1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
If you didnt fill in your name, the ballot likely wouldnt be considered complete, so not actually entered into the contest.
if you dont click on accepting the promotional info, maybe youre not actually entered into the contest, as its not considered complete....wild speculation on my part
I have no actual idea either way, I'm wildly speculating. I stopped entering when it went from a single click to enter, to actually filling out my info.
Id be curious to hear what @buk50 had to say about his comment, but im assuming its likely nonsense
of course as pointed out in other posts, different countries have differing laws on what you can and can do, and that is reflected in the rules of the contest. It’s what makes these contests unavailable in certain countries or areas
I think what we were discussing was the inclusion of ticking the box that you agree to receive promotional material or not, and whether that either includes you in the prize draw, or excludes you from the prize draw.
I guess I look at it as if I don't click to accept the promo material, I haven't completely filled out the form, so I'm not included. I haven't "joined the club" so I don't get the perks.
Whos getting this info anyway?
Pinkbike? Scor? Big wheel Cartel?
That's my guess at this point, again, wild speculation on my part.
Would not be worth it at all. Who cares about marketing signup from one person? Give them a free bike and they’ll probably be a spokesperson for life!
I don’t think tossing ballots that didn’t accept promo material alters the odds any more or less than tossing incomplete ballots cause you didn’t complete your email or contact info, etc. odds would highly dependant on how many people enter, as there are no set amount of available entries.
I do want to reiterate that I have no basis at all for the things I’m typing, was merely playing devils advocate to the idea that if I don’t click that box, is my entry even valid.
Was also hoping for some follow up from @buk50, but my suspicions are prolly correct on that one
I assume that clicking the box is mandatory to be entered in the contest, I get why, and I get that its my choice to do so one way or another. I have no issue either way.
Nothing is free in this life, and I dont begrudge any company that is creating a potential audience for their products and services in this way.
So if they took they route you’re suggesting, it would be illegal. Of course that doesn’t mean they’re not doing that. But logically speaking it would make more sense for them to avoid that danger.
Is it not a similar circumstance?
I dont know enough about giveaways to know what can and cant be done.
A quick read of the rules for this giveaway notes
4. HOW TO ENTER: To enter the Sweepstakes, visit www.pinkbike.com to log into your free Pinkbike account (“Account”). If you do not have an Account, you can follow the on-screen instructions to create one for free. After you have created your Account, you can enter during the Sweepstakes Period by visiting www.pinkbike.com/news/win-it-wednesday-enter-to-win-a-4060-frameset-and-shock.html and following the on-screen instructions to complete an entry form with the required information to enter. Incomplete entries are void. Limit of one (1) entry per person and/or email address.
Last sentence notes that you have to complete the form with required info, incomplete forms are void.
So if you dont click the promo link, is your entry incomplete, therefore void?
Also of note to @dwd
7. ODDS: The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.
In reality, I'm no expert in the field, just curious.
The east answer to your second question is that I filled out the form without adding my email consent and it said I had submitted. It’s possible they’re removing entries on the back end but that would be pretty deceptive.
You won this bike on a Win it Wednesday?
Good for you!
Quick question, had you clicked on the box accepting the promotional info from the company?
@dwd416 and I would like to know.....
I can’t remember for sure but I’m fairly certain I clicked the box to sign up for emails.
Thats pretty rad!
Shame about being an Oilers fan.....
I'm rooting for them, Leafs as well.
Best hope to being the cup home to where it belongs right now
You wont win but you will provide WAY more data than you think including you home IP (aka your address), Social account combined data (everything you've ever searched or commented on) and a bunch of other stuff, Canada and the UK has protections for this but the US doesn't.
"10. DATA: By entering, you agree to Sponsor’s manner of collection and usage of any personal information you submit, all of which is subject to Sponsor’s privacy located at www.outsideinc.com/privacy-policy and the Prize Provider’s privacy policy located at www.scor-mtb.com/scr_eu_en/privacy-and-cookie-policy
For residents of Canada and the United Kingdom: Personally identifiable information you submit in connection with the Sweepstakes will be collected, used, and disclosed only for the purposes of administering the Sweepstakes, prize fulfillment, as you otherwise expressly consent, or as required by law. By entering the Sweepstakes, you consent to such collection, use, and disclosure."
But he could also be talking about html iframes.
I think PB fixed this and the iFrame issue I had last time seems to show the submit form properly in my Brave browser. I should've checked the HTML code in developer mode to see if there is an iFrame in the submission section.
I’d say it’s quite worth boycotting this shitshow…
Anyone else getting this message below the entry button "Sorry, this campaign is not available in your location."
The button isn't even clickable..oh well, good luck to a staff members friend.
This is so lame!
