3.43 That was probably for the best..
  • 51 0
Literally took the words out of my mouth. When he figures out how to get to the drop, we'll definitely get to see him on next week's episode of Friday Fails
  • 22 0
Yeah, if you can't negotiate the run in then drop probably isn't for you
  • 24 0
His body knew better than his brain and bailed
  • 6 0
Yes , he looked pretty shaky at the run in , I felt relieved when he crashed before the drop.
  • 4 0
Definitely took a big sigh of relief when he ate it before getting up onto the drop. A pretty good laugh too Big Grin

 THERE'S SO MUCH SPEED!
  • 31 3
...as they’re going like 10mph hahaha
  • 9 5
 More like 3 Ahahah @newbermuda:
  • 12 0
This was my favorite part, like it was the first trail with big berms he had ever ridden and he couldn't believe it.
  • 12 0
@newbermuda: if that's Big Bear, they might not be talking about MPH.
  • 8 0
 The double rainbow of MTB....
  • 3 0
 ...and so little turning
  • 62 0
 *wheel rolling in the distance...
  • 19 1
WTF? When you see your bud's wheel coming off and you just whisper "stop stop stop" then "I saw that"? Maybe yell it instead?
  • 5 0
@number44: Looked to me like a father/son too.
  • 5 0
That was the funniest thing I have seen on FF videos.
  • 12 0
At least the wheel rolled like it was still in true.......
  • 2 0
@RayDolor: Might be the only time in FF history.
  • 5 0
@number44: he clearly had the tone of a father who did not tighten his son's wheel correctly
  • 4 0
@ridintrials: You nailed it. And put the fear of god in me about next time I go with the kids. Heading to the garage now to check the bikes....
  • 34 0
0:50 - awww, his first huck to flat, welcome to the sport!
  • 12 0
surprising amount of air for the entry speed
  • 10 0
 That good old "nutcracker"
  • 24 0
That wasn't a fail, that was a win!
  • 10 0
I wouldn't even call that a fail at all.
  • 11 0
 @humanpowered: his scrotum may disagree
  • 1 0
 Was that Chunk, from Goonies?
  • 2 0
Didn't hit his face on the stem/handlebars! good job!
  • 2 0
Pinkbike give that kid a job- huck to flat tester!
  • 24 0
Man, that intro. You see the poor guy’s arm stays stiff even after he rolls. You know he was out. Hope he’s well
  • 9 0
What a send too. Hope he is well.
  • 2 0
I had exactly a carbon copy of that a couple of weeks ago, only i must have been a couple of degrees less rotated and somehow, i dont know how, managed ride it out. Not without an arse full of tire though
  • 16 0
@danielstutt: wishing your butthole the best.
  • 2 0
Yeah, I thought from the way his arms were he was out. I've ended up perm damage from one of those that was way less than that one. Hope he's alright.
  • 2 0
 @fraserw: appreciated man.
  • 1 0
 Absolute sickener
  • 2 0
 Looks kinda like Northstar (?)
  • 21 0
You picked a fine time to leave me, loose wheel...
  • 3 0
with four broken fingers, and a crack in my ribs
  • 18 0
1:06 Crash, roll, run - that was a total win! Stylish transition from trail ride to trail run!
  • 18 0
 0:00. Ded
  • 1 0
F*** me that was a hit.
  • 2 0
I think he was knocked out seriously- didn’t look so pleasant
  • 14 0
My favourite is the dad filming his son and watching him bin, that "expletive" is not one of concern about his son but dad thinking "his mum is going to kill me he'd better be ok!"

Been there a few times lol Smile
  • 2 0
Yeah exactly! He's narrating his explanation to his wife..."I told him but I guess he didn't hear me..."
  • 1 0
 son: I'm ok
dad: Thank $deity, I live to see another day.
  • 6 0
The first one, what makes him pitch forward like that? I mean similar has happened to me before but usually my butthole is getting trimmed by the tire trying to save it. He doesn't seem to have changed position at all even when his forehead is about to impact?
  • 4 0
Looks to me like he saw his impending fate and just froze up. Also might not have had the experience with big sends... and how to save them.
  • 3 0
As someone who has had that exact crash (not on video, luckily) I think it's a combination of three things:
1) psyched that the day is going so well and I'm clearing tables I don't always clear, so go faster and bigger!
2) Overly compressing the shock as I approached the jump in a wrongheaded attempt to get more "pop" off the lip
3) Feeling totally powerless as it all starts to go wrong in the air, and blindly hoping I can land nose heavy yet somehow ride it out

A good two or three weeks of thinking while recovering helps.
  • 2 0
I’ve seen this before- it’s just harder to time the pulling up off the lip....if you’re going super duper fast.
  • 3 0
when doing a larger jump with more speed than your used to it can be really scary to lift your front wheel and pop off the lip like you would normally do. as weight is applied to the front wheel as its going up the lip, and as it leaves the lip before the back wheel, you start rotating in the air. this could be because you are to scared or because you weren't prepaid to counter-act g-forces that push you forward when travelling up the take off. Add this to being too scared to just throw your bike away mid flight and you have a pretty dam good entry to next weeks Friday fails.

@Curse-of-the-foot-long-sub: good synopsis man, best riders I know can bail hard by choice when they see the pain train coming
  • 1 1
I’m no expert at large jumps I would say it’s likely caused by suspension being too soft or low speed compression being too soft. There is a reason the pros run stiff suspension for big hits, not just the landings but keeping the bike balanced on the lip.

Did the guy at 0:30 say "beer can"?
  • 4 0
No, he uttered a northern Italian profanity that I'm not going to write here. Let's say it's a heavy expletive against God...
  • 3 0
@Tasso75: He is probably from Veneto
  • 4 0
@Tasso75: Lets just go with Beer Can
  • 2 0
Oh come on, he said: Dio can(e)... (as stated before pronounciation was heavily dialected, so the "e" in second word is pretty much omitted, but you'd need it if you want to get the translation)...
  • 1 0
 @ChrisNJ: Beer Can! LOL
  • 1 0
@Tasso75: no swearing in the world stronger than the spanish 'me cago en Dios'
  • 5 0
And if you look waaaaay down the trail and squint, some say you still see that wheel rolling along, searching for the never-ending ride.
  • 5 0
That first one - it all goes pretty fast but at some point when your body is forward like that you gotta EJECT !!!
  • 4 0
1:04 We've all been there ... that frustrating ride when you just want to toss your bike into the woods and jog back to the trailhead.
  • 5 0
1:41 - I watched that like 10 times and still can't figure out what he was trying to do nor wtf happened.
  • 3 0
 Downside tailwhip footjam I'd posit
  • 6 0
 Superman to fail combo
  • 4 0
@Jden11: Oh it was downside alright.
  • 10 0
 Pinkbike Academy Photo Challenge.
  • 3 0
Same... I was looking for the footjam attempt or a crankflip or something and it looks like it was just an unexplainable low speed superman to breathless chest slam
  • 3 0
 @dllawson819:
Pinkbike Academy should have been this episode of Friday Fails.
  • 1 0
Footjam tailwhip with no front brake= u need to carve to stop the wheel ( unless u are a pro at the trick, then you might be able to pull it with no carve)
  • 2 0
 @thechad13: you're on to something
  • 5 0
1:48 - My new text notification sound...
  • 5 0
 Very confused dog at 3:11
  • 4 0
1:49, cameraman enjoyed that too much.
  • 4 0
what the hell was that noise, haha
  • 5 0
 So. Many. Nosedives.
  • 5 0
I like how the nosediver uniform is rental pads, helmet and bike; but it’s bring your own gopro and SD card to document the carnage.
  • 2 0
It occurs to me, some stuff is being broken, but Friday Fails is really something of a testament to the durability of mountain bikes!
  • 2 0
 The one at 2:45?
What the hell are you doing leaving your bike parked leaning up on the jump so it sticks up over the lip???
  • 1 0
lots of faceplant skidding on the side of the trail fails this week. I had mine earlier this year, good thing my face hit a stump to stop me from falling further down the trail.
  • 2 0
At 0:25 I thought for sure the tree would do him in. I guess he had eyes for that ladder instead.
  • 2 0
"My fork's about to blow!". Next day at the bike Shop. "I was just riding along!". Ha ha....
  • 3 1
I just can't understand why so many people think that the slower you go the easier a drop is going to be...
  • 5 0
My 6 and 8 year old have been trained on proper drop speed from Friday Fails.
  • 2 0
I’m not sure what I cherish more: a Friday Fails video or the comment section.
  • 3 0
Hey, a front wheel just rolled past my house.
  • 2 0
2:50 - Did my eyes deceive me or does that guy have a horribly broken left arm?
  • 1 0
 Definitely broken, spotted that too.
  • 1 0
3:35, cheering her on when it’s clear from the outset she’s in trouble! “Go for it and hope for the best” is not the best way to increase skill without injury.
  • 1 0
1:51 - my day gets a little better every time I see someone hurting themselves trying to roost a corner for the 'gram. Thanks, Pinkbike.
  • 1 0
This should be the 3:16 that Christians refer to - Jesus Christ! OTB while watching that wheel roll away
  • 2 0
An episode full of hard hits mixed with amateur hour crashes.
  • 1 0
3:00 The dangers of forgetting you turned on moon gravity mode last time you were on the bike
  • 2 0
Damn, My vid didnt make it in. Maybe next week.
  • 1 0
post it anyway, sneak peek lol
  • 1 0
@rallyimprezive: that summersault to run off! nice one man haha, that's a lesson in falling right there
  • 1 0
 @mariomtblt: Haha, thanks!
I ran because I thought someone else had dropped in behind me and I wanted to get my bike out of the way. But thankfully no one had actually dropped in. Smile
  • 2 0
 That first one... "ye..he dead".
  • 1 0
 We need Tom Araya here:
"All the venomous sights border on the arcane,
In times of bikes everything is bound by fail".
  • 2 0
At 2.05, is that Innerleithen anyone know?
  • 1 0
Hardtail boy, never made puberty. If your buddy crashes aim at him, not his fucking bike !!
