I took his reaction as one of shock. Maybe his buddy was trying to do a single backflip and overrotated so hard he almost landed a double?
Only say that because the first time I did a flip off the high dive I overrotated and smacked my back almost getting 2 full flips in. NEVER...did I do that again.
@SATN-XC: Think big picture here; we ALL benefit if they focus on their primary job for a few more seconds, then rush to help. Remember you're first a documentarian of the human condition, then second a caring parent / spouse / buddy.
Crashing in any way is bad enough.
Then also having your frontwheel, fork or brake land right in your face - gruesome.
Hope that guy got away with nothing too serious.
I feel like Friday Fails helped me save a life. I was taking a jump class in Bentonville with some folks. Before we started, one guy dismounted, walked around to the front of his bike, straddled his wheel, and then wrestled his handlebar/stem into a slightly better alignment with the front wheel.
I asked "hey did you really just do that? And did it work? If so, you should go see the guy over there to tighten your stem to spec because that's a super sweet way people crash on Friday Fails." He did and no further drama ensued. We were doing 10 foot gaps from MTBHopper Pro ramps. Would've been ugly.
0:35. Dude was fine, until the front wheel, unbalanced due to an excess of reflectors, pulled his bars far to the right just prior to landing. This is a PSA, kids. Remove those reflectors.
He got fucked up too, you don't see it since the tree blocks the rest and there is only sound. He's back riding there smashing PR's again. I honestly usually skip that one since it's relatively short.
@Frankenbike42: yeah that was a doozy, hit that thing a hundred times, but was sessioning it since a new lip appeared on that step down. Overshot it with too much speed and missed the little lean to the left- nearly pulled it out but got close to the trees. Caught a dead branch in the face, that sent me cartwheeling. Shattered my cheekbones, cracked my shoulder, broke 4 ribs, 5 vertebrae & a collapsed lung - 2 days in ICU. Walked out though & told em I crashed at Betasso

Errr.....no. No he's not.
Kids these days.
"Hey guys, it's Friday, let's ride!"
"Imma get my camera. . . "
