I have come up with a surefire formula to get on Friday fails:

1) Stay seated when going off jumps,
2) Whatever speed you think you need, cut it in half,
3) Keep your body as stiff as possible, and
4) When in doubt, grab the front brake as hard as possible.
  • 46 0
 5) in case anything goes wrong try to save it by running with your bike between your legs.
  • 36 0
 2) or double it
  • 12 2
 1:38
my god people don't know how to ride a damn bike.
  • 5 0
@Arepiscopo: as demonstrated by the gentleman at 3:24 followed up by the classic pinball manoeuvre.
  • 2 1
@IluvRIDING: Lol, I was riding and overinflated my tires because the shop pump was broken (knew that in hindsight). Two minutes into riding, I come around a loose corner and completely lose traction. I ran my bike out exactly like a Friday Fail. Took out some air pressure and everything was fine.
  • 1 0
@freeinpg: I was gonna say that guy looked like a ragdoll. Ouch!
  • 5 0
** when in doubt, Remove feet from pedals.
  • 2 0
@Arepiscopo: Yeah there were two in that bunch where speed was definitely not an issue- the attempted send of the roll and then another soon after. I cringed at both of those.
  • 1 0
Much laughing at this comment. Thanks.

 5) Have cameraman ask "Are you alright" while you're crashing
  • 3 0
You forgot the old chestnut......give a big pull on your handlebars, guaranteed to boost your chances of stacking it.
  • 1 0
@nosetorque: while filming the ground insted of the rider
  • 1 0
When failing aim at a tree to stop your slide.
  • 7 0
 6) The "Bad Advice" drop
Step 1: approach drop at mach turtle
Step 2: as soon as the front tire is over the edge, jam butt cheeks into rear tire immediately
Step 3: watch in horror as your face is catapulted into the ground
  • 2 0
@mountainfishy: We have ALL been there.
  • 30 0
Level of crashes - "Owww, whoa" - not bad. "Shiiit" (most popular) a bit sore after. "F@#k" - possible trauma.
  • 2 0
“Oh shit” heavy Fridays always deliver.
  • 3 0
Obviously, all of the above can be substituted with "Kurwa". It works in any given crash related situation.
  • 1 0
You are missing “Blat”. It was on last clip. Meaning is same as Kurva Or Kurwa.
  • 4 0
You missed the worst level: Dead silence.
  • 20 0
For me, XC is the scariest thing ever. Lycra, clipped and 90's geo.
  • 52 0
And that clip at 1:45 shows that you can get tangled up with a rider WITHOUT stabbing him!
  • 7 0
@rrolly: You don't know what happened after the clip ended!
  • 17 0
 GTA5 Ragdoll physics @3:23 ... wow brutal
  • 3 0
Yeah, he hit the deck hard!
  • 3 0
You ride fast, you crash fast. Both looks spectacular!
  • 4 0
 so close to saturday sends
  • 6 0
...aaaaand that's why i keep it at about 80% as i near 50 yrs old. Every gnarly crash like that has correlated to one more percentage point off the old "give 'er 100!." Want to ride the next day and just don't heal fast anymore.

Hope that dude's ok. He was rippin'.
  • 2 0
Cheers boys, I was lucky enough to escape with light concusion.
  • 14 0
Some pretty sketchy trail building this week. People need to think before they dig.
  • 3 0
no dig no ride? more like no think no ride
  • 11 0
 @DAN-ROCKS:
No think no dig.
  • 12 0
That snow reason not to send it.
  • 1 0
 That one looks nasty!
  • 7 0
They should have just ....powdered thru it.
  • 10 0
If you have less than 1 year experience find the biggest jump you can and launch it.
  • 2 0
If you eat shit trying to bunnyhop up a curb you should not hit the doubles
  • 9 1
 -biker, falls off bike
-british guy before he's hit the ground- you alright?
  • 8 0
Lol. Should ask the question before the rider hits the jump.
  • 2 0
@rrolly: pre emptivethe screw up questioning
  • 1 0
@KevinH69: would this come into 'you sure about that?' territory
  • 8 0
@ 1:50 you can hear his soul leaving his body
  • 2 0
So the 2nd jumper at 3:17: Was this a rebound thing or a skills thing or a combination of the two? Jumper #1 shorted the jump but smoothly rolled over the transition while jumper #2 went for the extra credit thrill ride. Asking for a friend. Thanks
  • 1 1
 skills
  • 2 0
Skills / bike setup. You can see the second rider went down cause after the first landing he bounced into the second drop without being able to absorb the impact, body moves back, front gets light and he has no more control over the direction of the bike from that position.
  • 1 0
Squid. a. not sending it proper. b. can't take a hit.
  • 2 0
First rider slows just before the drop, moving his momentum forward. Pushes forward after leaving the drop, weight over the seat and is able to squash the first compression. Second rider pulls up and shifts weight backward. Totally over the rear wheel and off balance. While it might not be the main reason for the crash it looks like the suspension blew through the travel as well, leading to him getting bounced that much harder. But main reason is pulls on the bar and weight back.

0:32 is Highland and I will be there in a month for opening weekend!! That poor girl at 1:00 didn't take the drop confidently and damn did she slam. I hope everyone survived and I don't make any Friday fails footy in a month!
  • 5 0
I made a FF! Well sort of, Im sitting on the log in the background at 3:33.
  • 4 2
I caught my bars on a branch sticking out on a really steep rocky incline once, sent me sorta sideways OTB, slammed into the rocks heavily on my right side, pretty sure my spine is a twisted pretzel at this point. I tried to avoid a rattler once too that was right at the worst rockiest part of the trail, I almost killed myself trying to avoid the damn thing, I probably would have suffered less damage if I had let it bite me. Both crashes if caught on camera would have made the Friday fails for sure.

There is always a clip each week where you are thinking "How in the world would someone wreck on this feature?" at the beginning of the clip. That award this week goes to 1:35.

Only 2 Assapults this week. Maybe people are learning?
  • 4 0
Rider from opening clip looks like he died on impact
  • 2 0
I was reminded of 2 things while watching this series of fails:

1) Do more pushups and upper body strengthening.
2) Reinforced my belief that winter is for skiing.

"And that's why you______" Fill in the blank. J Walter Weatherman in the first clip.

 @phil-e-b: tinder these days amirite
  • 2 0
@DAN-ROCKS: ya man, i made 2 profiles on tinder so i always have dates. i mean my 2 profiles can date each other.
  • 5 0
 Lots of s**ts this week
  • 1 0
 Yeah, needed more Kurwa.
  • 3 0
1:41: XC spectator catches tumbling XC bike and then falls on the rider. Is that a fail or a save?
  • 5 0
To the Bellingham senior up on stabbing charges, that's a fail since there was no blood loss.
  • 1 0
 He failed to stab him.
  • 1 0
 Under 60?... save.
  • 1 1
i have come to the conclusion that there are two types of ppl in this world. the ones who just fricken suck at riding bikes and make me sad and the ones who are better but still should not be doing some of the stuff they are
  • 4 0
1:10 is my type of crowd. Someone eats shit and everyone has a laugh.
  • 1 0
 Two thoughts:
1) For a brief moment at the start I thought this might finally be what I've asked for, the FF that was all "Oh sh*ts"

2) Thought 1:34 was slo-mo, but nope, just slow
  • 1 0
Way more concern about friend's well being than normally. Only a few folks outright laughing. As for 1:36, pretty sad to eat it on a completely rollable drop
  • 4 0
 3"23 Jesus Physics.
  • 2 0
Just way too fast, not sure how he was ever going to duck under the tree at that speed.
  • 3 0
That step up on Ryan's is always a doosy, I see so many OTB there
  • 1 0
I recommend asking your friends if they are ok After they have finished wrecking completely, and maybe wait a second or 2 afterwards
  • 1 0
2.30 and we have liftoff! Some are brutal!! More power to them for trying
  • 2 0
You might say the first guy got his bell rung..
  • 4 0
He should have let his Evil do the work!
  • 1 0
@UnInc126: What's this from? seen it all over Friday Fails comment sections

 Nose heavy edition
  • 1 0
One would think by the time your buddy has set up to film you, you would figure out what is needed to NOT go OTB!
  • 2 0
1:35 looked like super slow mo at first
  • 1 0
what kinda bike is that at 2:50? Does anyone recognize that one? Looks like a nice HT
  • 1 0
@tofhami That's me, was very excited to get into Friday Fails. Its a Ribble HT 725 and it rides very nice indeed, bit heavy though; my build is 16.4kg.
  • 2 0
1:20 - Missed his own hands.
  • 1 0
1:36 was some winning camera angle selection - I didn't realize the dinkyness of the drop until the crash.
  • 1 0
0:58 that's my buddy going otb at Duthie after I told her to just go for it... I'm a good friend!
  • 1 0
Finally, recognized one. 4th crash after the intro, Cat's Paw at Highland Bike Mountain Bike Park! Shout Out to Highland!
  • 2 0
Lots of Aussie representation this week. Gotta be honest, not proud of it.
  • 1 0
Next week is the week. None of us are going to crash, we will all land every jump. We can break this Friday fail thing.
  • 1 0
My son after I convinced him that crossing a creek is a piece of cake. photos.app.goo.gl/nfcrxR991soSWE1v5
  • 2 0
 You ok?
  • 3 0
 They are still wrecking! lol
  • 7 0
I hate that question. Let's see, the person is balled up on the ground after having a full yard sale and trying to take out a tree with their shoulder. No, they are not ok. The question is, are they going to be leaving under their own power or will alternative arrangements need to be made.
  • 9 0
@carym: Yes, but asking, "Are you going to be leaving under your own power or will alternative arrangements need to be made?" takes too long.
  • 4 0
@carym: Can someone please explain this to my better half haha... I know it's because she cares and all but it's the worst when I haven't even got my breath back, zero idea what happened or what hurts and she NEEDS TO KNOW IF I'M OK RIGHT NOW Wink
  • 5 0
I'm reminded of the scene in "Pulp Fiction" where Butch asks Marsellus that question, and he answers, "Nah, man. I'm pretty fckin' far from okay."
  • 1 0
At 3:23 we meet the human pinball.
  • 1 0
They have still better time than me on lockdown without riding Big Grin
  • 2 0
 The "Oh Sh!t" edition
  • 3 3
Is it a new thing to wear full face helmets on XC trails, see 1:16, or is that just really bad GoPro effect?
  • 11 1
No, the new thing is to get a 160mm full suspension ebike, full face, pads, and a chest protector and pedal around the fireroads pretending you are bombing some insane downhill. Not kidding, I see it all the time here, while I am pedaling on my hardtail, feeling all superior until some guy on a cross or gravel bike bombs past me going down and makes me feel insecure.
  • 2 0
@carym: Hahaha, I have seen the odd ball roady bike guy smash through insane rock gardens making us all look like fools but never seen the fully decked out DH racer on an Ebike, maybe it is coming here soon LOL
  • 10 3
I don't care how silly it makes me look, I like my teeth and I plan on keeping them in my head. I still wear an open face for a lot of xc though, but the second there are rocks or I am trying to push it the FF goes on.
  • 5 0
There's no way to judge that trail from the 5 metres or so shown in the video. Even the gnarliest DH trails have flatter sections.
  • 3 0
@carym: yeah, becoming increasingly common here too. E-bike and fully decked out head to toe in matching MX kit, FF and gogs for a ride round the local woods. Quite often they have a dubious idea of what a 'good' trail is too.
  • 2 0
@carym: my 160mm bike is also my cross country/hardtail/gravel/everything else bike. It’s all I’ve got, man.
  • 1 0
@everythingsucks: Yea, but I bet when you go down a moderate singletrack you don’t have some 50 year old guy on a hardtail on your ass because your are going so slowly. Ride what you have and enjoy it and look at the positive: You never have to think about what bike to ride.
  • 1 0
@4thflowkage: No arguing with that. I would have full face trail helmet, but they seem to be impossible to get right now.
  • 1 0
I feel like bikes are saying: Orange means WARNING...not: safety.
  • 1 0
I love how some people approach a drop then just stop before they go over.
  • 1 0
That blue Evil is really living up to it's name!
  • 2 0

  • 1 0
Is it considered a bad Friday fails if I didn't laugh?
  • 1 0
2:15 - Captain goes down with the ship
  • 1 0
1:29 is this guy literally sitting down as he goes off a drop??
  • 1 0
Wow that guy at 3:23 in the snow was crazy. He was flying! Carnage.
  • 1 0
Lots of purple nuts and bruised egos this Friday Fails.
