Only thing missing was "Let my Ibis do the work!" Not enough people sending in crashes? Are we in a crash recession? Liberal elites are anti crash? Worldwide conspiracy? Birds aren't real?
I have a nice pair of scars on my shin from the last time I thought "doesn't feel quite fast enough but I'm on a DH rig. It'll be fine...". Clapped my suspension, slipped a pedal, gained 12 fresh stitches and a 5" stripe of derma bond. Probably would've broke my ankle on any less of a bike.
Skill compensation and actually learning how to ride jumps are not the same thing. When you don’t know how to jump, don’t go out and buy a DH bike, practice with the bike you have on smaller jumps.
While everything you said is correct, my point was more of a “Don’t hit big gap jumps with your regular bike, most people “need” a dh bike for the monster drops and jumps that you regularly see fail on Fridays…
You should always start out with small jumps first…

These videos show you exactly why you should be on a DH bike, when you’re hitting big gap jumps.
They aren’t crash proof, but they will give you the best chance at riding out a bad landing.

I don’t think many of the features on here require a DH bike personally. Most trail/enduro bikes are plenty
Again, lack of skill and lack of suspension travel are not equal
Yeah, but only because I haven't landed yet.
