did the guy who almost landed a double back flip really fail?

I think the fail was his mate's massive over reaction.
  • 6 0
could you imagine how pissed he'd have been with his cameraman if he had? they guy pretty much missed it!
  • 6 0
@commental: he was just super happy for his friend, and can be! Fgs double back flip!
  • 8 0
I took his reaction as one of shock. Maybe his buddy was trying to do a single backflip and overrotated so hard he almost landed a double?

Only say that because the first time I did a flip off the high dive I overrotated and smacked my back almost getting 2 full flips in. NEVER...did I do that again.

I'd tend to agree on that. If he practices that 10 more times or so, we'll see him on SS soon enough!
  • 3 0
 @RayDolor: Which SS?

Guy is still mid air heading face first in to a tree and his mate is like "you good?"

Errr.....no. No he's not.
  • 17 0
(1:13) It used to be common courtesy to wait for your friend's body to come to a complete stop before asking.

Kids these days.
  • 2 0
Yeah, his friend trusted him and he not only set him up for failure, but a broken neck. And I wish I were exaggerating.

Maybe if these guys ride on another day other than Friday - they might pull them off.
  • 8 0
 Right?!
"Hey guys, it's Friday, let's ride!"
"Imma get my camera. . . "

I told Saturday is pretty good

Airtime with gusty winds never seems to mix well.... Just the sound of the wind on the mic makes be cringe, nails on a chalkboard
  • 12 0
I always wonder when they edit to another clip mid crash if it’s a mistake, bad camera work, or censoring graphic carnage?
  • 2 2
....or (option 4) simply a decent person turning off record so they can assist (though your third option is what pops into my mind).
  • 16 0
@SATN-XC: Think big picture here; we ALL benefit if they focus on their primary job for a few more seconds, then rush to help. Remember you're first a documentarian of the human condition, then second a caring parent / spouse / buddy.

What gets me is all these people reacting to the crashes like they didnt expect such a thing could happen.
  • 3 0
Laughing at a crash with excitement......... why? I don't laugh when i see pain. I just don't get it...ever.
  • 3 0
@madmon: I think you misunderstood my comment...
  • 11 0
OK that double backy attempt was a bit of a win IMO
  • 7 0
Crashing in any way is bad enough. Then also having your frontwheel, fork or brake land right in your face - gruesome. Hope that guy got away with nothing too serious.
  • 7 0
 It's Full frontwheel assault Friday!

2:37! Have you ever seen a bike land so perfectly on a corpse? It's like the bike was planning that move the whole way!
  • 3 1
I feel like Friday Fails helped me save a life. I was taking a jump class in Bentonville with some folks. Before we started, one guy dismounted, walked around to the front of his bike, straddled his wheel, and then wrestled his handlebar/stem into a slightly better alignment with the front wheel.

I asked "hey did you really just do that? And did it work? If so, you should go see the guy over there to tighten your stem to spec because that's a super sweet way people crash on Friday Fails." He did and no further drama ensued. We were doing 10 foot gaps from MTBHopper Pro ramps. Would've been ugly.

The sounds of carnage @ 0:42....
  • 1 0
Against all odds, the bike was completely fine!
  • 2 0
Was wondering if we were hearing his bones giving in...or just an ordinary chain slap
  • 5 0
2:00 made me wince, but he didn't seem as hurt as I would have expected.
  • 4 0
I thought same, but I also think we need to see the next 5 seconds or so to figure out which path he's going down.
  • 4 0
@iammarkstewart: Yeah, that one was the worst for me this week. There is no way you are getting out of that without some time off the bike.
  • 3 0
First questions to him....”do you know where you are....do you know what day it is?”
  • 5 1
The dude at 3:03 landed on his ass and looked like he was questioning all life choices that brought him to that point
  • 2 0
nah, he was just confused. It happens when you get unexpectedly thrown Smile
  • 5 0
That opening clip was really something else
  • 3 0
Right, I mean the guy totally made the gap.
  • 3 1
0:35. Dude was fine, until the front wheel, unbalanced due to an excess of reflectors, pulled his bars far to the right just prior to landing. This is a PSA, kids. Remove those reflectors.

Hey how’ bout I get some sick drone footage of you trying to ride the beginner jump line! ...ok
  • 2 0
Yeah, I was thinking "punters have drone footy now - time to step my game up".
  • 3 0
YOOOOOOOOO ... yooo Funny how the same word can mean to very different things.
  • 4 0
 Another epic wallride pass!
  • 4 0
Finally get to see a Friday Fail on a trail I built
  • 2 0
He got fucked up too, you don't see it since the tree blocks the rest and there is only sound. He's back riding there smashing PR's again. I honestly usually skip that one since it's relatively short.
  • 3 0
@Frankenbike42: yeah that was a doozy, hit that thing a hundred times, but was sessioning it since a new lip appeared on that step down. Overshot it with too much speed and missed the little lean to the left- nearly pulled it out but got close to the trees. Caught a dead branch in the face, that sent me cartwheeling. Shattered my cheekbones, cracked my shoulder, broke 4 ribs, 5 vertebrae & a collapsed lung - 2 days in ICU. Walked out though & told em I crashed at Betasso
  • 3 0
The kid at 2:00...that was literally the first time his front wheel has ever been off the ground....
  • 3 0
Sounds like the film guy did something in his pants at 0:50
  • 3 0
We need more drone footage in Friday Fails!
  • 3 0
0:40 the climbmax rock hip! What an explosion! Hopefully he is okay!
  • 3 0
He is! A couple weeks on the injured reserve with a concussion but back on the bike (and sending that same jump) already.
  • 1 0
second guy watched the opening and thought, OK I'm definitely not doing that
  • 1 0
Looks like you should never ride in second position, they seem to crash the most.
  • 1 0
Some one should keep track of the ratio of concerned "holy $H**ts" to uproarious cackling.
  • 2 0
Every double backflip without a broken neck is a win!
  • 1 1
@sarahmoore Not sure who’s responsible but I’d like to send a “thank you!” for editing the swearing. Greatly appreciated. tup
  • 1 0
Sliding into Friday like these people into the ground!
  • 1 0
Is it possible to send some crash vids to pinkbike?
  • 2 0

  • 1 0
1:18 "You okay man?" while the dude is still cartwheeling.
  • 1 0
and I thought you were supposed to gap the road not pave it

3:23 has his dead sailor dialled to perfection
