The percentage of these that were new acting riders in way over their head is concerning. Backflip over 40' sender dude had me less worried then "how slow can I go and not commit to this feature" guys.
Coming from bmx to mtb this was one of the most shocking things to see...all these 40 year dudes who look like they bought their first bike a week ago hucking themselves off 6 ft drops and shit.
@jeremy3220: Yah mtbs can bail you out of a lot but there are people out there that apparently think they do all the work for you or something. I don’t want to bash and I’m no pro myself. I don’t however like seeing people get hurt simply by making choices on moves they aren’t ready for.
@cougar797: Yep, it's the, "l landed that 2 foot drop just fine, lets go for the 4 foot" type attitude. When in reality they didn't land the 2 foot drop well at all, they just narrowly avoided crashing on it but don't know that. In my first few years of mountain biking, almost 20 years ago now, I had a lot of crashes due to overconfidence. I'd rail turn, think I was hot shit because I rail it, then go too fast into the next turn and crash. I mean without crashing, one can't progress quickly, but definitely some of these people are trying features too far above their skill level.
Holy crap. This week had it all. The first one was possibly the most gleefully funny fail EVER, back flips to the stratosphere, back flips to no where, accidental supermans, falling off a cliff in a humorous way, failed ramps, a slow-mo showing... I still can't figure out what happened. IT... HAD... IT... ALL!!!
Seems like alot of the recent Fails are of "newish" riders. I wonder if there will be alot of "slightly" used bikes on Craigslist/Pinkbike in the near future?
"Used 2020 Trek EX9 only ridden 5 times...dont have time to ride..."
Most will be 'shit' bikes MSRP under $1000. The gems will be in 3 yrs when they clean out the garage or need space and will unload that $6000 bike after only 5 rides 3 crashes. But they'll want $5500 for it.
Second last clip.. An example of not setting your shock rebound and having it propel you over the bars. Set your rear shock rebound people. don't be like him
I think you missed the pedal strike @3:44 I had to re-watch that one a couple of times to see what exactly went wrong aside from all his body weight sinking forward into the bike. Body falling into the bike= front pedal rotates down and meets trail side/rock... results: OTB.
Always amazed at how hard the camera people fail on some of these. How is it even possible to lose a person out of the screen when something this awesome is happening.
I feel good about the future, with all these new people riding MTB these days I have to believe the average person will be just a bit more tough going forward Stop complaining, ride your bike.
What was the rider at 2:04 thinking? "Lets just ride into this rock drop/gap as slow as possible and see what happens". It blows me away how many people seem to try stuff like this with no plan and no skills.
@0:12 The sympathetic groaning from the camera guy got me... I usually don’t crack up at the nasty looking crashes but I couldn’t help myself on this one.
hats of to filmers, who despite are watching their friends get smoked, don't get distracted and make sure to film the entirety of their friends getting smoked.
I missed some good ones... slippery ramps, huck to tree, spectacular barrel roll abandon's, your friends wheel to the face. Better than usual Pinkbike. Better than usual.
@mybaben: A friend of mine spent 6 weeks in the hospital and then time in a TBI ward for a crash about that bad. They thought he had early-onset dementia, but it was after-effects of the out cold as a mackerel concussion. He was 40 yrs old at the time.
What can go wrong?

This one was the real deal!
I just stopped crying/laughing at the video, to start all over again after reading your comment!
lol!
( it hurt)
"Used 2020 Trek EX9 only ridden 5 times...dont have time to ride..."
...doesnt mention it has been in 3 MAJOR crashes

So many tree hits this week.
The guys sliding off the wood bridge looked like they were in some hurt.
What did he actually think was going to happen?!?
0:33: Nope.
