I filmed that clip of the rider at 0:55. He had a serious concussion, qnd three orbital feactures but he is healing up great. If he was not wearing his full face, it would have been way worse. It was one of the most serious crashes I have witnessed in a long time. I had to lead him out of the woods, as his eyes were swollen shut from the impact.
Glad your friend is healing. That was scary. I never like this type of fail. I prefer the low speed versions where a guy with a head lamp barrel rolls off an easy rock roll. Done that and ridden home.
Good grief dude the irony of your profile name- (@ridingwithscissors ), is fuked up! When you submitted the footage to PB, did you bother to put a big WARNING!!!!... for the publishers, so they could evaluate such a graphic incident?
FF is supposed to be a mostly comical- crash entertainment reel, with the occasional head butt to a tree; minus the almost life ending violent trauma situation as this!

That is Crazy! I knew that crash looked serious.
I have broken the orbital on both sides of my face, one side from trampolining when I was 15, then the other side last year hit a tree at the bike park, no knock out and had to ride out. thankfully I was with a whole group of friends.
I feel for you having to go through that, my friends all have horror stories.
Prayers to your boy, and thankfully, they are not the worst injury to get through.
Thanks for the back story. Wish we had this on more of these. I've had to call for rescue on a broken rider before, and having your day suddenly turn from fun to emergency is so scary. It's always a good idea to take a first aid course when you're out doing this sort of thing on weekends. Hope this guy recovered fully, and also hope he's grateful you captured such good video of the crash (I hear this often helps the docs). My last concussion was while riding solo, and all I remember was suddenly being about a mile from where I went down, I was all banged up with a broken helmet, and I couldn't remember the route even though these were my local trails.
@LesZedCB: That's a gift that saved his life surely !! Pretty good gift if you ask me (even if I can understand the frustration of destroying a brand new helmet this early !)
That guy at 00:55 was totally FdU by that stump next to the trail, one of my biggest fears, stumps leaved like that remember me the Cedric Gracia accident in Reunion.
Southern Utah edition! I've never seen such speed and such a weird angle at the Yeti drop on Barrel (the intro clip). When I scoped that Ridgefield drop at 0:23 I noped out exactly because the landing was terribly soft, as this guy proved.
agreed. that landing needs a dedicated someone from richfield just to keep the ruts and dust under control. Should really have a can up there to spray the landing once or twice a week.
The guy at :55 is why , though I ride a mountain bike, I have to call myself a bunny hill biker. The only air I want to get is into my lungs, I prefer to keep it rather then to send it, and instead of shredding I barely scuff the trail. I still have fun but have less opportunities to take advantage of socialized medical care.
Hate it when I crash and someone says "are you ok?" right away. DID YOU NOT SEE THAT? I'm NOT FREAKING DEAD BUT THAT HURT MAN AND I AM NOT OK. let me lay here for a bit and give me a min. and I'll let you know.
That first one seems like it was the best possible outcome. She seemed to be coming in so hot that it was a guaranteed huck to flat which would've been UGLY.
I was there yesterday and thought it might actually be a good idea to come on the right of the rocks like the rider did because there isn't such a weird knuckle on the takeoff area to the right, but I can see why rider slammed on the breaks. Still a terrifying thought to have to do what she did tho.
I just learned in the comments down below that was cody kelley, and now i'm even more terrified of the drop. If he had that much trouble I better be ultra lucky to not die on it
the second one... 0:20... he had the whole damn hill to land on and he aimed for the huck to flat before the transition? That's some 1999 freeride if I've ever seen it.
How bout that dude at 0:30 wrecking on the canyon gap at area 51. I know there are several guys with permanent body damage from misjudging features at that trail while "just sending it". Sheesh...!

Mods...I wonder if there's any way we could make sure none of the crashes featured on FF ended with death or critical injury?
No honey, we have an airbag at home
The airbag at home: 0.34
visited there randomly and it was small but awesome, the drop they are doing was very intimidating and of course looks like nothing on camera...
