Literally took the words out of my mouth. When he figures out how to get to the drop, we'll definitely get to see him on next week's episode of Friday Fails
I had exactly a carbon copy of that a couple of weeks ago, only i must have been a couple of degrees less rotated and somehow, i dont know how, managed ride it out. Not without an arse full of tire though
My favourite is the dad filming his son and watching him bin, that "expletive" is not one of concern about his son but dad thinking "his mum is going to kill me he'd better be ok!"
The first one, what makes him pitch forward like that? I mean similar has happened to me before but usually my butthole is getting trimmed by the tire trying to save it. He doesn't seem to have changed position at all even when his forehead is about to impact?
As someone who has had that exact crash (not on video, luckily) I think it's a combination of three things: 1) psyched that the day is going so well and I'm clearing tables I don't always clear, so go faster and bigger! 2) Overly compressing the shock as I approached the jump in a wrongheaded attempt to get more "pop" off the lip 3) Feeling totally powerless as it all starts to go wrong in the air, and blindly hoping I can land nose heavy yet somehow ride it out
A good two or three weeks of thinking while recovering helps.
when doing a larger jump with more speed than your used to it can be really scary to lift your front wheel and pop off the lip like you would normally do. as weight is applied to the front wheel as its going up the lip, and as it leaves the lip before the back wheel, you start rotating in the air. this could be because you are to scared or because you weren't prepaid to counter-act g-forces that push you forward when travelling up the take off. Add this to being too scared to just throw your bike away mid flight and you have a pretty dam good entry to next weeks Friday fails.
I’m no expert at large jumps I would say it’s likely caused by suspension being too soft or low speed compression being too soft. There is a reason the pros run stiff suspension for big hits, not just the landings but keeping the bike balanced on the lip.
Oh come on, he said: Dio can(e)... (as stated before pronounciation was heavily dialected, so the "e" in second word is pretty much omitted, but you'd need it if you want to get the translation)...
Same... I was looking for the footjam attempt or a crankflip or something and it looks like it was just an unexplainable low speed superman to breathless chest slam
Footjam tailwhip with no front brake= u need to carve to stop the wheel ( unless u are a pro at the trick, then you might be able to pull it with no carve)
lots of faceplant skidding on the side of the trail fails this week. I had mine earlier this year, good thing my face hit a stump to stop me from falling further down the trail.
3:35, cheering her on when it’s clear from the outset she’s in trouble! “Go for it and hope for the best” is not the best way to increase skill without injury.
@mariomtblt: Haha, thanks! I ran because I thought someone else had dropped in behind me and I wanted to get my bike out of the way. But thankfully no one had actually dropped in.
Been there a few times lol
dad: Thank $deity, I live to see another day.

What the hell are you doing leaving your bike parked leaning up on the jump so it sticks up over the lip???
