I had one friend have this happen to him. Riding uphill on an otherwise smooth rockface, hit a groove (think 1cm deep) and in no time flat the bars twisted and bucked him violently from the bike. Pretty narly outcome.
This guy is a great rider, and has been on the bike for a couple decades. To this day I can't figure out how it happened. I guess it can happen to anyone if one relaxes too much.
Give them a break, most of them are on a road to get somewhere. The last week was the most pathetic crashes compilation. I can see my former self in half of these fails.
I’m torn, the riders with the gear and gnar always have the higher impact offs, but the ghoulish part of me prefers the slower crashes of the innocent riders, in the fleecy job bottoms and p!ss pot helmets, assuming all in the world is good, this is just cycling, right, and what could possibly go wrong.......oh.
@johnyyy: with all due respect for your knowledge of your native language but the correct Polish translation of “are you ok?” shouted during a crash is: “O kurwa zyjesz?” Or “Ja pierdole”
@WAKIdesigns: seems like you have spent too much time abroad ;-) these are subsidiary but in my dictonary they come just after the ones mentioned above
@deadmeat25: Man, there were about twenty frames between the front wheel hitting the ground and the front wheel hitting the rider. We can assume for the last five or six he's pretty well committed to his line and probably just hammering the brakes. The video is at 30 FPS so that puts him in the ballpark of about 0.4 seconds to land the damn thing, regain control, correct for the knee-jerk bar pulling he did mid-air, and redirect away from a rapidly approaching moving object. Cut the dude some slack, alright?
The guy behind his gf or wife at 2:22 - clearly she is gong too fast and has no control - it was inevitable. He just let her ride without telling her to slowdown. He's a fail.
GF or wife? The only 2 possibilities. Also, as the person filming is a guy, we know his riding skills to be far superior to that of any female, therefore it was clearly his job to determine the safe speed for her to ride at. Hopefully he said "my bad" before sending her back to the green skills loop for more practice.
1) That is me, not @skillswithphil 2) That's my wife and this was her on Upper Dominion trying to "pop" the jumps more, hence the sketchiness. Part of learning is finding where that line is on your own and inevitably you might crash. I'm proud of her for always trying to improve her skills. She killed the 7ft drop after this set of jumps
@Malky79: Dude. Not everything has to be seen through a social justice lens. It was clear from the video that the individual in front was going to fast for their skill level, as witnessed by the resulting crash. The other individual behind the first may or may not have known the capabilities of the leading rider, true. However, if the second individual had been riding with the lead individual before, the second individual indeed is somewhat at fault for not advising the lead individual to slow down.
Its funny watching a normal mtb video after watching FF because every clip you think "Wheres the fail gonna happen?" Then you remember you arent watching Friday Fails
What? No flag for leading with the head at 2:06? Spearing does not belong in today's football! 15 yard penalty, remains 1st down at the tree's 20 yard line.
2:05... red shirt... why I don’t\ should watch FF before weekend riding...aggrrhh... accelerating rodeo to inverted spine to tree... left pedal slip on landing?
Me: "Just gonna go ice down our future babe..."

Learn "are you ok" in more than 2 languages.

2:19 that guy has no balls and broke his jaw
This is pinkbike, 95% gapers.
Some target fixation going on there as well.
