That step up fail at 1:35 was bruuuutal gah
  • 9 0
 That was just silly!
  • 10 0
Especially since you knew it was coming from a mile away
  • 25 0
 Major Wiley E Coyote moment.
  • 69 2
My initial thought was that the dude was riding that feature in the wrong direction. Doesn't that look like a step down / drop feature? Honestly, that's the only way to make sense of what I was seeing...
  • 5 3
I think this not a step up but a drop he's trying to ride from the wrong direction....
Edit : same thought than aharvey
  • 3 0
 That was not even close!
  • 3 0
 @aharvey: exactly what I thought
  • 14 0
@jfcarrier: It's morons like this who get that stuff torn down.
  • 4 0
Seriously thought he was going to go full Jango Fett there... Helmeted head rolling back down the ramp.
  • 16 0
 He was sooooo close!
  • 3 3
That’s what happens when you ride a drop in reverse
  • 8 0
@kegron: I don't see many landings half as narrow as the takeoff, I think that like 99% of Friday Fails there was just a lack of commitment.
  • 10 0
That's what you call a face case. No lawyer needed. Straight to the dentist.
  • 10 0
@aharvey: No way this is a step down. Who the hell builds the landing narrower than the take-off? Guy was just going way too slow, tried to abort mission up the ramp, couldn't stop and just flew off the end.
  • 3 2
Does anybody know this feature? Was he attempting it backwards?
  • 51 2
@UPBike: I built it, it's a step up and it flows if you go fast
  • 5 1
@jdkellogg: yeah, good point about the landing being narrower that the take off. That would be insane. This makes the attempt more frighteningly pathetic. That being said, I wouldn't even attempt a step up where the consequences are that severe.

EDIT: I went back and watched it again and it seemed like that dude WAS coming in pretty hot. No brake check obvious. If that is a step up, is it even possible? Come on Pinkbike commenters...someone knows this feature. Explain it to us all!
  • 2 0
@johnbalz: agreed, it's definitely a step up. The ramp is curved - no way is it a landing.
  • 1 0
@UPBike: I think so, as he did not have nearly the height to make the next ramp...
  • 11 0
@k-towntrailryder: Props for the build. Looks dialed.
  • 2 0
 Is that the tdub step-up??
  • 8 0
 @cheeverbrent: That was totally dental!
  • 5 0
@aharvey: You can see he panicked and grabbed a handful of brake literally halfway up the ramp in an attempt to abort mission, way too late. Came in hot, possibly enough to case, and hit the cancel button on the lip. This is definitely a doable feature.
  • 5 0
 Almost a snuff film.
  • 2 0
 @Apecush: no, its in revy
  • 4 0
 That was an all-timer.
  • 23 0
Here is a different view of the step up

  • 3 0
ET go home... Pedal pedal... Nope... ET go ER!
  • 1 0
 Not even close!
  • 1 0
@k-towntrailryder: All the way from Bangcock.
  • 1 0
Have you got any videos of people/you hitting it? @k-towntrailryder:
  • 2 0
@jfcarrier: Yes. That dude most definitely did NOT step up!
  • 2 0
@RayDolor: Honestly, I probably would not try that step up myself!
  • 2 0
@machaut: Ha ha right! Either way out of his skill set or was going the wrong way.
  • 4 0
@k-towntrailryder: From the pic, that thing looks sweet! And makes the fail clip so much worse.
  • 7 0
@cheeverbrent: I heard a crew of trailbuilding dentists actually built that jump right after the SB150 was released!
  • 2 0
@Weare138: Just keeping boutique bike companies in business
  • 1 1
@k-towntrailryder: careful....you just have just admitted to murder, cause I’m pretty sure that dude is dead...permanently....
  • 3 1
 @k-towntrailryder:
nice build. Erect a sign that says HUSTLE f*ckHEAD! I mean for safety reasons. That dude is always runnin 5k under in the fast lane too. Mental.
  • 3 0
@k-towntrailryder: What's the name of the trail? The Darwin awards? It's missing some pointed sticks on the front of the landing.
  • 3 0
I was half expecting a dentist to roll by at the end of the clip on a Yeti and hand the guy a business card.
  • 1 0
Its so bad but I snotted myself laughing as he was so far off the mark
  • 1 0
 @iantmcg: hahahah.
  • 43 1
My 2 year old has learned to say 'Shit' from these videos
  • 8 3
 Fat chance...
  • 18 0
Oh shit, sorry to hear that
  • 43 0
 Why not "Kurrrva" ?
  • 14 0
 In how many languages?
  • 28 0
My 6 year old now thinks that every time I come back from a ride, "you okay?" is the proper response.
  • 10 0
@DenisPonomariov: If he knew kurwa /kʊrvʌ/ then he would be officially bilingual Wink
  • 2 0
@DenisPonomariov: That is my new word, too!
  • 1 0
I only watch FF while taking a shit, guess where I am now...
  • 4 0
 @alwaysOTB: On The Bowl ?
  • 33 0
Kinda surprised the dude on the loose cliff side didnt roll all the way down into the river at the bottom. I know that go pro vision is warping it but that view makes it look closer to base jumping. So crazy to me people can ride that stuff at all
  • 1 0
 Thing about the same thing
  • 8 0
This one 100% had my palms a little sweaty
  • 2 0
That's me, It was pretty intense for sure! Honestly it's steeper in person! Awesome terrain to ride though!
  • 1 0
 @studers: is that Williams Lake?
  • 1 0
@Jvisscher: yeah that's the nearest town
  • 1 0
@Jvisscher: Farwell canyon, those chutes can be a nasty place to make mistakes. The terrain is really sensitive to weather and previous riders too, so it can just be nasty all around.
  • 1 0
@oldschoolsteel: sounds like you don’t want me riding there!
  • 2 0
The crazy thing is GoPro video is warping in the other direction - I've seen videos of stuff I thought was really steep tech that looks super flat and easy on GoPro. If it looks steep on GoPro you know it's super steep. And that chute Looked SUPER STEEP on GoPro, fucking terrifying man!
  • 18 1
I feel like there is maybe 75% of the videos where you notice their form, approach, how they wear their helmet, line choice, or some combination that tells you that they are going to eat it. Not to say there aren't pro riders that fail, just saying there are a lot of squids with "tells" before it happens.
  • 12 5
I also look for the backpack/hydration packs. Seems to larger the pack, bigger the squid. When hitting jumps or 'aggressive' riding are involved.
  • 22 0
spoke reflectors are a dead giveaway for me.....
  • 6 2
I'm going to add sock type into the fold. White dad-socks are a sign of bad things to come.
  • 3 0
@RonniePivot: And those cheap flimsy Walmart helmets are also a dead giveaway...
  • 2 0
Runners or hikers is another dead giveaway of impending doom!
  • 38 0
I'm usually 99.999% they're gonna eat it because I'm watching Friday Fails.
  • 6 0
@ryan83: Hey, now, I exclusively rock long, white, dad-socks, you whippersnapper!
  • 3 1
@bman33: Remy Metallier would beg to differ!
  • 1 0
 1:13 is your boy!
  • 2 1
@pumpjumpnflow: always exceptions. Remy isn't usually on Friday fails. Squids are :
  • 3 0
A obviously good rider in friday fails has me sweating more... worried for them. They squids I care not for.
  • 14 0
Crossfit bro at 1:30 got confused between step ups and chin ups.
  • 9 0
The cringe when he doesn't move for a couple seconds after rag-dolling head first into a pile of random logs and sticks.......
  • 17 7
I think 1:30 might have taken a drop backwards
  • 2 1
oh, that makes more sense. I was like holy crap you literally have to be a pro dh guy to go fast enough to land that thing. That kid was going fast and he wasn't even close hahaha
  • 8 3
Lol definitely not he just failed to the max
  • 7 2
@DAN-ROCKS: He got scared and grabbed brake - it looked like he had it before he got on the wood...
  • 8 0
Said this on the other comment too...no way thats a drop. Look at how its built. Who would build a landing like that?? Its obviously the take-off. Stylishskier is right, the dude panicked and grabbed a handful of brake too late.
  • 15 0
 Nope, step up
  • 3 0
@DAN-ROCKS: Dude lost his nerve right at the end, but he's way ahead of me for even thinking about trying it though.
  • 9 0
FF with a solid and straight kurva are the best Smile
Got wet hands at 3:08 when the rear wheel started taking over :-o
  • 8 0
Three words you never want to hear: "pedal pedal pedal!"
  • 13 0
Frantically yelling pedal 3x usually means it's way too late. Should have yelled abort, abort, abort...
  • 6 0
was actually nervous when the video started at 3:10 - wasn't sure how that was going to end
  • 6 0
Nice Wiley Coyote fail on the step up. Did he get his bike from the ACME bike company?
  • 1 0
Guys, I need help. I’ve been trying to find one of the older Friday Fails to show to my little nephew. In that clip, little kid called Billy sends it. All you can hear is mum and dad shouting “Billy, slow down! Billy, slow down!” He sends it big anyway. You know what happens next!
I’ve been scrolling thorough old FFs, got to 15 so far and keep searching. Ping us a message if you remember which one it was! ????
  • 5 0
1:30 - is that what it feels like to be the first one to test a new ramp?
  • 5 0
Freeride dude at 3:10 or so was killing it. holy sketch
  • 1 0
wasn't this area showed in Where the Trail Ends?
  • 1 0
@vemegen: looks like Kamloops or something
  • 1 0
@vemegen: kurt sorges chute show is the best edit from that area, doerflings done some gnarly lines there too
  • 4 0
Happy to see some OG Washington spots in here this week! 27 and Constitution yeww
  • 3 0
I loved that "body bounce" on Constitution.
  • 4 0
We need a Friday Fails Filthy Language Edition. Kurva! and Sh*t! just doesn't cut it anymore, no matter how lovely the fail.
  • 2 0
Not sure if the reflectors still on the spokes is a cause of the crash or a symptom of a rider who does not know wtf they are doing...
  • 2 0
Normally you watch this and think, here we go again: a couple dead sailors, a few who bit off more than they can chew. Then freeride guy comes along...
  • 1 0
I wanna see that guys edit.
  • 4 0
Sketchy wood features at 0:56 must be made of kurva wood
  • 2 0
3:26 - Whoever did that is the Michael Bay of Friday Fail videos. Epic scenery, expensive AF bike, and plenty of bike following tumbling rider action.
  • 1 0
@ 3:13 you can smell the fear...
  • 3 0
That wood ramp step up turned into quite the let down.
  • 1 0
At 1:30 did anyone else see what look like a small bear running uphill to the left? Small black blob in the left-ish middle of the shot.
  • 1 0
Sure, blame the wipeout on a bear running across the trail...lol
  • 1 0
 A small bear?
that was another rider coming down the trail. For sure
  • 1 0
I did notice it, replayed a couple of times because that was my first thought, but I think it was another rider.
  • 2 0
Maybe I'm incorrect, but I feel like Marquette repped pretty hard in this week's fails.
  • 2 0
Good god these are some of the worst I’ve seen
  • 2 0
1:30, yikes! And 3:10 could've ended far worse.... kudos all.
  • 2 0
The tree hits are the worst
  • 5 0
I like the guy that yells "tree" as if it is a courtesy to others that may not see it.
  • 3 0
I think the guy yelling tree was just letting the dude know what just knocked him off his bike. ????

Rider: thinking (WTF just happened?)
Dude: TREE!!!!
Rider: Darn forest.
  • 1 0
@ElDebarge: go back and watch at 0:37 with the volume turned up loud. It looks and sounds like it's the rider saying "tree... fu#%" as he winces and then you hear the cameraman much closer for a split second before the cut.
  • 6 0
@thinkbike: I think he was calling his shot.
Like in pool:
Corner pocket
  • 1 0
Speaking from experience, I would agree!
  • 1 0
I think at 1.21, the guy is already in position for a quick nap before continuing on..
  • 2 0
0:46 is Boneshaker at Mont Ste-Marie
  • 2 0
 Total carnage!
Are these people made of rubber?
  • 1 0
Great cinematography this week. Thought the first video was a classic Innaratu tracking shot.
  • 1 0
the first three are just foreplay, after that is just hard f...k with coming too early....
  • 1 0
@pinkbike please upload our weekly doses to the pinkbike media as well, my app doesn't let me see yt embedded videos
  • 2 0
Friday fails is where I come to learn "you ok?" in foreign languages
  • 1 0
I don't know if is on purpose for appears in this Friday segment, but every week the people is getting nastiest jajajaja.
  • 1 0
The clip at 15 seconds was the highest quality Friday Fails shot in history
  • 1 0
That grunt at 2:22,that guy is really frustrated, bet ir was his 5th try or something
  • 1 0
Friday Fails: Busted Left Shoulder Edition
  • 1 0
Dude at 1:30 forgot to hit the eject button. Big Grin
  • 1 0
friday fails: leaving skid marks with your helmet edition
  • 1 0
OMG that vid at 1:29 was brutal
  • 1 0
1:29 is as bad as it gets.
  • 1 0
2.54 is just getting thrown around by the bike!
  • 1 0
Step ups for the win today! Ps. Pedaling in air wont make him fly
  • 1 0
That slide at 3:15 had my butthole puckering tighter than a snare drum
  • 1 0
Imagine how I felt haha! Back wheel started slipping out but it was too late to correct so just had to drop in, came away relatively unscathed considering
  • 1 0
Crash on the left mine side
  • 1 0
My collar bone feels sore all of the sudden...
  • 3 1
 Put on some gloves!
  • 2 3
keep your bitch mitts! real men don't need them
  • 1 0
Seems like the only crashes we ever see are a result of jumps.
  • 1 0
Did 0:14 guy land on a seal?
  • 1 2
Rampage dude would have cleaned it for sure with gloves on.
