I am also surprized to see how many beginner level riders are actually going straight to clip in pedals. They never learn how to properly set up and "jump" off the lip, taking control of the bike off the lip and through the air. They hop and pull the bike up with their feet, while the front end drops because they didn't pull with the same force from their arms as they did with their feet. Just an observation. Not saying flats are better than clips, but new riders may want to learn some control before they start clipping in.
Had to re-watch 27 to figure out the physics of what happened there. Nothing like the perfect timing of blowing both feet off the pedals to effectively soak the takeoff of a gap jump.
