"Damage report is 8 broken vertebrae, 4 broken ribs, I punctured both lungs, and minorly damaged my spleen! Somehow my collarbone and the rest of my extremity’s ended up fine. I’ll be back on the bike in 6-9 weeks. The nurses are calling me deadpool the way my healing process is progressing! Already walking around the hospital with the help of a walker. So thankful and lucky that I didn’t end up paralyzed or worse, and blessed to have amazing friends who stayed with me the whole time until EMS arrived."
wow wouldn't not have guessed on my first watch....but on second watch realized he did land directly on his back at an awkward angle. Doesn't take much with that kind of impact.
The one right right afterwards wasn't pretty either - looked like he got speared in the gut by his handlebar? Also the guy who tangled with a tree at 2.50 was always going to come off second best - my rule is never take on anything bigger than a sapling
This week's Friday Fails is brought to you by your less skilled friends who follow you down stuff that's above their pay grade.
And the heroes who document the ensuing carnage!!
0:30 is the North Shore line at Winterberg. Where a few weeks back I stood for a while contemplating if I would take the left hand line or chicken out and do the simple one on the right. I was pretty convinced I could do it without problems but something did not feel right. Seeing this, I don't regret the chicken line.
Looks like mostly nose-heavy crashes with a high number of incredibly hard hits. If even the guy who seemed to roll a bit with it getting 8 broken vertebrae, and 4 ribs, and 2 punctured lungs, I'm a-skeered to know what the really hard hits did to them!
Sounded like he said "ball" to me. Couple thoughts: 1) his friend knows too much about him and b) when you got one left, it is time to take it a little easier.
At first it looked like his stem slipped and his wheel turned sideways, but after seeing the bike at the end of the clip I'm guessing the bar slipped right out of his hand. ... Should of eaten that popcorn!

These are BAD crashes. Potentially life altering.
and the first one is pretty much at least a collarbone
Brutal.

More like showing his palms-almost
