Wow, is it just me or was that a particular violent edition of Friday fails. We really only got one or two low consequence flops. WTF was the kid jumping off the roof thinking? In what alternate universe could that ever work?
@SuperHighBeam: LoL disagree to the extent that I've never heard anyone who sounds so much like Yoann! Looks like maybe she tried to brake hard at the bottom of the rock roll. Gotta carry some speed out of that one!
This was a very good demonstration as to why I avoid jumping doubles at all costs. If I do them I ride way faster than I should to avoid coming up short and being catapulted like so many riders in this Friday Fails; I very rarely attempt a double.
@friendlyfoe: Good point. Step downs (aka drops) are also pretty sketch. I generally avoid anything larger than 3ft these days (and I'm in my mid 30's). The thrill of a larger drop just isn't worth the added risk. Had I started mountain biking at a younger age and gotten more proficient earlier on, I would probably be more willing to accept greater risks and ride bigger features. I started mountain biking in my early 20's.
@SuperHighBeam: Silverstar bike park has a stepdown with a long and short takeoff at the top of the run so you have to pedal really hard to get into it, and there is a wooden bridge with posts on both sides for the runout. From the small one it's maybe 6ft down 8 foot across which goes really nicely. Big one is probably closer to 20ft across and if you cased the knuckle of the downslope it's sending you OTB into one of the bridge rails. No thanks!
They have since built a shorter takeoff to the right of the big one, and the bridge is probably just far enough away that you would be mostly stopped before hitting it. Still the idea of coming up just short enough on the big gap that you catch the top knuckle of that landing resulting in an OTB scares the crap out of me.
@friendlyfoe: My perception from the video is that you'd have plenty of distance to slam the brakes if you botched the step down. Doesn't look that sketchy to me. Regardless though, crashing on the bridge would suck.
@SuperHighBeam: Sorry meant if you came up just short enough that you landed on the knuckle, and would likely get ejected OTB. You'd probably stop sliding before you hit the bridge but it comes up fast lol.
Coming from a place with no trees all I can say is, WOW! When I have traveled places to ride that have a lot of trees I thought, “Trees keeps you honest.” Go too fast in the desert, as long as there aren’t any huge rocks around, you’re good. But riding in the trees always make me more cognizant of my speed. Not these bastards. Yikes!!!
This is the first FF I've watched since breaking my arm (4th time, 1st time on a bike). I find it less funny, but only a tiny bit so. Still a great way to end the week, I think I'm just envious that these fools get to ride and I don't lmao
Yeeww almost like, Friday Fatalities these last couple weeks ,hope there a tough bunch, I love it when they ask if they’re ok before they’re even done crashin ,like ,WTF Dude ,lemme finish bro last one taking the camera dude w/em looked pretty brutal too. Kinda makes ya wana activate the broken bone/frame sound filter or something , CraAcKK Kills !!
:30 seconds in is just amazing. Having had a similar post-crash hit on the head by my bike, I can only say I wish someone had busted out laughing the same way.
Yeah, that's a seldom seen variant of "are you ok?" where the coaching person inflicts their will upon their student with "you are ok". Often wishful thinking.
Jedi mind trick.
Rider: Arrgghhhh!!
Bike: Alright you Mother F'er, enough of this, I quit! Take that, and that, and...
Damn that was funny/

And now oddly bummed out that I didn't have my gopro on at the time. I could have been famous!
4-6 weeks before riding can commence. Broken ribs + toe that is fractured in multiple places, and joint that may need to be fused .
Heh.
At this point I’d settle for old man Logan’s healing powers .

Does a bike crash in the woods if there is nobody around to send it to pinkbike? I say no.
yoann: slow slow then release
crashes*
yoann: you are ok
00:43: Finally, someone begins to realize it's not all good.
