The dude that got taken out by the lady accidentally falling from a dead stop in front of him. Immediately more concerned about his riding buddy then himself before he was even done sliding. Thats good people. Props sir.
@Mikevdv: This is my group of guys and gal riding at Spider Mountain in Texas. This was their first time riding out there. Best time I have had out there in a while.
Fantastic! Since I usually ride alone their was no one around to share in the joy as I rolled down the trail yelling “ my beans!” when the dropper didn’t go down before I hit the rocky section, and I slammed into the back of my seat. Now I feel like we can all enjoy this poor guys similar fate.
1. Use your nut sack to absorb landings 2. Focus intently on trees and rocks you don't want to hit 3. HARD GRAB your front brake right before leaving the lip 4. Initiate a sharp turn immediately upon landing
5. Commit to the fail before it happens. You can see it in the position and body language of so many of the riders in these clips.
If we had that kind of commitment between married couples, the divorce rate would be near zero.
Watching Jerrys go OTB has been a guilty pleasure for a long time, but I feel less and less guilty every Friday. These videos are fair warning for them!
I don't think any of these people know that you have to pull up on the handlebars when jumping anything. It's almost as if they think Red bull actually does give them wings...
It's the preload that makes you fly, not "pulling up". Most of these people need to learn to push their bikes into the face of the jump as they go up it, instead of absorbing the jump and getting bucked or coming up short.
Thinking of it like a trampoline seems to be the most helpful metaphor. The more energy you push down into the trampoline, the higher you go. You can't leave the ground without first pushing against it, and the harder you push, the higher you go. Same with jumping.
@plyawn: While this is true you would think that if you didn't know anything about jumping you would at the very least pull up on the bars. A few cases of people seemingly riding off things with their upper body weighting the bars.
@bdub5696: I may break a bone or get a concussion (and that's a risk I take), but there aren't any 2 ton deer texting on the phone in the woods that are going to run me over. You don't see many white bicycles on the trails. Wife's parents are road bikers and I've been trying to convince them to get a mountain bike for years (may be a gravel bike is what I need to direct them to).
90% of the time you can tell if a person is going to crash based on how they hold themselves going into to jump / feature...the other 10% just got lucky
@ 0:58....dude! I hope he's okay but WHY would you attempt that drop?! ...could tell he had nowhere near enough confidence on that bike to attempt that in the way he rolled in. Let your buddies do that, have a beer, and just ride around it.
As a traveler who got 3 days worth of chances at the Whistler hip at the end, it was agonizingly slow watching that guy roll into it knowing full well, he would not get the magazine cover pic we all long for hitting it.
It's so nice to see so many people going to the same riding school. Remember when going off drops or jumps, lock both your arms and legs, do not shift your body weight, success.
3:42 might be one of my favourite fails of all time. Simple, (not) elegant. Mainly, the editing was perfect. Long lead-in to total failure, with a quick cut away.
One of the Pinkbike Plus perks should be having a flag show up in the buy/sell for any users who have been included in the Friday Fails and are selling bicycles - proceed with caution!
Hah!! They called me the faceplant 35 years ago cuz i deadsailored 8 ft in the air onto my face in a bmx race. Smashed it up pretty good. Broke my neck. Why? Cuz i was SHOWING OFF. I paid a price. These people are paying that price too! Its good to get your face beat to a pulp just to look like Remy. Things is........., YOUR NOT REMY!!!! Learn the basics. Learn how to jump SMALL jumps succesfully before boosting 25 foot doubles. These folks dont have the basics down. AT ALL!! If your suspension bucks you off, your missing some skills. I feel for these wreckers cuz i know how they feel today. Pretty damn sore.
Sooooo many of these could have been avoid had they simply limited themselves to one trail beer (while on their 3rd bike ride in 2 years) and avoided the "f**k it, I'm going to do it" mindset.

*but maybe you knew that already

Then the inevitable crunch follows.

The dead sailer at 2:30 made my day. Lmao
The turkey: "GlugluGLUgluglu!"
