Wow, is it just me or was that a particular violent edition of Friday fails. We really only got one or two low consequence flops. WTF was the kid jumping off the roof thinking? In what alternate universe could that ever work?

 Sean Burns inspired

That positively felt like a brutal Friday fails
  • 8 0
A very fine selection of carnage. One of the best!
  • 3 0
@nozes: Yes many very hard hits. Much pain, and many that had the wind knocked out of them for sure. I envy none of these riders.
  • 1 0
That had some bouncy bodies! Most otb's send you down hard, that one guy got launched straight up!
  • 5 0
Don’t worry, that was a UK council estate, those kids are tough! Only need a hoodie for anything
  • 1 0
@sewer-rat: and a bag of draw
  • 2 0
@pigman65: touche, resin is realz for feelz
  • 2 0
@T4THH: Not gonna lie, some of his bone deth videos had me itching to do some sketchy roof sends.
  • 1 0
IDK. This week seemed like a bouncy roller coaster versus last weeks brutality.

is it just me or is at 2:33 that sounds like yoann barrelli( im butchering that)
  • 6 0
I thought exactly the same! I like the 'oh oh - your OK!'
  • 5 0
 Must be.
  • 13 0
@tuhuramtb: haha my exact thinkin -: everyone else: "Are you OK?" Yoann: "You ARE OK."
Jedi mind trick.
  • 16 0
It is Yoann, so that could be why
  • 4 4
I'm going to eat my words here but it's because the french all sound the same.
  • 7 0
It's definitely Yoann. My guess is this was from the into the gnar thing where you can buy tickets to ride with / get coached by him
  • 1 0
@SuperHighBeam: LoL disagree to the extent that I've never heard anyone who sounds so much like Yoann! Looks like maybe she tried to brake hard at the bottom of the rock roll. Gotta carry some speed out of that one!
  • 3 0
its him teaching and that rider was NOT listening lmao
  • 1 0
@rustyglaze5: yeah he is coaching groms lately!
  • 25 0
I love it when the bike assaults the rider.
  • 9 1
 Lol...

Rider: Arrgghhhh!!
Bike: Alright you Mother F'er, enough of this, I quit! Take that, and that, and...
  • 1 0
@bhuckley: At 0:55? Just to add insult to injury. Rough break(s)
  • 26 0
 No Shirt. No Landing.
  • 6 0
Oh there was most definitely a "landing"
  • 18 0
Today's fails brought to you by under skilled and overconfident. With a special thanks to trailside trees.
  • 12 0
Love a good Yoann Barelli Cameo!
  • 10 0
Thank you for finally moving the logos out of the way of the last clip. That crash was especially worthy of full display!!
  • 8 0
 It's rainning bikes, aleluia!!
  • 7 0
 Slow Slow - You OK

Damn that was funny/
  • 15 0
It sounded like Yoann Barelli filming!!
  • 2 0
@singletrack29er: I think you're on to something! The "whoop!" gave it away.
  • 2 0
 @singletrack29er: unmistakably
  • 7 0
 Tatoos don't protect you...

The popularity of gap jumps with skilled riders has lead to a 1,762% increase in gap jump fails in the last fiscal year.
  • 6 0
got some heavy hitters this week
  • 4 2
This was a very good demonstration as to why I avoid jumping doubles at all costs. If I do them I ride way faster than I should to avoid coming up short and being catapulted like so many riders in this Friday Fails; I very rarely attempt a double.
  • 3 0
Not just gaps but step downs too! It's good to be able to recognize which jumps are caseable and which aren't!
  • 2 1
@friendlyfoe: Good point. Step downs (aka drops) are also pretty sketch. I generally avoid anything larger than 3ft these days (and I'm in my mid 30's). The thrill of a larger drop just isn't worth the added risk. Had I started mountain biking at a younger age and gotten more proficient earlier on, I would probably be more willing to accept greater risks and ride bigger features. I started mountain biking in my early 20's.

@SuperHighBeam: Silverstar bike park has a stepdown with a long and short takeoff at the top of the run so you have to pedal really hard to get into it, and there is a wooden bridge with posts on both sides for the runout. From the small one it's maybe 6ft down 8 foot across which goes really nicely. Big one is probably closer to 20ft across and if you cased the knuckle of the downslope it's sending you OTB into one of the bridge rails. No thanks!
  • 1 0
@SuperHighBeam: Random youtube video 1:37 minute mark www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3jTF5-PFWw

They have since built a shorter takeoff to the right of the big one, and the bridge is probably just far enough away that you would be mostly stopped before hitting it. Still the idea of coming up just short enough on the big gap that you catch the top knuckle of that landing resulting in an OTB scares the crap out of me.
  • 1 0
@friendlyfoe: My perception from the video is that you'd have plenty of distance to slam the brakes if you botched the step down. Doesn't look that sketchy to me. Regardless though, crashing on the bridge would suck.
  • 1 0
@SuperHighBeam: Sorry meant if you came up just short enough that you landed on the knuckle, and would likely get ejected OTB. You'd probably stop sliding before you hit the bridge but it comes up fast lol.
  • 1 0
@friendlyfoe: Yes, that would definitely suck.

First time watching a FF while injured! The ones that were like my crash made me flinch more than normal.

And now oddly bummed out that I didn't have my gopro on at the time. I could have been famous!

4-6 weeks before riding can commence. Broken ribs + toe that is fractured in multiple places, and joint that may need to be fused Frown .
  • 1 0
 So, you're not THAT Logan
  • 1 0
 @bishopsmike:

Heh.

At this point I’d settle for old man Logan’s healing powers Big Grin .
  • 2 0
Coming from a place with no trees all I can say is, WOW! When I have traveled places to ride that have a lot of trees I thought, “Trees keeps you honest.” Go too fast in the desert, as long as there aren’t any huge rocks around, you’re good. But riding in the trees always make me more cognizant of my speed. Not these bastards. Yikes!!!
  • 2 1
This is the first FF I've watched since breaking my arm (4th time, 1st time on a bike). I find it less funny, but only a tiny bit so. Still a great way to end the week, I think I'm just envious that these fools get to ride and I don't lmao

Friday Fails gets a little harder to watch if you're coming off a recent bad one, but after a while the fun factor comes back.
  • 1 0
 Yeeww
almost like, Friday Fatalities these last couple weeks ,hope there a tough bunch, I love it when they ask if they’re ok before they’re even done crashin ,like ,WTF Dude ,lemme finish bro Smile last one taking the camera dude w/em looked pretty brutal too. Kinda makes ya wana activate the broken bone/frame sound filter or something ,
CraAcKK Kills !!
  • 5 0
 Money ending!
  • 1 0
I've figured it out. If I never let anyone record me ride, then nobody can send it to Friday Fails, and I'll never crash.

Does a bike crash in the woods if there is nobody around to send it to pinkbike? I say no.
  • 1 0
:30 seconds in is just amazing. Having had a similar post-crash hit on the head by my bike, I can only say I wish someone had busted out laughing the same way.
  • 2 0
0:45. Slow it down and you can see the sealant blow out of his front tire when the wheel goes perpendicular to the bike...
  • 1 0
nice catch. i didn't even notice the that the tire completely ripped off the rim.
  • 7 0
The carbon rim actually tacoed on that one. Ask me how I know .. lol
  • 1 0
@speedys4: Ha. So was that at RPT or another spot?
  • 1 0
@pmhobson: that was at Fear and Loaming
  • 1 0
@speedys4: Ahh cool. I still haven't made it out there.
  • 1 0
 @pmhobson: opens (officially) real soon!
  • 2 0
 yoann barrelli total savage...
yoann: slow slow then release
crashes*
yoann: you are ok
  • 3 0
Yeah, that's a seldom seen variant of "are you ok?" where the coaching person inflicts their will upon their student with "you are ok". Often wishful thinking.
  • 2 0
These were so brutal this week. It almost made me want to crawl off into the woods to die after some of them.
  • 2 0
Prob could have just played half the WC field in Les Gets trying to figure out how to jump that turning road gap, haha.
  • 2 0
 He hucked it to flat........

  • 1 0
At 1:46 The dive just between the 2 trees is almost a save. It could have hurt a lot more ...

I think he smacked one with the head.. he's out cold at the end..poor dude
  • 1 0
46 Seconds: That thing where you start to ask "You Ok?" and then realize before you finish the answer is no.

Pretty sure every ligament is gone in that knee at 2:27 based on the way it moved after that crash, SO nasty.
