Coal rollers might see this video and think we MTBers like that shit. They likely won't read the comments and realize we don't. @Pinkbike repost that video and take this part out.
@anianmilan: Me too. Certainly looks like Moerangi Road or Tawa Road. Those buses are awfully old...I imagine the piston rings are a tad gone! I've always worried about their brakes....
@preach: Sorta makes it funny if it's from a mountain bike race. I've had smoky vehicles pass me, you just have to hold your breathe for a little and you'll miss the worst of it. That's what bicycle riding is like full time if you live in some Chinese cities.
Yeah that is definitely not coal rolling, that was either a wore out old engine passing a lot of oil or an old mechanical naturally aspirated diesel at altitude pumping out a bunch of extra fuel.
Coal rollers should be at the bottom of the ocean.
@handynzl: yep. Looks like it's the first bit of hill road. I usually pedal up during summer and the buses choke me up, not generally that bad. I reckon that one might not have made it to the top
I have one tiny suggestion... if you could make the last few seconds or so a generic splash screen instead of a fail video segment then the suggested video pop ups won’t block the screen! Thanks!
Indeed whack...looks like that bus was poorly maintained as hell, it was blowin smoke the whole way up that hill. Anyone rolling coal on my while I'm on my commuter gets a U-lock through their side mirror.
There's a difference between unintentional and intentionally rolling coal. Most people on here don't even know how or why it happens, how to prevent it, tuning, air/fuel ratio, timing, etc etc. My car and truck are both diesels. I would never intentionally get under the turbo to do that to someone. It's a d*ckhead move and gives every diesel driver a bad name. But, whatever vehicle that was did have some major issues. That's just overfueling at its finest right there.
With that being said, Ima grab some popcorn and sit back and watch the diesel hater comments come in.
@timbud: Believe me, if it's done intentionally, it's done in bad taste. That vehicle had something seriously wrong with it. Shouldn't be constantly puttin' out like a train. Whatever it is needs to be sidelined and have an overhaul. Before and even after it passed the rider it was still smoking. It's not like the driver lit him up just as he was going by. I'm backing the driver on this one and saying it wasn't their fault, but it's the unfortunate nature of the mechanical issues that rig is/was having.
@krashDH85: Yep, that's just one seriously poor running/maintained vehicle. The greyish color of the smoke tells a whole lot and the RPM's are way to low for intentional "Rollin' Coal. When the phallic heads intentionally do it you'll usually hear the engine rev high, tubro whine and produce very black smoke.
I'll join ya on the sideline from here on out, I'll bring some Trail Mix and adult beverages.
I think someone at PB was bored so they included it just to watch the Forum go boom....
HYPED to be the thumbnail of this reel! Shout out to Carrabassett Valley, Maine, where we get to crash our fat bikes on well maintained single track trails all winter.
Why do people with no jumping technique, like myself, attempt jumps they are in no way qualified to do? I just don't get it, but i like to watch it. Kuurrrrwa!
@5-9-A2: Yep, he used his Tain't Brake and turned himself into a lawn dart.
Lots of Dead Sailors too. The guy on the Fat Bike in the Snow looks like they never got their wazoo off the saddle. He gets bucked into a classic Flyin' W even before he goes off the hard pack which finishes him off. A couple of good examples of how not to use the front brake too.
I think my favorite is the Border Collie doing the "Hey man, what are you doing down there? Why did you Stop? Let's Go, Go, Go" routine. Gotta love a good BC. Superman to face plant was pretty good watching too.
It's good that these come out on Friday... every week, sitting at my desk, through the week I slowly build up the brain courage to go ride Captain Highgrinder, then on Friday I watch this video and think better of it. I believe it's how I stay out of these videos. Thanks Pinkbike!
"at least my frames carbon..." "but my helmet matches my knee pads, and I those ceramic bearings though..."
Still 1000000% convince this represents the skillset of about 92.45522% of the "Pro, I need this shock, that geometry, etc, etc, etc, etc..." that is PinkBike comments.
More wrecks people. Pinkbike is scraping the bottom of the peanut butter jar now. Agree'd that smokeout was f*cked up, but the one right that with the taco wheel was classic. Camera guy: "Heh"
The coal rolling segment is taken from the point of view of the piece of shit coal roller, hence it implies that they knew exactly what they were doing, and posting it is glorifying it. Whomever posted that as part of the Friday fails should seriously lose their job, take that shit to your Qanon Trump shits coal site and keep it the f *ck off pinkbike.
@GeoMurph5 it's a shuttle bus full of riders towing a trailer full of bikes up to the trailhead. The buses are all old and a bit shit. They're absolutely not over fueling on purpose.
@BCtrailrider: No biggie. I have a Scott Voltage (older model but I love it) and my son has a YT Tues. I'll get my Son's YT next year - he'll be getting a new one, now that he's got a job! You can see us on Youtube - Chesky Baba

What was intentional was its inclusion in this video... hence my original comment.

Kuurrrrwa!
1-they ride bikes
2- they crashed
3-they're all stiff as a brick

I'm a DH'er myself.
