Obviously riding the trail blind, so I am going with, serves you right.
  • 2 0
That first drop before the intro was huge considering it was to flat! Nice work dudes dad almost got it
  • 1 0
Hey is there a way of knowing which users or videos the crashes came from? I can see my local trails, and I'd like to contact people to ride with around here. Thanks

My reason to wake up early is here!

Return of big backpack guy! The larger the pack, the more likely the crash!
  • 1 0
@1:30 ... this is Air Traffic Control ... the runway is clear for landing ... check all systems and get ready for touchdown.
