@apokolokyntosis: As much wood as a woodchuck could chuck, If a woodchuck could chuck wood. You should be asking , how much wood could a wood duck duck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
The quality of the crash should be proportional to the format its filmed in. If its a cheap, stupid, throw-away type bail, go ahead at portrait it for insta/tiktok. If your buddy has committed to huge-scale cinematic crash, you owe it to them to capture it in landscape for a high quality, equally cinematic YouTube compilation video.
Portrait is fine and can be captured at the same resolutions as landscape when it's not being black-barred into a landscape canvas, the issue is often framing as landscape can be a bit more forgiving. What would be the best, IMO, is if FF's were sorted to all be one orientation or the other. 1st and 3rd landscape then 2nd and 4th portrait or something. Nearly all devices support rotation or are large enough to make it negligible for a video every other week, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who would appreciate the consistency from clip to clip.
@pockets-the-coyote: I was thinking the same, but the issue is people watching on PC or casting to their TVs, do you try and rotate those screens or watch half the video with a crick in your neck?
@ROOTminus1: All the videos for one day should be chosen so you don't have to rotate during playback. Then all the videos that don't match that scheme go into the video for the next week. Rinse and repeat. Sorting adds very little time to the process of cropping and stringing the footage all together, especially if you produce videos for both weeks at the same time.
I heard the wind nuking at full speed in the first clip before the rider hits the drop, and thought, "I wonder if he'll get blown off axis in midair." Yup.
