Hi, I don't understand my jurisdictions contesting laws and therefore I have come to complain in the comments. I am very upset that my particular country/provice/state/area has been excluded from being able to enter a contest I won't win anyway. I wish it was the old days where Pinkbike violates the Competition act, criminal code, and the gaming control act. I hate how they're now compliant!

Don't worry, I can enter and won't win either!

The problem isn't from a lack of understanding. The problem is that the situation exists from a purely legal perspective. Practically and logically the world is rather small from a commercial logistics perspective. The other thing at play here is the fact that if the website has the capability to determine that my location is excluded, it should also be capable of keeping it out of the excluded users news feeds.

There are even strange rules that only apply to certain areas of a country. For example, in New York and Florida, the company giving away prizes must provide some sort of security (bond, cash deposit, etc) guaranteeing that, if a resident of that state wins, they will actually receive their prize. Canada has a lot of rules that must be followed in order to give free stuff to Canadian citizens. And Quebec has even more rules. This is likely why they just avoid including Canadians residents in these sweepstakes. The law of unintended consequences.

So we live in times when you can't even enter to win a fancy flashlight. I think this is dangerous, in my country light comes only from God or The Goverment.

I can enter the contest but if it makes yall feel better I live about 3 hrs away from where Redbull Rampage is held and couldn't even stream it like some peeps in Europe could.

 A whole $40 off, incredible!

@mkul7r4: Yet somehow still cheaper than this "ridiculous", "smart" and "impressive" equipment.

@iduckett: while the LM claims are in fact ridiculous ( as so everyone else because of testing standards allows vague exaggeration of numbers) I own OLight ( rebranded MS) RN1500 and it is very nice light. It is enough for me to shred 80% full speed in complete darkness. Paired with 2nd RN 1200 on a helmet I am able to shred 88% of my full speed. With my butt-chicks full clinched I can get near 95% of my full send Big Grin
  • 2 2
@iduckett: they should be cheaper. Way less light output.

@mkul7r4: winning these amazon brand lights is like getting $40 off.
  • 5 1
@fabwizard: I've actually seen the MS setup side-by-side with the OL. I'd say the difference is far from "way less" output. From a perception on the trail standpoint, I thought the brightness difference looked negligible, and the OL has a way better light pattern. MS was like having a round spotlight pointed down the trail. So, yeah, maybe they put out more raw lumens by the numbers... maybe... but if so they put those lumens in not helpful places. Plus, it's easier to be a "brighter" option when you require users to strap a 5lb battery to their bikes. No thanks.

@mutenutshell: well it would definitely depend on which ones you were comparing as I have some of the older designs which are spot lights but very cheap.

But those new ones especially the 8000 and 12000 lumen are far from spot lights.

Sorry but I would rather have five pounds ,which they are no where near, down by my bottom bracket than one pound on my bars or helmet.
  • 1 0
@fabwizard: agree. The 8000 is a fine light on the bars. I run a Gemini duo helmet with it and couldn’t ask for more. I’ve borrowed an OB helmet light and did not find it bright enough.

Sorry to open up old thread. Magic shine batteries also double as a power supply. Last power outage my wife used mine to charge laptop and phone. Great little option.

If you want 12,000 lumens to ride at night, just don't be surprised if a helicopter mistakes you for a landing pad.
